A few years ago, I started to occasionally write short stories and other creative works to vent creative expression, as my notepad and journal became cluttered I realized I needed a better medium to store my content. So, I made an amateur blog and posted anything half decent onto it without any desire to get it recognized. After a few years of it being completely invisible to the rest of the world, I decided to share it among some friends and now for better or worse, I have decided to share it with you.

I’ve made several improvements from the original drafts but the core content is there, some stories spawned out of pure teen angst and others from sudden reflection. Although the content is all a work of fiction, I was influenced by some real experiences.

One

Alive

Just cold enough to remind me of the same season years ago, it’s dark and the sun set long ago; funny how time seems fast down there where all the people find things to do with every waking moment but up here, it is slow and quietly scored by the beautiful ambience. Isn’t it amazing? I asked myself, to be alive, here, at this very moment, when it wasn’t long ago that trucks and cars were all racing down these old roads oblivious to the beauty that was presented before them; it was here at this place that I decided to stop. The stars of the daylight were almost too much for me to handle, I realized that the world was flooded by media fuelled by technology.

It was the death of beauty, true beauty and the creation of artificial experiences. We have such a way of destroying the things we love, we take things for granted so often and only until the end do we realize. Not me I thought, awake right now and alone in the darkness, my time was limited but not confined. The lighting was completely dependent on the moon up, the trees slightly obscured the view to the city below, but in a good way and only enough. The only way back down was to take either side of the road, it is quite the drive back down with spiralling roads, twists and turns just like my life but it all made the drive that much more enjoyable.
