She Is Me

There is a girl I see

She is staring right at me

Right through this mirror

I wonder who she is

Sometimes I think I know her

Sometimes I wish I did

There is a story in her eyes

A story that is begging to be told

A story that is fighting to get out

When she is looking back at me

I can tell

She’s hurting inside

And no one

No one will ever know the pain she feels inside.

She smiles with all that she has left

She laughs and jokes like anyone would

Yet tears are left un-dried

And though she has so much to say

So much to scream

She bottles it up inside

In fright of what others will think if she speaks her mind

If she screams out

If she sobs

Or if she laughs

Seems no matter how much she tries

No one truly understands her pain

She can’t hide no matter how hard she tries

Her secrets disguised behind the lies

And at night she cries her pride away

With eyes shut tight

All her friends can’t understand why she can’t sleep at night

Her family pushes it aside

All she wants to do is to get rid of this hell

She can only fool herself for so long

She’s been weak

And she’s been strong

She’s been through fire

And through the storm

Trying to do right

And to know about the wrong

Trying to just be happy for life

But just because her eyes don’t tear

Doesn’t mean her heart doesn’t cry

And just because she comes off strong

Doesn’t mean there’s nothing wrong

She isn’t afraid to take the gun in her hand

She isn’t afraid of putting it to her head

And she isn’t afraid of pulling the trigger

She’s afraid of dying

She’s just afraid of the pain it will bring

And for her best friends to cry

I see this girl in the mirror

Smiling

But inside dying

I see this girl in the mirror

Thinking nothing good can happen

When everything seems to go wrong

This girl in the mirror
