About the Author

JANUARY 1

Thirsting for God

I long to drink of you, O God, to drink deeply from the streams of pleasure flowing from your presence. My longings overwhelm me for more of you!

PSALM 42:1

God, I want to know your heart more than anything else in this life. As I come after you today, may I be met by the overwhelming pleasure of your presence. I know that there is no reason to feel guilt, unworthiness, or inadequacy when I meet with you. You welcome me with open arms every time I turn to you.

As I lean into this journey of becoming closer to you through prayer, may the thirst of my soul grow, even as I am met by the Living Waters of your presence. You are the Fountain of Life within, filling me up with the reviving waters of your Word. You know that I love you, Lord Jesus. You know that I want to partner with you in prayer in the heavenly realm, echoing your heart in my life and in this world. Teach me to pray as you taught your disciples and give me your grace-strength to choose to press in even when I don’t feel like it. I long for deeper communion with you, and I know I will find it in the place of prayer. You are my Beloved Friend, and I offer myself as a living sacrifice today.

JANUARY 2

Invitation

Listen! Are you thirsty for more? Come to the refreshing waters and drink… Pay attention and come closer to me, and hear, that your total being may flourish. I will enter into an everlasting covenant with you, and I will show you the same faithful love that I showed David.

ISAIAH 55:1, 3

Father of love, thank you for inviting me into fellowship with you. You are not impatiently waiting for me to get it together. You are full of joy, not condemnation. I throw aside the guilt that has kept me from approaching you with the confidence of a dearly loved child. As I draw near to you, I find that your kindness never wavers and your love never recedes. You have been waiting for this moment, right here and now, longing to commune with me.

I will not stay on the sidelines any longer; I won’t circle your table, hoping for crumbs to fall in my direction. I come boldly before you, believing that I have a place at your table of plenty. Not only do I have a place to sit and feast, but you have also given me your listening ear. As I use my voice, whether with a whisper or a shout, you delight in the exchange of fellowship. I freely offer you my worship today, Jesus, for you are always worthy.

JANUARY 3

No Shame

Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense.

1 CORINTHIANS 13:5

Dearest Jesus, you never once made people around you ashamed of their prayers or condemned them for not praying. As I search the Gospels, I find your kind nature leaping off the pages as you instruct your followers and friends in how to grow in relationship with God the Father. You are familiar with my weakness, and you are patient with my process. You do not rush me into understanding though you are constantly teaching me with your wisdom. You know the limits of my perceptions, and yet you break through in revelation-light, revealing the expanse of your kindness. Thank you!

Meet me with the strength of your love today and remove every hesitation in my heart with the overwhelming goodness of your affection. When I glance at you, I find that you are already moving toward me in mercy. There is nothing that can separate me from your love. Wash away the remnants of doubt as you overcome my senses with the purity of your compassion. Nothing else can compare to the wonder of your love that has already covered me completely. The power of your resurrection life is alive in me, and you are doing a new thing. Thank you, God!

JANUARY 4

Made for God

Brothers and sisters, we must remain in close communion with God, no matter what our situation was when we were first called to follow Jesus.

1 CORINTHIANS 7:24

God, everything about me was made for you and created for your presence. Having been made in your image, I know that the true longing of my heart is to know you. What a wonderfully mysterious truth that you long to know me, too, in the context of unhindered relationship! You are a good Father, and you do not hide yourself from me.

There is a deep well within me that longs to be filled by the abundant love of your heart. Fill me to overflow with the generosity of your mercy-kindness. I enter your courts with thanksgiving in my heart, praising you for all that you have done and for all that you will do! Still, knowing you is better than any gift I could ever receive from you. You are the ultimate goal, God, for you are goodness itself. I draw close to you, trusting that you will draw even closer to me. Quench my thirst, Lord, and satisfy the longings that reach out to you with the pure pleasure of your presence. Only you can satisfy me.

JANUARY 5

True Source

When I’m near you my heart and my soul will sing and worship with my joyful songs of you, my true source and spring of life!

