Foreword
The journey that brought me to Glasgow didn’t start with a simple decision but rather with a deep yearning that had grown within me over many years. As a child growing up in Pakistan, the world of history always seemed magical to me. Stories of King Tutankhamun, the great pharaohs, and the archaeological wonders of the earth had captivated my imagination. But the more I read, the more I realized that history was not just distant tales. It was a web of connections that spanned the globe—and I wanted to understand those connections.
So why Glasgow? Why a place that, at first glance, might not seem connected to my own origins or my personal history? This question followed me as I decided to take the leap and move to the UK to study history and archaeology. To many of my friends and family, it seemed like an unusual choice. In a city known for its industrial past, its cultural diversity, and its gritty charm, I was searching for answers rooted in distant epochs. But that was precisely what made Glasgow so fascinating for me.
