Heinz Ludwig, M.D., Professor of Medicine, began his scientific career at the Institute of Immunology at the University of Vienna. His field is internal medicine with a specialty in hematology and oncology. He was a member of the bioethics commission in the office of the Austrian Federal Chancellor, served a term as president of the European Society for Medical Oncology, and was a member of the international board of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He is a board member of the International Myeloma Foundation (based in Los Angeles). He is currently the head of the Wilhelminen Cancer Research Institute in Vienna. Prof. Ludwig is a strong supporter of patient education and empowerment and is successfully engaged in basic and clinical research. He has received high honors for his scientific endeavors.