PSALM 84:2

Lord, I enter into your presence and come before you with an open heart, longing to connect with you, my true source. In your presence, I find empowering strength for every circumstance and every relationship. You never leave me to figure anything out on my own. You are my wisdom, my teacher, my guide, and my strength. You are it, God, the source of my very life.

Nothing else on this side of heaven compares to the beauty of communing with you. There is abundance of life in fellowship with your Spirit. I come alive in this holy exchange. You take my weariness, and you lift my burdens as I offer you praise and honor. You have my attention, Lord, for it is in you that I find the depths of my longings fulfilled. No one else can compare to the pure love that you offer. Who else can call the dead to life? Who can take the ashes of my defeat and bring beauty out of them? Only you, Father! I will not hold myself back from you today, for it is in the light of your face that I find my true place. I belong to you and with you. Oh, how I love you!

JANUARY 6

The Father’s Living Vessels

For indeed, we are the temple of the living God, just as God has said: I will make my home in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

2 CORINTHIANS 6:16

Father, I was created to be your living vessel. I was made to be filled by all that you are. You are my substance and my content, and I am your container. You have put yourself in me and made your home here. Welcome, Lord! May you find yourself fully at home in my heart. May I become full of all that you are as you make your home in me. I continually surrender myself to your will and ways on earth as it is in heaven.

My soul longs for more of you, Lord. You are my supply. I need a fresh infilling from the Fountain of Life. Fill me up, Lord! You satisfy me with your palpable presence within. You are the Living Water that revives me from the inside out. I am your temple, Lord, and my life is your offering. I will not stop submitting myself to you, for your ways are better than my own. Your wisdom takes all things into account, while my knowledge is limited. You are my God, and you are my sustenance. Purify my being as you dwell within me.

JANUARY 7

Call on Him without Ceasing

Make your life a prayer. And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus.

1 THESSALONIANS 5:17–18

Christ Jesus, may my life, hidden in yours, be a continual prayer before you. I breathe you in, calling on you without ceasing, and I awaken to life in the exchange of the breath of your presence meeting me with your response. May our fellowship remain uninterrupted, like a continual conversation that ebbs and flows but never reaches an end.

I will not stop calling on you. Continually, I turn my attention toward you. May I be quick to offer the gratitude of my heart, seeing where you are already working in my life. There is no trial or circumstance that I am alone in. You are with me. You are my holy hope, my unshakeable foundation, and you are my close confidant. You respond to my cries with your very presence. You are my constant comfort and my courage. As I pour out my heart to you, I leave space to receive from the overflow of your abundant love that meets me in every moment. Thank you for always being so near, Lord. You are the strength of my life!

JANUARY 8

Jesus, My Partner in Prayer

Jesus, the Anointed One…gave his life for us, and even more than that, he has conquered death and is now risen, exalted, and enthroned by God at his right hand. So how could he possibly condemn us since he is continually praying for our triumph?

ROMANS 8:34

Jesus, you are my life, my strength, my victory, and my hope of glory! You are the life and power of my prayers. Your life within mine is my purest prayer life. What a beautiful partnership we have. Your constant intercession on my behalf gives me courage to pray without fear or hesitation. I borrow the strength of your grace, given freely, and partner with your plans and purposes for the earth and for my life.

Thank you for welcoming me in my weakness and for teaching me how to lay hold of your heart. I’m so grateful that there are no prerequisite courses to partnership with you. It is like an apprenticeship. The more time I spend with you, the more I am transformed into your likeness. Your life-changing power releases into my life as I commune with you. I love you more than I can express. I know that the more I fellowship with you, the deeper this love will grow. I long for the transformation power of your presence more than anything else I’ve ever experienced. You are wonderful!

JANUARY 9

Priestly Ministry

Come and be his “living stones” who are continually being assembled into a sanctuary for God. For now you serve as holy priests, offering up spiritual sacrifices that he readily accepts through Jesus Christ.

1 PETER 2:5

Holy Father, my greatest ministry is before your throne. Who I am before you is more important than any other thing, more than any achievement or accolade I could receive from the world. I will not give up serving you, waiting upon you, pouring my heart out to you, and listening to your voice. You’re worth it! Out of the place of unhindered relationship, everything else will flow. Keep my eyes and priorities straight, fixed on you first.

