The new awakening

The sound of the wind made me wake up. Or was it the sound of the sea? I could not say for sure.

In any case, it seemed to me as if I had just been born. What a strange thought.

Then the headache set in with such force that I thought my brain would explode.

I groaned and reflexively opened my eyes. Immediately, an additional sharp pain stabbed through my iris, triggered by the bright light that surrounded me.

I immediately closed my eyes again, but the waves of pain once triggered remained.

I felt tears running down my cheeks. I tried to wipe them away, but I couldn't move my hands or arms a millimeter.

"Was I paralyzed?"

The thought briefly pushed the pain to the back of my mind.

"Except that!"

No, it couldn't be that. Slowly, very slowly, the first shreds of memory came to the surface of my consciousness.

"Fractal-temporal time capsule consists of a multitude of nanobots that tap into the dark matter of the cosmos, creating an energy subspace that opens a cross-dimensional time path."

Then the next thought, "TALAH, guardian of the Star Walk."

"Majenna," it suddenly popped into my head. Where was Majenna?

Something had gone wrong. She had simply vanished into thin air.

One thing was certain; however, I was no longer in the fractal-temporal time capsule; that coffin-like monster composed entirely of nanites.

I still shivered afterwards when I thought of having really climbed into it.

But we had no other choice.

The henchmen of the Neensziss, who pompously called themselves 'Guardians of the Stars', had almost overwhelmed Majenna and me.

Slowly my mind cleared.

I became increasingly calm. ^

My thoughts focused now, after the memory of the last hours had settled in, on the here and now. Cautiously, I opened my eyes again, this time only to the extent that I could see my immediate surroundings reasonably clearly through the slits in my eyes.

I was undoubtedly lying on a white couch.

I could see my arms stretched out to my left and right, but I could not move them.

Then I saw them, two Neensziss. They wore strange transparent structures on their horny insect skulls that curved around their eyes and glowed in different colors.

When I looked a little closer, I noticed how their body outlines flickered slightly and somehow kept changing their consistency.

It was immediately clear to me that they were most likely two holographically constructed images and that they were not physically present.

They seemed to be conversing, although I did not hear any audible utterances.

But the mouth movements were present. The room seemed otherwise completely empty.

When I reflexively turned my head to the side, they noticed my awakening.

I had wanted to avoid that at first.

"It's all right. You have nothing to fear. We're watching over your health. How are you feeling?"

Now I was the focus of her attention.

"Why can't I move my arms? The body is also immobile. Am I a prisoner?"

My counter-questions seemed to irritate her only briefly.

"That's just for your safety," I heard the meaningless answer, and at first, I was surprised at myself because I had expected exactly that answer.

Suddenly I saw only one hologram, the other one had disappeared.

So, they were only partially playing with open cards. Also, good. In any case, I couldn't get any further here. I tried again to move my arms, but it didn't work.

Even my upper body could not be moved. I lay stiff as a board on the couch.

I was a prisoner; I was only now aware of that. For me, the question kept coming up, how had I gotten here in the first place?

The next question was, where was I at all?

I could not think of anything else now, so mentally drained did I feel. Thoughts of an earlier time washed up from my deepest subconscious and dissolved just as quickly as they had come.

They reached with it only that I confused myself even more in my trains of thought.

Pictures of strange creatures, smallest creatures, spaceships and women appeared and faded away just as fast again.

I absolutely had to put a stop to it, otherwise I would start to go crazy.

Suddenly I got the impression that I had overlooked something important. An image of a small golden sphere appeared in my mind, SITT!

The thought of the permit was not yet really solidified when something very strange happened.

Suddenly I had the feeling of being made of two consciousnesses. On the one hand I knew who SITT was, on the other hand the knowledge was foreign to me.

The small, golden-yellow sphere would surely help me out of here.

I just had to activate it. Then, however, I paused. I really wanted to find out how I got here and where this place was.

TALAH had brought us into the space of the universes.

The 'Guardian of the Star Walk' was the last person I had spoken to. She was able to give me information.

"I call TALAH. Guardian of the Star-Walk, show yourself to me!"

Then part of me remembered something else: "The 'Master of the Path' is calling for you! Appear!"

I had originally intended to send my call only purely telepathically.

However, I additionally spoke the sentences aloud, which irritated me only a little for a moment.

This caused Neensziss, who was still present, to suddenly look up in great confusion.

"What are you saying? What makes you think to call for the guardian? How do you even know her name?"

