Plot

"That was her first time feeling nervous and frightened in her cabin. She had her initial experience in the mortuary. Her name was Lana, and she was a new mortuary attendant in the hospital's morgue. Her tasks included receiving confirmed cases, generating death certificates, checking identities, cleaning certain parts of the deceased bodies, and then placing them in the mortuary cabinets.

She had recently transferred from Orleans to West Ohio after her husband divorced her. This was her fresh start, and that tragedy had made her strong. She felt confident in herself and was determined to follow her own rules.

The hospital's morgue was a quiet place. Rarely did staff members enter, and when they did, it was solely for work purposes. Otherwise, no one was allowed inside. Lana tried to adjust on her first day.

Just a few steps away from her office, there was a room for mortuary cabinets where they stored all the clean deceased bodies."

Chapter#1

"After a few months, when she became qualified to handle the bodies and work, one night, the phone rang, and she felt sleepy due to her night shift. Sometimes, she couldn't stay alert for work. 'Hey, there's a body to be received outside,' the security guard called her. 'I'll be there in a minute,' she dropped the phone and stood there feeling sluggish.

She went outside. 'Hey, you look tired,' the delivery guy observed her condition. 'Yes, today was so busy. I've never worked like this before,' she said with a smile. 'Please sign here,' the delivery boy handed her the delivery paper. 'Hey, where did the last guy go?' Lana asked. 'Today, he's still busy managing the bodies,' he explained.

Usually, the delivery boy would place the body in the mortuary room. Then she started to examine the body. That night, as she examined the body, it appeared beautiful. There was no hair on the body, no scratches; it looked completely fine, as if the guy were just sleeping. Everything seemed fine; the only issue was that the body wasn't breathing. She scratched her head, confused. There was nothing to clean, and due to her fatigue, she quickly filled out a death certificate for the body, gave it to the delivery boy, and tagged the body's name, placing it inside the cabinet.

In the office, she checked the dead body report. The dead body's name was Sean, his location was mentioned as Texas, his sister's contact number was there, but the cause of death was blank. She wondered; she had never seen a report like this. It looked completely fake, but she was too tired and sleepy to confirm anything, given her night duty. She didn't even inform anyone.