What a privilege it is to have an open invitation to your heart at all times! You receive me with welcome, and you never turn me away, no matter the state I am in. What a beautiful Father you are! How could I do anything but respond in joy and delight, for there is no one like you who is lavish in love. Today, I make room for you. I make space to fellowship with your Spirit. I am so grateful that I can do this in any moment throughout my day as I turn my attention to you. But even still, I carve out time to breathe you in without distraction, for loving you is my greatest ministry.

JANUARY 10

Miracles as a Result of Prayer

I tell you this timeless truth: The person who follows me in faith, believing in me, will do the same mighty miracles that I do—even greater miracles than these because I go to be with my Father!

JOHN 14:12

God, thank you for the reminder that you release your power to work miracles in answer to the prayers of your people. As I press into prayer more and more, would you bring heaven down? Your promise to your people was that we would do the same mighty miracles of Jesus and, in fact, even greater things!

As my prayers come alive in the heavenly realm, you rain down miracle-answers in response. With your promise as my premise, I will pray bolder, bigger prayers. As my passionate prayers arise to you, I know that I will see the answers in the power of your Spirit at work. May my faith rise in proportion with the passion that fills my heart. As I spend more time with you, I learn more of your goodness. I recognize and expect your tangible acts of mercy in this world. You are a God who moves in power, and I choose to partner with you through faith. You are the God who created everything, and you can make a way where there seems to be none. I press in now with the boldness of a confident child of God.

JANUARY 11

Communing with the Living Father

Don’t you know that God, the true judge, will grant justice to all his chosen ones who cry out to him night and day? He will pour out his Spirit upon them.

LUKE 18:7

Day and night, night and day I call on you, Lord. I breathe in who you are, your very life-giving presence, as I call on your name. Jesus, you are the hope of glory alive within me. As I adore you, I am transformed into your likeness. By your grace, I find myself with access to your heart, the heart of a good Father. Just as the veil to the Holy of Holies was torn when you breathed your last breath, so also the barrier that stood between the Father and me has been removed. I see now, as I rest in your presence, that you have always been kind, merciful, and full of forgiveness.

I join my heart with yours, my spirit with your Spirit, and my longing with yours as I touch heaven through communion with you. I will not hesitate to come to you. I rush into your presence, like a child running to a beloved parent. I won’t hold back my love from you, for nothing else satisfies my soul the way your lavish love does. As I pour out my love on you, break the chains of fear that have kept me distant from you. Let nothing remain that stands in the way of connecting with you.

JANUARY 12

No Perfection Necessary

He understands humanity, for as a man, our magnificent King-Priest was tempted in every way just as we are, and conquered sin.

HEBREWS 4:15

Beautiful Jesus, the kindness of your heart is unmatched in all the earth. You know me through and through, and you love me completely. You do not expect perfection; rather, you know the limits of my humanity, and you are patient in your love. You lead and teach me with your unparalleled wisdom.

What a wonderful and glorious mystery that you are a happy God, delighting in me whenever I come to you! You enjoy me, even in my weakness, and you love my prayers. What a beautiful God you are! I lay down every sense of guilt that has kept me from coming boldly before you. You don’t keep a record of my wrongs, and you aren’t holding a thing against me. You speak your Words of life and belonging over me, and I am undone in the marvelous glory of your love. I come alive in your presence. You have won my heart, and you keep sealing the deal with the magnificence of your unrelenting acceptance. Whenever I need a reminder of the purity of your affection, you gladly meet me with the overwhelming love of your heart. Thank you!

JANUARY 13

Arise and Pray

Rise up in splendor and be radiant, for your light has dawned, and Yahweh’s glory now streams from you!

ISAIAH 60:1

Lord, I worship you today, even from my place of need. There is nothing that slips your notice in my life. You see it all clearly. I won’t hold back from you now, for you never hold back from me. I enter into the secret chamber of your heart, where I am met with your delight and pleasure. Your glory streams, unyielding, from your presence, and I cannot stay away.

