Introduction

Dear Reader,

I am pleased that you have elected to read this.

Do treat it with great care and caution.

This book is a risk, and makes you a target for this phenomena.

Proceed with caution, and you will be enlightened.

Proceed with impure intent, and you will surely be frightened.

The following is not for the faint of heart.

This is your final warning; for if you have a deceptive spirit,

This writing will tear you apart.

Are you still with me? Excellent.

I trust you will bear this burden well.

As you proceed, take note of your feelings and thoughts.

Reflect on the words.

Have you experienced anything described here before?

Take a few deep, slow breaths…

Now, let’s begin.

“Celia, you could at least pick a better album!” I said to my 16 year old sister. “At least it’s not that screaming stuff!” She replied snarkily.

I had taken her to the record store to buy an album, and she decided to pick out “When we all Sleep, Where do we Go?” by Billie Eilish.

Secretly, I enjoyed the album, but she couldn’t find that out. I would NEVER hear the end of it!

“It’s called metal, Sis! Also known as ‘actual talent’!” I said, turning toward the “C” section in the metal aisle. “Have you even listened to this album?” She asked. “Well, I think on the radio. Some song about a crown or something. Or a bad guy.” I replied, looking at the newest Cannibal Corpse album.

“Cole?” She said in a shocked tone. “Yeah?” I responded, turning to her again. “No one in our house owns a radio, you dork.” She said, crossing her arms and smirking. “I-” I began, kicking myself silently. “Nope! Don’t use the car as an excuse either. We have a ‘99 Mercury. It has a tape player.”

I could sense she felt victory, so I changed the subject as I lowered my gaze and faced the CD aisle again. “Have you ever heard of these guys? This new album is pretty good.” I said, picking up the new Cannibal Corpse album and showing it to her.

She sighed and shook her head. “Dude, if Mom even knew you liked that, she’d kick you out.” She said. I put the CD up and we moved to the “A” section to browse. She still had the Billie Eilish CD.
