Beschreibung

Since the primordial time people imagine and dream. In the cobwebs of their mind sweet fancies loiter. In dreams they often see a colorful world, a rainbow tainting the sky. Reality is such an austere thing. Dreams get crushed like a piece of glass broken into shards. These shattered dreams torment and agonize us and embed within us a vicious circle of intense pain which revolves in our psyche. A short story about an arranged marriage.

When Life Becomes Hell

Do dreams come true?

To The Almighty and my parentsBookRix GmbH & Co. KG81371 Munich

The story

Pink roses peeped out of the verdant grass plumes in their garden in Kolkata, India. Rani was bubbling with joy. She was going to tie the knot soon. Her marriage had been arranged by her parents and the groom seemed to match the Man of her Dreams. Arun had all the qualities to attract any woman. He was tall, smart, good-looking and educated. He had completed his Masters in Mathematics and was a young, promising lawyer. He was that eligible bachelor that every woman would want and Rani was no exception.

Rani was nearly twenty-one years old when her marriage took place. She thought that all her long cherished dreams would come true. Like all young women she had dreamed of a loving husband and caring in-laws who would make her life beautiful. She was doing her Masters in Comparative Philology and was about to complete her Masters. She had a great singing voice and earned her fifth year degree in Indian classical singing. Only one year was left to complete it.  She was as innocent as a rose bud and was awaiting to bloom.

Her first lick came when she was not allowed to complete her education. Rani had attended several months of classes and she was yearning to finish it. Unfortunately, her orthodox and domineering in-laws, specially her narrow-eyed mother-in-law, Bulu, were very jealous of her beauty and qualities. Bulu did not want Rani to complete her Masters because obtaining it would put her at par with her three daughters.