When I listen for your voice, I hear the sweet sound of your gentle whisper. You say that I am hidden in your love and that my voice is like music to your ears. You love to hear my voice! Whenever you hear my heart’s cry, you answer me in loyal love. How could I stay away from such a tender Father? I won’t rely on my own strength or limitations when I have access to the storehouse of your abundant goodness through your presence. You are my sustenance, Lord, and I come running to you today. Nothing could stop me now. I will arise and pray, for you are the God of my great deliverance, and you are my ultimate delight.

JANUARY 14

Rush into His Presence

Gaze upon him, join your life with his, and joy will come. Your faces will glisten with glory. You’ll never wear that shame-face again.

PSALM 34:5

Father, I rush into your presence like the dearly loved child I am. I will pour out my heart to you, for you are my good and faithful Father. You are my delight, and you are the God of my great joy. I have joined my life with yours, and I belong to you.

I trust you more than I trust any other. You have been my greatest hope in this life, and that remains true. Astound me today with your love. I know that you always have a fresh portion of mercy to share with me. You are such a wonderful God! I love to come to you and share everything with you. As I pour out my heart before you, you fill me with the confidence of your affectionate favor. You are with me, and you are for me. You erase the shame of my youth and of the poor choices I have made. You wash over my mistakes with your love, and you redeem that which no one else could even touch. Your presence brings light to the shadows and breathes new life into forgotten dreams. You are better than I could ever express—infinitely better than my greatest imaginings.

JANUARY 15

Worship Him

From now on, worshiping the Father will not be a matter of the right place but with the right heart. For God is a Spirit, and he longs to have sincere worshipers who adore him in the realm of the Spirit and in truth.

JOHN 4:23–24

Glorious Father, I worship you. I bring you all the praise of my heart, and I stir up thanksgiving. You are incomparable in your bounteous mercy, and your love knows no end. I’m so thankful to know you and be known by you. You have called me your own, and what could be better than that?

I adore you, Father. You are ever so patient and kind to me. You are the King of Glory, and yet you make time for me whenever I turn my attention toward you. What joy I have found in belonging to you! What wonders I have tasted in your presence! As I offer my life as a living sacrifice to you, over and over again, I know that I will always be met by your mercy-kindness. I don’t have to search the world for a hidden temple where you dwell. You have made your home in me. I don’t have to move an inch or waste another moment seeking you outside of the realms of my life, right here and now. You are everywhere, and you are here. Thank you!

JANUARY 16

My Prayer, His Delight

Since we are receiving our rights to an unshakeable kingdom we should be extremely thankful and offer God the purest worship that delights his heart as we lay down our lives in absolute surrender, filled with awe.

HEBREWS 12:28

Thank you, God, for welcoming me into your kingdom with open arms. You paid the highest price so that I could know you, in Spirit and in truth. I am filled with awe at all that you have done, and I am full of expectation for what you are yet to do. More than anything you could do for me, who you are is beautiful. You are my Source and my sustenance. I find pure pleasure in your presence, for you have not withheld your delight over me.

I offer you my prayers today with an open heart. I am opening the lines of communication; this is only the beginning. Open my ears and speak to me, Lord. As I go throughout my day, I will keep calling on you. I will turn every worry into a prayer, and I know that you will answer me with your peace. I want every prayer of my lips to move your heart and change me. Show me more of your love today as I look to you.

JANUARY 17

The Mystery of Prayer

You answer our prayers with amazing wonders and with awe-inspiring displays of power. You are the righteous God who helps us like a father.

PSALM 65:5

Glorious God, what a beautiful mystery it is that I get to fellowship with you through prayer. Your Spirit’s presence in my life brings the power of your Word to my everyday situations. As I lift my heart and voice to you in prayer, you enrich my life with how you reach out to me in return. What a privilege to know you! What an opportunity I have to lock arms and labor together with you to bring heaven’s purposes to earth.

