It was a cold day and a storm was raging outside. Piles of snow where lying on the sidewalks and no one seemed to have the courage to go for a long walk. Only a professor of oriental studies and philosophy ventured through the storm, looking at the houses and going into a neighborhood, where old mansions showed off their old glory and historical pride.
And on this day that this professor by the name of Frank Grebnar was heading from his house to an old mansion, which he had seen a couple of times, but this time it was an odyssee to the mansion, because every step was a fight. The wind blew at full strength and it was even an adventure to walk down the street, which was not verly long: only a few hundred yards.
It was still early in the day, but because of the storm even the morning hours seemed to have such a somber touch, which gave them the attributes of a world, where night and peril were continually present. Frank Grebnar was not a very spiritual man, but a man of reason and highest education. His day consisted of writing articles and reading books. There was hardly a day, when he did not at least read one book or wrote an article. The capacity or should one rather say the discipline and fervor of this man was incredible, especially for a normal man at his age.
