The late bus transmitter was down to its last on the road for the night was slowly growing later, the sky above becoming darker and darker till almost the entire world went dark. The only lights that existed in the world were the bus highlights and the few fading streetlights the city had to offer, but even then those lights were fading into the endless void of the night, leaving behind only a lonely bus to forever wander the lonesome dirt roads of the more lonely side of the city.
On one hand, the dirt roads that would resemble that of the country roads one would see in the more rural side of the world were rather calming as the bustling life of the city one would be always exposed to at some point in their lives, would cause a lot of stress for some people regardless of whether or not, they were used to. But on the other hand, the roads that were like this were very lonely and isolated, far from the comforts and presence of other people and police.

So, it was rather unnerving for the folks aboard the bus to simply hear nothing but the sounds of the bus making its way down the country-like roads as well as the noises of the small forest that was spread out along the grassy lands. However, there were other people who had boarded the bus, so it wasn’t all bad for those who were unnerved to no ends by the rather silent bus trip, something that was seen as unusual by the city dwellers who were more used to the busy life the city had to offer, but only a little.
Most of the passengers were simply sitting in their seats, facing the front of the bus and watching the highlights lighting up the road in the front. There weren't any signs of the next city that was connected to the city the bus had left last or any of the small towns far from the second city far off in the distance. The darkness that had coated the entire world and the lack of any streetlights on the sidelines helped make seeing anything near impossible. Others were off doing their own thing, maybe playing on their phones or reading or whatever the fuck people on the bus do to pass the time while riding on the bus.
The bus driver who was up front, paid no attention to the people who were sitting in the bus seats, instead he merely stared out the front window that overlooked the dirt road, heading toward the next city. His eyes looked tired as he stared blankly straight ahead at the road like he hadn’t gotten a good night’s sleep in a while, having to get up early in the morning probably had something to do with that. Much like everyone else who were living in the city with jobs that involved early morning wake up calls or the farms with farmers working their fields twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to keep them running and successful.
At this point in time, the bus driver wanted nothing more than to simply get this whole shit done and over with, so he could finally go home and get some actual sleep and that sounded ten times more appealing than having to do this. But that wouldn’t happen until he got this truckload of people to their destination and that was possibly still an hour or two away. Not a very favourable situation for the bus driver to be in, but he didn’t have much choice in the matter other than to bear the burden as best as he could till he finally made it to his destination.
Despite the grinding journey that was still ahead of the driver, the drive so far had been nothing but perfect. Sure, there was some conversation between the passengers in the back, but it was hushed and not a bother so the tired, old bus driver didn’t pay any attention to them. Those passengers who were sitting on the bus seats, bored out of their skulls with nothing else to do, dropped whatever somewhat interesting thing they were thinking about and listened into the conversation mostly because the contents of the conversation were interesting to say the least.
