INTRODUCTION

Clothing can be made through many means, and one of which is crochet. Some of the other methods include weaving, bonding, and the one which is closely related to crochet, knitting, etc. Crochet has, however, evolved from the process of making just clothing to making other decorative stuff. This means that you might not want to make a crochet dress for your baby, but you can actually decorate her nursery with crochet stuff. And why not make her a crochet dress anyway? I can bet that it will surely look good on her.

Crotchet is definitely an enjoyable way out of boredom.

There is no need to be idle anymore as you can make

something beautiful during your free moments. You can take a leave from work, and while you enjoy your favorite movies on Zeeworld, hold a hook and yarn in your hands and make a cozy blanket.

Understanding Crochet

What Does It Mean To Crochet?

A definition of what crochet is might actually be a great way to start. You should be able to define what you do, right?

According to Wikipedia, it is a process of creating textiles byusing a crochet hook to interlock loops of yarn, thread, or strandsof other materials.

From my studies so far,

I think the yarn is the

most common material

that is used in crochet.

Next to it is the crochet

thread.

Knitting and Crochet, Any Difference?

To an informed eye, knitted and crochet works are just one and the same thing. However, to knit ain’t the same thing as to crochet. They are two different things. Crochet seems to take less amount of time as compared to knitting.

Taking a keen look at both, crochet stiches usually take the form of a knotted look like knits appears as if you ar-range so many ‘Vs’ in a straight line.

Below are some other differences:

I will advise beginners to use a light shade of worsted weight cotton yarn to crochet. This will help you see your

work come out faster. It is also because it is easier to frog, and we can’t rule out a mistake in a beginner's work.

Will I advise you to choose crochet over knitting?

That’s ultimately your choice to make though. Knitting and crochet are both yarn crafts and require some time to finish. But if you find out that you are not very patient and you don’t like making mistakes, especially one that will take a longer time to correct, I surely will advise you to take up crochet and ditch knitting (or at least for the meantime).

If you like to express your creativity in your patterns and don’t want to spend much money on supplies, you are better off with crochet (even with your fingers and a yarn, you are good to go!).

Any Benefit in Crochet?

Very many people crochet to pass the time. If you are in this category, you should know that you are doing yourself a lot of good. Not only does the time you spend making several designs help you to reduce accumulated body stress and anxiety, but it also helps you to:

1. Feel fulfilled. You get to give yourself a pat on the back when you are done with a particular project. Imagine creating something from just a hook and yarn?

2. Relieve depression: now, there is something creative and constructive that you are thinking about. You will have less or no time for destructive and depressive thoughts. It has been proved that doing something you like doing makes the brain to secrete hormones such as dopamine and serotonin. Dopamine works like an anti-depressant, making you feel good.

3. Be happy: Crochet works when well-done are very beautiful. You’ll be happy to be the brain behind a beautiful piece of artwork.

4. You might make an extra income from it. Especially in climes where people have to work two or three jobs to make ends meet, selling beautiful crochet pieces might be a source of income for the crocheter.

5. Slow down or prevent memory loss altogether: memory loss can be slowed down when one partakes in logical exercises, such as crochet.

Also, it helps you to develop fine motor skills. People who have arthritis might do well to consider picking up cro-

cheting as a hobby. It will help to keep their fingers nim-ble. The craft of crocheting will make you more patient.
