Chapter One
Adelle
‘It’s a boy,’ the doctor said handing me my baby ‘any ideas on what you’re going to call him?’
I frowned at this, I wanted a girl and so this was just my worst nightmare. I had thought of aborting him, but I had a better plan.

‘So, you want me to switch your baby boy with a baby girl?’
‘correct’ I said while nodding ‘I mean the girl’s parents won’t know anyway….’ I said while handing the nurse a wad of cash ‘this should allow you to go on your dream holiday’
She nodded and headed into the maternity unit where all the babies were laying.
Watching her grab a baby girl, we got them undressed and switched their clothes around so that no one would suspect us.
I now had my perfect baby girl.
Chapter Two
Clarissa
With adrenaline pumping, I kept checking my rear-view mirrors on my car to make sure that my mum Adelle wasn’t following me.
I just had ten miles to go to get back to my REAL family’s house.
Still, deciding to stop at a layby to let the other cars pass, I grabbed my phone and texted my sister Maya’s phone.
Hi Maya,
I think I know what’s happening to me.
Will be there A.S.A.P
Clarissa
Not waiting for a reply, I got into my car and drove full speed to my REAL mum’s house.

‘look’ I said handing my medication bottle to my birth mum Melissa ‘and then look at this’ I said while handing her a chemical bottle ‘don’t they look like they have the same consistency’
They looked shocked,
Suddenly, someone banged on the door loudly.
SHIT!!

Chapter Three
Clarissa
Eleven months earlier……
‘I’m telling you Clarissa,’ my friend Amy said in disbelief ‘if your mum won’t show you any photos of you as a baby, how do you know that she’s your birth mum?,’ she paused ‘I mean I have a least ONE embarrassing photo of me when I was younger and you have none…..’
I sighed; she had a point. I just always wanted to believe that my mum was the most supportive mum ever. I mean I was disabled AND epileptic and she’s been there for me 24/7.
When I said nothing, she sighed,
‘Well, how about this,’ she said ‘Why don’t we head to mine and we can do a simple DNA test,’ she paused ‘it’s simple and only needs a drop of your blood and a fingerprint’
************************************************************
A few days later…….
‘OH SHIT…..,’ my friend Amy said while covering her mouth in shock ‘So this means that your “mum” has been lying to you your whole life,’ she said while pointing at the test results ‘This could only mean three things,’ she paused ‘either you were stolen from your birth parents, adopted or switched at birth,’ she paused ‘and I highly doubt you were switched at birth’
I started crying ‘So what do we do’ I said ‘I mean we can’t just go to my mum and ask her….’
She sighed before saying,
‘I say we track down your birth certificate,’ she paused ‘that’ll identify whether you’ve been adopted or not’
I was still in shock ‘but how’ I said, ‘how do we do that while Adelle is awake?’
She smiled sympathetically before saying,
‘Tell your mum I’m staying the night,’ she said ‘then we can wait for her to fall asleep and look through your mum’s stuff’
************************************************************
With adrenaline pumping, we frantically looked through my mum’s stuff, hoping and praying that she wouldn’t wake up.
‘look at this,’ Amy said pointing to a locked box ‘there’s OBVIOUSLY something your mum doesn’t want us to find,’ she paused ‘find the key and we’ll find answers’
Suddenly she stirred….
SHIT!!!
Quickly grabbing the box, we headed out of the room as fast as possible.
