In the year 1926, we find Oppenheimer, a 22-year-old doctoral student, struggling with anxiety and homesickness as he embarks on his academic journey at the prestigious Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge. Under the mentorship of the demanding experimental physicist Patrick Blackett, Oppenheimer's discontent reaches a boiling point. In an act of youthful rebellion, he leaves Blackett a poisoned apple, only to retrieve it the following morning, suggesting that destiny has other plans for him.

Fate intervenes in the form of Niels Bohr, a visiting scientist who advises Oppenheimer to explore the world of theoretical physics at Göttingen. Here, he completes his PhD and crosses paths with Isidor Isaac Rabi, marking the beginning of lifelong friendships and intellectual collaborations. Later, at a conference in Switzerland, Oppenheimer encounters Werner Heisenberg, a prominent theoretical physicist, and the seeds of destiny continue to take root.

Returning to the United States with a fervent desire to expand the realm of quantum physics research, Oppenheimer takes up teaching positions at the University of California, Berkeley, and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