The immediate appearance of TALAH relieved me of an answer.

"Here I am, master. Do you want to try again and walk the Temporal Path?"

"What's going on?"

The Neensziss with the strange transparent structure on his head, or rather his hologram, took a step to the side. He stared at TALAH in disbelief as he did so. I tried to ignore him assiduously.

"No, definitely not! But I need some information. Where am I and how did I get here? From what you've said, I assume you're aware of the failure of the last time transmission!"

"Affirmative! The fractal-temporal time capsule was overloaded in its energy subspace. The time path was unstable from the start and prone to perforation."

Now I was not only wide-eyed, but downright pissed off. Why hadn't TALAH passed on this information much earlier?

That would have saved me some trouble. Before I got around to saying anything about it, I noticed that the Neensziss with the transparent structure on his head had suddenly disappeared.

"Who was that?"

I hadn't finished asking when the guardian of the Star Walk already replied, "Nanotechnologist Subbggschah!"

TALAH had probably caught my thought. I had to be more careful.

Much of the alien technology here was based on nanotechnology, which was controlled mainly by thought commands.

What was a nanotechnologist and what did it have to do with me specifically? I looked at TALAH questioningly.

Of course, she could not interpret my facial expression. As I tried to sit upright, I realized again that I was still fixated on the couch.

The material hologram of TALAH just faded, and I found myself abruptly alone in the room.

This was the opportunity. I thought fervently of the small, golden-yellow sphere that I remembered must be in the ball of my right hand.

Unfortunately, I could not raise my hand, so it was palm down.

I only hoped that this would not prevent SITT from appearing. But far from it.

In seconds, a bright glow flashed on my wrist, then SITT hovered directly above the back of my right hand.

Immediately, I was amazed to find that I could move again.

The tether field had disappeared without my having to give SITT a command in that regard.

I looked at the little sphere for several seconds and wondered if there really was some intelligence hidden in it.

At least it reacted to my well-being and that was already a lot. I sat up with a jerk and suddenly felt dizzy. Incidentally, I noticed that I was completely naked.

But that seemed to be the smallest problem now.

As I now slowly slid to the edge of the bed to stand up, I heard a voice in my head: "GLEESITT calls the 'Guardians of the Stars'. Unexplained events in nanolab tract Delta II. First contact nanotechnologist Subbggschah to get more information. According to ARTAK probability analysis, the presence of the Guardians is urgent!"

I had to grin for a moment.

No one seemed to have thought of the idea that non-authorized persons could also listen in on the telepathically conducted communications.

I blocked my thoughts as well as I could and slowly let myself slide to the floor.

My body circulation calmed down a bit as I just stood there for a few minutes. My thoughts spilled over as I did so.

I still didn't know how I had gotten into that room.

The renewed blackout, which had been added to my already existing memory loss, did not make me feel good.

Staggering, I walked through this strange room. The walls, ceilings and floor were completely white.

The couch, surrounded by strange apparatuses that were also more or less the same color, stood right in its center.

When I reached the door, it remained closed. Normally it should open automatically when I approached.

There was no visible opening mechanism either.

"SITT, open!"

In an instant it swung open, and I glimpsed a wide corridor that ended in three more doors after only a few meters.

I selected the right one and SITT let it slide open. I was just stepping through when I heard noises coming from the hallway behind me.

Out of the other two doors stepped several 'Guardians of the Stars'.

I recognized them clearly by their typical outfits. I quickly pressed myself against the side wall and let SITT close the door behind me.

I only hoped that they had not already noticed me. But the two Neensziss, into whose astonished faces I now looked, had certainly noticed me.

They were wearing the same clothes as this nanotechnologist whose hologram I had seen when I had woken up.

I thought I still remembered the name TALAH mentioned, Subbggschah.

This is exactly where I put in, "Subbggshah ordered me here. I'm supposed to get clothes!"

I tried to remain as calm as possible and curiously looked around the room ostentatiously. I didn't want them to even get the idea that something was wrong.

The entire wall space behind them was a screen.

I estimated it to be about 3 meters high and 8 meters wide. It was high-resolution and three-dimensional.

Many different popups could be seen, some of which displayed picture scenes, video scenes, or just numbers and characters.

In the foreground, a few feet to the side of me, were seating and small desk-like machine blocks with controls.

The entire room shone in a uniform white. Only a few points of ocher color stood out from it, such as the machine consoles.