I am drawn into your heart in the divine dance of the exchange of prayer in your presence. As I pour out my heart to you, you fill it with what is in yours. You feed my heart with the abundance of your kingdom. What a sacred practice! May I never grow complacent in this place. Awe erupts within my soul whenever you’re near. I not only get to speak to you, but I also get the privilege of hearing your heart. That is what I want—to know what is on your heart right now. Speak, Lord, for I am listening.

JANUARY 18

The Timelessness of His Presence

Long before you gave birth to the earth and before the mountains were born, you have been from everlasting to everlasting, the one and only true God.

PSALM 90:2

Everlasting God, what a mystery that you are not bound to time as we humans are. As I meet with you in prayer, I am invited into the vast space of your being. Time seems to slow down, and space seems to expand in your presence. Your Word says that ten thousand years are as one day to you. You are not slow in answering our prayers, and you are as present in this moment as you were with the forefathers of the faith.

You are the Creator of all things, and you are actively working out your promises in the earth. Every word from your mouth is like a vow. You will always fulfill your promises. May I know your vastness and your greatness as I partner with your plans and purposes in prayer. It is friendship that you long for, and I don’t want to be a fair-weather friend. I want to know the longings of your heart as well as I know my own. Loving you is its own reward. Thank you for the privilege of relationship with you, the Eternal One. Though my life is but a blink and a breath, you delight in me all the same. I am overjoyed to know you!

JANUARY 19

Partnering with the Holy Spirit

I will ask the Father and he will give you another Savior, the Holy Spirit of Truth, who will be to you a friend just like me—and he will never leave you.

JOHN 14:16

Holy Father, I cannot begin to thank you adequately for the gift of your Holy Spirit. The same Spirit who came upon Jesus at his baptism and filled him with power, wisdom, and strategy is the Spirit who communes with me today. The same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead is the Spirit who breathes life into the barren areas of my being. I am alive in you!

Holy Spirit, you are such a beautiful friend. You impart truth to my heart, and you fill me with revelation-insights that light up the beauty of God’s Word to my mind. You give me understanding of deep, mysterious secrets that are reserved for those who seek after the Lord with all their hearts, minds, souls, and strength. I won’t stop seeking after you, for you are the best friend I could have. There is power in your presence and wisdom in your guidance. There is strategy that no other mind could come up with. You are perfect in all your ways, and it is my honor to partner with you in prayer and in life.

JANUARY 20

Worship: The Highest Form of Prayer

Let me see your radiant face and hear your sweet voice. How beautiful your eyes of worship and lovely your voice in prayer.

SONG OF SONGS 2:14

Heavenly Father, I worship you today. There is no one like you in the heavens or on the earth. You stand alone in glory. I lift my heart to yours in praise, and I offer you the adoration of my eyes turned toward you. I will raise a song to my lips, singing my love to you.

I know that worship is so much more than a style of music. It is the reverence and respect of a life submitted to yours. You have my submission, Lord! Loving you is what compels me to grow closer to you through prayer and fellowship. The more I know you, the more I love you. And the more I love you, the more I want to know you. Your presence is better than any gift you could give me or any answered prayer. Everything that I long for I find in you. You are all. You are the perfect parent, the most devoted lover, my best friend, and the King of the Universe. You are more than I can imagine and everything I could ever hope for. It is you! I worship you from the deepest parts of me. My life is an offering, and I pray that it will be a sweet one to you.

JANUARY 21

The Priority of Jesus

As he prayed, his face began to glow until a blinding glory streamed from him. A radiant glory illuminated his entire body. His brightness became so intense that it made his clothing blinding white, as multiple flashes of lightning.

LUKE 9:29

Jesus, I want to be just like you. In your life, you spent time with the Father, praying in solitude. You got up early or went off alone when others were busy, just so you could spend time with the Father. I know that this is important for me to do as well.

You lead me to the Father through fellowship with your Spirit. You empower me in strength and wisdom in your presence. I cannot ignore the importance of fellowship through prayer that you exhibited in your life, Jesus. I make you my greatest priority, just as you made the Father yours. I know that as I pray, you are doing a marvelous work on the inside of me. You knit together under the surface what no one else can even sense is there. You move in power through your Spirit, and you shine your glory on my life as I look to you. I want to be so enraptured by your beauty, God, that I cannot look away. May your glory shine on my face as I soak in the wonders of who you are, and let my life be a continual prayer before you!

