UNITED is a collection of poems written from 1970 to 1980 where, the author, Enrico Micheli put into verse his life path including restlessness, anxiety, pain and a thousand other emotions. A common feature of all poems is their conciseness, as if the author was afraid that the feelings can slip away as the pen flows on the sheet. This composition does not want to be the clear and aesthetic consciousness of a period or a life but simply, a sincere search of communicating, a response to the concerns almost physiological of the soul. In these verses there is a snapshot of one's being, a scrutinize the depths of his own weakness and of his own contradictions, not to resolve them but to live them to the end. Each poem is as a witness of this struggle for and against ourselves, and against others because the truth that is at the bottom of every man has to be a common interest. This collection is divided into three books: Projections, A mask a day and Notes about the stars.

The Author

Enrico Micheli was born in an apartment on Urbano Rattazzi Street in Rome in 1949, in the Appio Tuscolano neighborhood, where he lived until the '90s. Completed technical studies and statistics becomes a journalist, an activity that starts since 1972.

In the workplace he experiences many areas of communication including photography, directing, editing and copywriting. Among his various passions his main interests are music, film and acting. Club member of the Great Travellers, he loves meeting new people while remaining tight to the family and friends.

Poetry is his way of communicating across time and space; to look for, remember and sometimes even find himself. His philosophy of life inspired by the words of the commander Che Guevara describing a revolutionary: «... is always motivated by great feelings of love».

Foreword

Per aspera… ad astra

Introducing a book of poems is not an easy task, because you are likely involved in moods, sensations and emotions that prompted the author to express them.

In my case, I choose the easy way, not to avoid thedifficult one, but because I am linked by friendship to who wrote them and I can not avoid the emotional involvement.

This introduction certainly becomes a brief tète-a-tète, which in turn is open to anyone who can incorporate that feeling so pure, so abstract, called sensitivity. Beautiful, if you want, when others around you accepts it, but terrible when you stay alone with it and just surrounded by the sea of selfishness in the daily life.

Some situations, in poetry, are clearly the result of your personal circumstances, but the fact remains that I am able to make them my own, as there is among us the "wavelength" that such experiences can become interchangeable. I think, or better I am sure that what you want is not the critical introduction of your poems, but to hear that what you have suffered and rejoiced in verse, is also joy and suffering of those around you, and see that we do not cry just because you cried, but because we are the proof that we can not be overwhelmed by the indifference that surrounds us.

But unfortunately rejoicing for love, grieving for a reality that others do not share, the complacency about something that makes you feel good today, but you already know tomorrow signing useless, is nothing but a mirror of your life, of mine and believe me, of many other lives.

Lives that, when reached the age of reason, are looking for something where it does not exist and hopefully are scrambling to find the thread of a skein whose head always comes back on itself; and so we spend our lives trusting in a better tomorrow, but resigned when that tomorrow will be like yesterday.

After all, you see, all of us are nothing but the poor lieutenant Drogo, the same costume every morning, every morning the same blackbird, waiting for the dust on the horizon is shaken by a tremor of battle in the hope that life can continue.
