Love at first sight

Bang….boom…..bang………….echoed the sound of the cannons and guns marking King Edward’s 50th birthday. Bells and horns were ringing everywhere in England. The atmosphere of celebrations surrounding Buckingham Palace was all hyped up with almost everyone running in all directions.

Outside the Palace, the Guard of Honor was neatly lined up in their military attire awaiting the King’s arrival. The noisy crowd which lined the streets and surrounded the royal residence was filled with cheers, shouts and whistles while people waived their mini Union Jack flags. The deafening noise escalated into a thunderstorm when the King appeared majestically through the grand entrance in his royal robe followed by his bodyguards. He smiled and waved at his people who responded with a huge applause.

The King was closely escorted by his mother and his youngest daughter, the Princess Sophia. The princess is the precious gem in the King’s crown and England’s favorite heir to the throne, though she has to wait until her three elder siblings have abdicated their reign. She was a darling to every prince who sought her hand in courtship and hopefully, marriage. Her smooth, silky skin was well engulfed by her pink outfit and her angelic face shone radiantly underneath her matching hat. Her sweet personality has earned the respect and love of every English citizen. At the age of 24, she has greatly matured in her royal duties amidst all the pressures that come with it.

“Joe, don’t you even think about it,” Mike whispered softly to his comrade as the soldiers froze in attention for the King’s inspection.

“What?” exclaimed Joe. He was cut short by the commanding officer’s shout signaling the King’s presence.
