Abandonment

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you;

he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

DEUTERONOMY 31:8 NIV

The Lord loves justice and fairness;

he will never abandon his people.

They will be kept safe forever.

God has said,

“I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

So we can say with confidence,

“The LORD is my helper,

so I will have no fear.”

HEBREWS 13:5-6 NLT

“I will not abandon you as orphans—

I will come to you.”

JOHN 14:18 NLT

God, you say over and over in your Word that you will not leave me. Give me eyes to see you when I feel alone. Let my heart know your nearness when I cry out to you. You never turn away from those who need you, and oh, how I need you in this moment! I will cling to the truth that your ever-present help is at hand, especially when I’ve reached the end of my rope. Today, may the comfort of your presence melt away every fear and lead me into love.

Ability

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made

perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more

gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may

rest upon me.

After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all

grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will

Sometimes, Lord, I question your call on my life. I deeply desire to follow you and do great things in your name, but I don’t trust my own humanity. Thank you for the numerous examples in the Bible of times you chose to use weak men and women to carry out your mission. Thank you for the times in my life when you’ve used me in spite of my shortcomings. May they serve as a reminder that true strength is only found in you. Father, sometimes when people act wrongly toward me, I struggle to forgive them and let the grievance go. I know you do not hold my sins against me but receive me in my brokenness. God, when all the worries of daily life engulf me, I begin to feel overwhelmed and anxious. When I change my focus and use your Word to light my path, my vision clears and my perspective accurately adjusts. I do not wish to use this as a reason to avoid life’s problems, but I cling to the assurance that you are with me while I walk through them, each step of the way, no matter what.

How does believing God’s promises cause you to feel reassured?

Authenticity

“Remember this: If you have a lofty opinion of yourself

and seek to be honored, you will be humbled. But if you

have a modest opinion of yourself and choose to humble

yourself, you will be honored.”

MATTHEW 23:12 TPT

What should be our proper response to God’s marvelous

mercies? I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God

to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness,

experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes

your genuine expression of worship. Stop imitating the

ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be

inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total

reformation of how you think. This will empower you to

discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying

and perfect in his eyes.

ROMANS 12:1–2 TPT

“From here on, worshiping the Father will not be a

matter of the right place but with the right heart.

For God is a Spirit, and he longs to have sincere

worshipers who worship and adore him

in the realm of the Spirit and in truth.”

God, I am painfully aware of the imbalance in our relationship. There have been countless times when I was unfaithful to you and you still remained devoted to me.
