A PRINCESS AND A BOY WITH A BROKEN TOOTH.

BY DENIS DANIEL

CHAPTER 1;

Once upon a time, there was a boy who was born in a faraway land in a small village. This land was so far away that they never expect people from the kingdom to come. And they never did. He grew up hearing about kings and queens, prince and princesses, but they were all just stories to him. He would normally ask what the point was, for he never understood the whole concept.

He wanted to know what the kings and queens and their children would be like. He read a lot of books about them because whenever his grandfather went on a journey to the kingdom he would come with three books or so of different stories. Some were of adventures to the unknown lands and the amazing and scary creatures which are found in them. Some were about princesses and kings and kingdoms. The kings ruled the kingdoms and the princesses waited to be married with handsome princes. Or sometimes they were kidnaped and needed a prince to go to save them.

This curious boy was always one to get himself in trouble. In his sixteenth birthday he was out playing over the rocky plain near a lake past the meadows by his home. He was all alone. But that didn’t bother him because he was mostly alone, since he thought most of the children of the village didn’t understand him, or like him.

He had an accident that day. While he was jumping between the rocks he slipped and he hit his mouth on one of the rocks. He broke his upper front tooth out, or rather a piece of it. It’s a good thing only his tooth was affected on that incident. His family wasn’t very rich and getting a healer cost a lot of money, ten silver coins which was not easy to get.

Honestly, it was almost like magic he came out alright that day. However, that day changed the way people looked at him. His name changed and he was called a boy with a broken tooth. And people never believed his story of the incident either. But that never affected him, he wasn’t the kind of person to be bothered by what people say. He was just as he was before.

A year passed and things were almost back to normal. But one day in the morning when he just woke up he noticed something was different. Mornings were normally quiet, but this day was busy. There was a lot of sounds outside his little room. He rushed to the window and opened quickly to find out what was going on. Before he could see anything when he opened the window bright light rushed in the dark room. He closed his eyes at first because the light hurt his eyes. It was the light from the summer sun and from the look of it he over slept, for it was it was almost around ten in the morning.

He quickly grabbed his sandals and rushed outside to catch up with his grandparents who were probably on their way to the farms now.

He bumped on someone on his way out, “watch where you are going stupid boy” a harsh voice of an old man grumbled,

“Sorry, Sir” Steven said quickly while trying to find his footing.

This was unusual you would never bump into someone in their village especially at that time. He stopped for a second because he was distracted for a second. There was people everywhere some he knew and most people he had never seen before.
