Gardosi's first foray into print. It is also a labour of love. A single poem, performable, readable on the subject of sound, colour and individual pain (physical but also and most notably emotional).Jasmine's incredible piece helps launch our new Verve Poetry Pamphlet series – 'Pamphlet of Words' – in which Spoken Word Poets of note explore the variety of ways performance pieces can be aimed resolutely at the page and yet still fly in performance.

Recent studies have shown that cutting your thumb chopping kale hurts more than when chopping bacon, because you are about to eat kale and not bacon.

Having your foot run over by your Ford Focus is equivalent to pain acquired when a 26-year-old blonde rejects you for your wingman.

And contrary to the popular saying, the pain of an ant is not equal to that of a giant. An ant losing a leg would equate to a friendly punch on a human shoulder. Two legs, if the punch is passive aggressive.

Once the International Hurtz Scale is programmed into glasses and contact lenses, you’ll be able to see your pain. Not just feel it.