JANUARY 22

Rooted in Prayer

After the crowds dispersed, Jesus went up into the hills to pray. And as night fell he was there praying alone.

MATTHEW 14:23

Jesus, I will follow your example and let everything I do be rooted in prayer. As I pray to you, unveil your glory within me. Show me who I am to you—that my very identity as God’s child would be rooted firmly in the soil of your overwhelming kindness.

I want to be so wrapped up in your love that it continually fills and fuels my passion for you. Today, I take the time to sneak away with you. I enter your courts with thanksgiving bursting in my heart. I offer you the praise of my lips. I want you more than I want any other thing. I need you more than I need water, food, or air. Your presence is my oxygen, and your nearness is my sustenance. The transformation I am looking for I find with you in the holy exchange of prayer. As I pour out my heart to you, I also make room to listen for your voice. Speak to me, Lord, for I am hungry to know what is on your heart right now. Reveal the reality of your love at work in my life as you increase my understanding of your truth. You are worthy of my time and attention.

JANUARY 23

Opening Our Spiritual Eyes

I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling—that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us, his holy ones!

EPHESIANS 1:18

Spirit of God, open the eyes of my heart to see you. Open my understanding so that I may know the reality of your kingdom come and your will being done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give me eyes to see from your perspective, breaking out of the limits of my own experience and knowledge. I know that you are bigger than I can comprehend and infinitely better than I can ascertain.

When you open my eyes, I can see clearly what was hidden from my natural sight. You give me insight into the spiritual realm, and I can see that your kingdom of heaven is at hand. May I not be satisfied with the testimonies of others in this area. I am hungry to know you more and to see you at work in the world around me. Let your light shine on the eyes of my imagination so that I would learn to get my hopes up instead of managing my understanding of reality. I long to know you more, and I want to worship you in Spirit and in truth. Only you can help me do that.

JANUARY 24

Sacred Secrets

This is why the Scriptures say: Things never discovered or heard of before, things beyond our ability to imagine—these are the many things God has in store for all his lovers.

1 CORINTHIANS 2:9

Great God, in your Word you make it clear that you will reveal the mysteries of your heart to those who love and look to you. You are full of solutions for every dilemma, and you are perfect in wisdom in every way. As I grow in relationship with you, I learn to lean on your understanding more than my own. May my heart become quicker in trust and obedience when I hear your voice.

Share with me the treasures hidden in darkness, the sacred secrets of your overcoming life and power. More than anything, Lord, I want to know you. I press into your presence today, with love growing in my heart. Shower over me with your tangible mercy and enlighten the eyes of my understanding. I long to see your glory and to know the riches of your kingdom, not to satisfy some greed in me but to put my proud heart in its place. Your ways are higher than any other, and I trust you to lead me into your goodness. You are good, God! You are wonderful! I can’t help falling more in love with you, the deeper I get to know you. Thank you for this sweet fellowship.

JANUARY 25

Love Response to Others

It’s no wonder I pray with such confidence, since you have a permanent place in my heart! You have remained partners with me in the wonderful grace of God even though I’m here in chains for standing up for the truth of the gospel.

PHILIPPIANS 1:7

Loving Lord, as I spend time soaking in your love, I am compelled to be more compassionate toward others in my life. What moves you is stirring me. What concerns those I love is prompting me to intercede on their behalf. As I consider the areas of need in the lives of those around me, I am no longer satisfied to detach in helplessness. Instead, I am on fire to pray for your kingdom to invade their lives in powerful and tangible ways.

I pray your best for them. Lift the burdens they are carrying and grant them your peace. May they know the nearness of your Spirit’s presence with them, helping, comforting, and providing for their every need. You know exactly what we each need in every moment of our lives. You see it all so clearly. Show me now, Lord, specific ways to pray for the people in my life. I am eager to see how you will answer and move, Faithful One!

