Poetry That Won't Make Your Head Hurt (Volume 2)

An Eclectic Collection of Short Poems To Make You Think and Sometimes Amuse You

The Long Chase (she played hard to get)

He chased the lovely lady

but she played hard to get.

Although she liked him,

she intended to be coy

about her intentions and

make him guess whether

she liked him or not, and

to earn her love. This, of

course drove him mad, but

he was a determined fellow.

He would chase her to the

end of the earth if need be.

So he kept after her until

they reached the North

Pole. Then he proposed

to her and she said yes.

They got married in front

of a bunch of odd-looking

small people and some

creatures with horns. He

placed a special ring on

her finger, making her

Mrs. Claus. And Santa

was a very happy man.

Legendary (his high regard for himself was not shared by others)

He was a legend.

At least in his own mind.

He thought his feats

were truly amazing.

But no one agreed

with him on that.

Didn’t matter, though,

because the only thing

he believed was what

he thought of himself.

And in his own mind,

he was truly legendary.

Not So Charming Prince (a warning)

Lately, you’ve been a real jerk,

Prince Charming, and I’m fed up.

In fact, if you don’t start behaving

better, I’m going to summon the

witch and have her turn you back

into a frog. Then you can leap into

my arms just like the old days.

So what’s it to be: prince or frog?

Is The Cavalry Coming? (looking for a rescue)

The stress of distress

is slowly but surely

killing all of us. Let’s

hope the cavalry is on

its way to rescue us.
