Beschreibung

The pie had been devoured or at least, that’s what the head chef had said, but devoured was kinda inaccurate as the filling was gone but the pie crust still remained. Whether or not this was a stupid prank that the bigger chefs played on the smaller ones, John Dough wasn’t a fan of this, whatever this was. This weekend’s Octoberfest or rather pie championship was coming up so he had no time for silly jokes or anything like that, he had to work hard at that.

However, hard work could sometimes lead to things going wrong especially on Halloween, John could only learn the hard way.

Empty Pie Crusts

The pie had been devoured or at least, that’s what the head chef had said, but devoured was kinda inaccurate as the filling was gone but the pie crust still remained. Whether or not this was a stupid prank that the bigger chefs played on the smaller ones, John Dough wasn’t a fan of this, whatever this was. This weekend’s Octoberfest or rather pie championship was coming up so he had no time for silly jokes or anything like that, he had to work hard at that.He had already wasted enough time baking some pumpkin cupcakes for his cousin’s daughter’s birthday since she turned nine years old two days before and was having a, let’s say, Halloween party before the Holiday even got started and after Thanksgiving had ended. The little girl loved Halloween to death as it was the day where she could dress up as anything she wanted and go around the neighborhood, going from door to door, collecting candy for free.Regardless, John went to town on those cupcakes, working every waking hour of his life to make these things as best as he could. But like any flawed baker, it took a few tries for him to get them right. Whether it be preparing the batter or making the icing or decorating the cupcakes. But once he finally got it right, John had the biggest satisfied grin on his face as he stared down at his freshly baked cupcakes, they weren’t the bomb or anything, but they were great for a Halloween party and sure enough, when John delivered the treats to his cousin, her young daughter loved them to death.Yet despite that successful bake, the man found himself stressed to no end and like I said before this was because Octoberfest was coming up in less than five days and the several pumpkin pies he had managed to bake up were being “eaten”. That statement didn’t stand correct by any means, but it was the only thing that could come to mind. John sighed to himself, putting a hand up to his face, picking up the leftover pie crust and throwing it into the trash. He then walked over to his mixing bowl with a measuring cup next to it, peering inside to take a look at the remaining pumpkin filling with the pumpkin spices to give the batter a little favor. Almost one quarter left in the bowl, probably enough to fill one more pie, though there was no way to tell. John looked over his kitchen to the counters where a set of three remaining pie crusts sat. John stared at the crusts for a few seconds before picking up one of them then the bowl of filling and dumping it into the crust. He then turned his attention to the oven which was still turned on since he was baking that day, he set the timer and allowed it to burn, I mean, cook. While it was in the oven, John decided to make more pumpkin pie filling and add a trip to the grocery store to his list of things to do just in case he made more filling then he intended. So he got to work right away. Walking around his messy kitchen, he gathered supplies and ingredients from drawers and cabinets then set to work. Thanks to his years of baking, John managed to create about four bowls of sweet and spicy pumpkin filling that was smooth and easy to pour. The scent coming from it was that of sweet pumpkins and warm spices that would make any Halloween lovers fall in love instantly. John smiled and picked up one of the bowls, pouring its contents into the remaining pie crusts leaving one quarter of the stuff in the bowl. Now he had two more pies ready to be served to the pie feast. To be honest, seven pies wouldn’t be too much to give out, but still, it was better than nothing John supposed as he opened the oven and set them inside. The second they were inside, John wiped a layer of sweat off his brow, feeling exhausted from the work and stress earlier. He decided that after these three pies, he would lie down on the couch and take a nap. After all, if he was tired, he wouldn’t be able to finish the rest of the pies for Octoberfest. So, in a few minutes or maybe an hour, the pies were finished, John took them out of the oven, set them on the top of the oven then turned it off. With a yawn, John walked out of his kitchen and into the living room, face planting into his couch and falling asleep.

Pumpkin Spiced Horror

 A Few Minutes Later

A loud crash suddenly cut through the air, John sat up with a gasp in surprise as he was just in the middle of a dream where he was winning an award for his apple pie or something like that. He looked around his darkened living room for a few seconds, trying to find the source of the noise. However, the room was perfectly fine thankfully, everything was exactly how he had left it, there wasn’t anything that looked wrong or out of place.

John was relieved that his house wasn’t broken into and robbed or he got murdered while he was out on the couch and he was about to nod off again, thinking the noise was simply his imagination. Until it happened again and this time, John knew he heard it for sure. The man tensed up in surprise, his eyes widened and he froze. He didn’t know what that sound was as his mind was in panic mode thanks to the uninvited noises in his own house.

By now, he was becoming worried that someone had broken into his house and was attempting to rob it or worse and for a few seconds, he didn’t know what to do. He never once had his house broken into despite being a pretty famous name around his entire family and some strangers for his baked goods. It probably had something to do with his house being in a safe neighborhood where few break ins hardly even happened, so to have this happen out of all the days and during the middle of the night definitely scared the confidence and daylights out of him.
