Grandma

Grandma wakes up when Holger and Astrid are standing and rushing her. She remembers now that she has promised to babysit them today when their mom and dad are away for the weekend. She also looked after them yesterday and they had a great day at the zoo, but today grandma is tired and doesn't want to babysit. She wants to sleep on. She wants Holger and Astrid to babysit her today instead. She was theirs yesterday. So it's fair.

- Wake up grandma, wake up, the children shout.

- Don't want to, says grandma.

- But we're going to eat breakfast now, we do that every morning when we wake up, replies Astrid.

- Don't want to say grandma again.

- But why grandma, asks Holger

- Because today I don't want to be a babysitter. Today I want you to be my babysitter. And that means you can start by giving me breakfast, Grandma replies.

- But we can't cook breakfast, replies Astrid. We are too small and cannot touch the stove and microwave.

- Is there anything you can give me for breakfast?, asks grandma.

- Yes, says Holger

- Ice cream, says Astrid.

- Hooray, I'll have ice cream for breakfast, grandma shouts happily.

The children run and get ice cream for their grandmother. Soon she is sitting with an ice cream stick in each hand and is very happy.

So if you see a grandma sitting with an ice cream in each hand, you know it's the day grandma wanted her grandchildren to look after her.

Santa

At the same time, Santa has decided on one thing when he wakes up in the morning. Today he will have Christmas Eve. He really wants it to be Christmas Eve today. He wants to ride his sleigh around the world and meet all the wonderful children. He wants to go down the chimneys, it's an exciting feeling every time, almost like riding a slide. Or sneak around the house without waking the family in the homes he decides to do it in. Then he puts the Christmas presents under the tree or in the Christmas stockings stuck to the stove. It's a shame that it's summer, so the families don't expect him to come with the Christmas presents today, but only in six months. But Santa doesn't care, he's going to give them out today because that's what he wants to do.

He awakens his goblins who always help him prepare what needs to be done before his departure around the world. Some elves wonder if Santa is really healthy, because he got this crazy idea. Others, like Santa, think it's the best idea in the world. Mrs Santa, lying in the sun, wonders if Santa has really thought this through. Nothing is prepared at the families' homes. They don't have a Christmas tree, Christmas stockings, Christmas porridge, Christmas decorations, and everything else that belongs to Christmas. Where will Santa put the Christmas presents? How is he going to be able to go down to the scrapyard now that it's so hot in the summer? He might get burns on his legs like he got last summer when he went on the slide with the gnomes and it was a really hot day. In addition, they have sent Rudolf and the other reindeer on summer grazing as they always do in the summer. Mrs Santa suggests that Santa wait until Christmas really is and everything is prepared as they usually are. Santa doesn't agree. He will celebrate Christmas Eve today and nothing else.
