Lost In The Forest

There was no way to tell if Kiyoshi and Daisuke were going the right way or not as darkness was starting to consume the land and the fact that the trees were starting to become thicker as they traveled down the path that led back to their village didn’t help matters in the slightest. Kiyoshi clenched his jaw, the remaining fur on his face pulling backwards to make his face seem more like a skull than it already was. His head lifted upwards to look around the dark, lonely forest, almost seeing nothing but inky black around them, in front of them or behind them. He let out a frustrated snarl, something that he rarely did on a normal day, causing Daisuke to flinch slightly in surprise. At the scared sounds made from his little brother, the older fox’s snarl turned into a sympathetic look that he would always have on his face beside his usual cheerful expression and coiled his forearms or what was left of them, around his little brother to hold him close. As he was being pulled in for a brotherly embrace, Daisuke snapped himself out of his trance and followed in his brother’s footsteps, hugging the white fox tightly as if his life depended on it, it probably did. Even with several patches of his brother’s coat missing, Daisuke didn’t allow that to stop him from curling into his chest and arms to allow him to feel the affection his brother was emitting so strongly even after a terrible curse had damaged both his mind and body. The black fox’s ears drooped as he buried his face into Kiyoshi’s chest, nuzzling his muzzle into the few patches of white fur that weren’t rotten or simply bone/decayed muscles. As he did this, he felt a small smile come to his lips. Despite being cursed with something such as this, his coat was still as soft as the fleece blankets his mother made for both him and Kiyoshi when they were little. It was such a deep and nostalgic memory that despite the awful situation they were in, Daisuke was very tempted to take a nap and just push away what was happening around them. Above him, Kiyoshi took in a deep breath as he brought his clawed bony paw up to his brother’s head to stroke his messy black coat.It was a small comfort, but it was one they needed right now for their situation was going from bad to worse, the rotted white fox’s tail coiled around Daisuke’s own as it curled around the black fox’s body. Kiyoshi sighed tiredly as both he and his little brother snuggled up against a thick tree, both resigned to the fact that they would have to spend the night here in the woods connected to the rotten hills. As much as they didn’t want to and wanted to be in the comfort of their village and mother, they couldn’t risk getting themselves lost in the darkness or worse, getting swept up by a dangerous river if they were really unlucky. It was only one night then the two could go hiking in the morning. The two foxes shivered violently despite the air around them being warm, it was more obvious to them that something was very wrong on these hills then everything around them being colder. However the two figured that as long as they were as far away from that thing as possible, they were safe.

Meanwhile From The Hills

MeanwhileI sighed in pure frustration as I sat up in my bed, I rubbed my eyes to get the sleep off them and jumped out of my bed, messily moving the sheets in the process. I turned my head in the direction of my window, seeing the still night sky with the full moon and stars up. I tilted my head toward my alarm clock on my nightstand, it said: three thirty in the morning. I sighed as I set a hand up to my face before wandering into my bathroom to grab a drink from the sink. I gulped down at least a third of water before the urge to pee reared its ugly head, so I stumbled over to the toilet, dropped my pants and did my business. I let out a sigh of relief that I could go to bed without any more issues hopefully.Yet as I wandered down the hallway, I smelled something that made my eyes widened in surprise. “Oh God, what the fuck?” I demanded in disgust, whipping my head around in a circle to find the source of what was the source of disturbance. Obviously I couldn’t see anything cuz’ everything was so ungodly dark, so I carefully moved throughout the hallway to the nearest lightswitch to bring light into the room. Only to my surprise, they wouldn’t turn on. “Huh? What the fuck? I could’ve swore…oh shit, I didn’t pay my electric bill yet, fuck.” I swore furiously under my breath, slapping myself at my own bad luck then stamping both my feet on the floor, creating a loud echo in my home’s hallway. As I finished doing that, I paused in my tracks when I heard something. “What the?” I asked in a harsh whisper, whipping my head back and forth till I heard the sound of someone gurgling on water. But the water sounded thicker than normal, it’s hard to describe the sound I was hearing but that was the closest thing I could compare the noise to. I tensed like I had been frozen in a block of ice, my eyes widening and my heart started racing. I knew I shouldn’t be freaking out over nothing like gurgling water since the noise could be my sink making noise. But here’s the thing, I live alone in this house on the hills. And if I remembered, I shut my damn sink off to ensure no leaks got out, my water bill was already crazy as it was.I swallowed hard, I didn’t need any more hints to know what was going on, someone was in my house and I had to get out of there as quickly as possible. I didn’t have my cell phone on hand as it was buried in moving boxes I was still struggling to unpack nor a home phone either, my only option was to run. That’s exactly what I did, I turned to the staircase and carefully crept over it, gripping the railing and started slowly descending the stairs. However I didn’t get very far as the door was blocked off by what I swear was tendrils of rotten flesh covered in eyeballs, bones, mouths with rotting yellow human-like teeth and black tentacles.“What the fuck?” I shouted, backing up on the staircase toward my room in fright, not understanding what the fuck was going on. I shouldn’t have said that cuz’ the second I shut my mouth, something fleshy and rotten appeared from beneath the stairs, a giant eyeball resting on top. At that sight, I screamed like a little girl and sprinted up my staircase as fast as my legs would go, somehow managing to outrun this thing to get to my room. I slammed the door, locked it and proceeded to the window. It was blocked in the same way, I panicked as I whipped my head around in a full circle to try to find another escape, no duh. I stared at both the door and the window in terror for a few seconds before I made probably the dumbest mistake of my life. I rushed over to the window, opened it and threw myself out with everything I had in my body. I dodged the tendrils somehow as I hit the ground, pain shooting up my chest as I tried to stand which was difficult at first, but the sound of someone or something gurgling water or blood convinced me to get up and haul ass so I did just that and I ran as fast as I could into the woods, hoping to lose trace of that thing.
