The book has two stories. One is a story about Jenny who has a neuropsychiatric diagnosis and talks about her life with this. The other about Jesper, who has been tasked by his psychologist to write down his feelings about being a sibling of someone who has a neuropsychiatric diagnosis. Two stories, two completely different perspectives within the same family.

Hello, my name is Jenny, I am 13 years old and have a diagnosis called ADHD. ADHD is a part of me and makes me who I am. In some cases I may have some challenges in my life related to my ADHD and in other cases I may have an easier time with different things than other people have.
Every school day morning I take a medicine that is red and white, can't remember the name of it. If I take my medicine at 7:00 am, it stops helping me during the day at about 3:00 pm. For me, it's great because then I get help from the medicine at school, which I need. The hard part is when it stops being in the body, then I can get very angry and sad for a while. Mom says it lasts for 30 minutes and then I'll be myself again. All of us, me, mom and dad think it's worth taking this medicine even if I get so weird for a short time. It helps so well the rest of the day. The medicine I have I only need to take when I go to school, I don't take medicine on weekends or holidays. A thing that is a little troublesome is that when I have had a break with the medicine on vacation, I have to start with a smaller amount of my medicine before I can start taking the red and white. But that's how it is. My doctor says that the body has to get used to the medicine again after a longer break, if you take too much at once it becomes difficult for the body.
My friend Oskar, who also has ADHD, takes the same kind of medicine as me, he remembers the name but I have now forgotten it again. For him the medicine wears off much faster than for me so he has to take one capsule in the morning before he goes to school and then one when he eats lunch at school. It works best for him. Oskar gets help from the teachers to remember the medicine at school.
We have two other friends at school who also have ADHD. They are in a different class, but we usually spend time with each other. Vera has told me that she has a medicine that she has to take every day, it can be very crazy for her body if she skips it. Vera has told us that if she is going to stop taking her medication, she must first take a smaller amount of the medication before stopping completely. But she likes her medication very much, it helps her so well. Oskar has previously tried the variety that Vera has and it did not work well at all on him. We usually talk to each other about why it can be so different. Bengt takes two medications for his ADHD. He takes one in the morning only on the days he goes to school and then he takes one in the evening which he also has to take every day. It is a different medicine than the one Vera has, but it works in the same way, so Bengt has to take a smaller amount of the medicine before he can stop completely. For Bengt, having the two medications works well, his mother says they have found what is right for him.
Vera and Bengt have a classmate who also has ADHD, but she manages without any medication at all. Vera has heard from her that it is not a must to take medication if you have ADHD, you can manage without medicin, you can, otherwise you need the medicin.
