The Story of Perchy Parcheezy

Birchy Bumble

This is a little story about a bunny friend of mine.

Her name is Birchy Bumble of the Bumble bunny family, she's got a brother named Billy too. They are good to each other as brother and sister.

When Birchy was born, she was very tiny and sick. She wasn't much bigger than the size of a peanut. Her mother worked hard to keep her alive and stayed up all night, for three nights in a row. She had to make sure that Birchy was drinking enough milk to grow big and strong. When baby bunnies drink milk, they lie on their backs under their mother. Since Birchy was so small, it was hard for her to lie on her back and reach her mother's milk. At first it didn't look like she was going to make it, but a mother's love goes a long way when it comes to protecting their young. As she got bigger and stronger, she started to be able to take care of herself more and more. Her mother was then able to get the much needed rest, to stay healthy as well. She had a husbun and a son to look after too.   Soon Birchy was able to hop about and eat on her own. It wasn't long before she began eating grass, hay and sweet clover. She got bigger and stronger as the weeks passed and she loved to play in the meadow and chase bees in the warm sunshine. When she was old enough, it was time for Birchy to begin going to school. Rabbits need to learn a lot about life, so she started going to Clover Hill Elementary. The school was through the meadow and right after the creek on the right. For Birchy, it was just a hop, skip and a jump away. She liked going to school, but because she was kind of shy, it was hard for her to make friends. The poor bunny could not understand why it was so difficult to make friends with other rabbits her age. It did not bother her too much at first. She was very content to play in the meadow by herself, nibble on sweet clover and chase a bee from time to time. If she got too warm playing in the sun, Birchy would hop down to the creek and drink it's cool clean water. Sometime's she would get tired and have a nap under the big Maple trees over at the pond. Other times though, she thought that it would be nice to have a friend to play with in the meadow. Her family loved her very much and she loved them right back. Her mother fed her and kept her fur and whiskers shiny and clean. Her father told her often, how proud he was of his daughter and her brother watched out for her at school.