JANUARY 26

Escorting God’s Will to Earth

Manifest your kingdom realm, and cause your every purpose to be fulfilled on earth, just as it is fulfilled in heaven.

MATTHEW 6:10

Great God, I want to partner with you in bringing the will of heaven to earth. I stand with you, God, and I want what you want. As I discover your heart through drawing near to you, I can’t help but be changed by the power of your love. As I catch glimpses of your desires, I get to join with you, calling down your desires in my life and beyond.

Have your way, Lord, in me. Transform me from the inside out so that I can reflect the glory of your mercy in my daily life. As my faith grows with the boldness of my prayers, I know that I will see you answer in the provision of your power. There is nothing that you cannot do! May I have kingdom perspective and never settle for the world’s account of reality. You are Creator, and you can do all things. I want to see your miracle power doing the impossible in the earth in response to the cry of your children. Thank you for partnership. What a privilege it is!

JANUARY 27

Peace, Comfort, and Joy

The people of Zion who live in Jerusalem will weep no more. How compassionate he will be when he hears your cries for help! He will answer you when he hears your voice!

ISAIAH 30:19

Compassionate One, I offer you the burdens that I have been carrying. Lift the weight of my worries and fill me with the confidence of your presence as I look to you. There is so much power in the call and response of prayer, and I won’t take that for granted today. I ask for your love to meet me in its fullness as I turn to you. You are my true source of life, comfort, and peace.

Abba, you are such a tender and attentive Father. You are stirred by my cries, and you respond in kindness. You are moved by the sighing I cannot keep from escaping my chest. You know my weakness, and you understand me more than I know myself. Thank you for knowing and loving me so completely. When I reach out to you in my distress, you answer with a Father’s help every time, so I will not hold back any part of my heart from you now. Meet me with the flow of your compassion, and I will be loved to life again.

JANUARY 28

Receiving What We Need

All the time you don’t obtain what you want because you won’t ask God for it!

JAMES 4:2

Provider, I want to always have the boldness and faith to ask what I need from you. You are such a good Father, and you never withhold your goodness from your children. I’m done with making excuses for hesitating to bring my needs to you. I’m finished with protecting myself from disappointment. You are not a man that you would lie. You are the perfect parent, friend, savior, provider, and more!

You are so kind in your response to me. As I pour my heart out to you, I feel the nudge of your Spirit saying, What do you want me to do for you? You not only listen to my desires, but you also push me to ask for them. There is no reason to keep my needs and burdens to myself, for you are my help and the lifter of my heaviness. Only you can satisfy me, Lord, for you are all that I’m looking for. Astound me with the wonder of your mercy-power working out in my life in response to my prayers. What a wonderful reminder it is that you delight in caring for and providing for me. I am not a burden to you. Thank you.

JANUARY 29

Proper Focus

Now I am returning to you so Father, I pray that they will experience and enter into my joyous delight in you so that it is fulfilled in them and overflows.

JOHN 17:13

Father of glory, I fix my eyes on you, the One who sits on the throne. You are highly exalted in heavenly places, and yet you are so close to me with the presence of your Holy Spirit. What a marvelous mystery! You are my audience of One, and I center my focus around you right now as I lift my gaze and awareness to you.

Fellowship with you through prayer is my delight and joy. I want to pray from the place of your throne room, opening heaven over my life. Your perspective is the one that truly matters. I want to echo your heart, reaching into the depths of your desires and partnering with you in bringing them to earth. Praying with you is such an honor. It is my deep joy. The more I look to you, the more I am filled with the light of your life within me. Your transformation power works from the inside out, renewing me with every breath. There is so much more to discover in your presence, and I cannot wait to learn more about you as you reveal your heart to me in new ways.

JANUARY 30

Gratitude and Confidence

I am always thanking my God for you because he has given you such free and open access to his grace through your union with Jesus, the Messiah.

1 CORINTHIANS 1:4

Heavenly Father, it is with confidence that I approach your throne, for you call me your own. It is with gratitude that I come to you, for you have been so good to me. Thank you for ushering me into your kingdom with the tidal wave of your mercy. Thank you for washing away the stain of my shame with the cleansing waters of your love.
