The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in a golden orange hue as Arina and Denys gazed upon their new home in Kovensehn. They had decided to move to this tranquil village in search of a more peaceful life, away from the hustle and stress of the city. The house they had acquired seemed perfect, an old wooden structure with rustic charm that exuded history.
Arina, with her dark hair and hazel eyes, carried Annael, their two-year-old daughter. Denys, her husband, with a serene demeanor and a well-groomed beard, carried boxes with anticipation in his gaze.
As they explored the house, a wooden staircase in the corner of the hallway caught their attention. The staircase led to the attic, a part of the house that had remained unexplored until now.
"Do you want to see what's in the attic?" Denys suggested, looking at Arina with a mischievous smile. Annael seemed excited by the idea and nodded enthusiastically.
Together, they climbed the staircase and pushed open the attic door, which creaked as it opened. A musty, dusty air greeted them, but what they saw left them breathless.
The attic room was in pristine condition, as if it had remained untouched for centuries. In the center of the room, a large wooden box rested on an oak table. The box was covered in strange symbols and sealed with an old, rusty lock.
Arina was immediately captivated by the mysterious box and approached it. Her fingers brushed against the symbols as an eerie sense of unease ran down her spine.
Denys approached his wife and asked with curiosity, "What do you think is inside this box?"
Arina looked at her husband with a mixture of astonishment and fear. "I don't know, Denys, but something tells me we shouldn't open this. The neighbors warned us about this room."
Denys nodded, recalling the words of Kateryna, their next-door neighbor, who had warned them about the attic and the box in particular. "Maybe we should listen to Kateryna. We don't know what secrets this house holds."
Annael, oblivious to the tension in the air, tried to open the box with her tiny hands. Arina gently moved her away and said, "No, Annael, this is not a game. We need to be careful."
