Dear Jesus, it feels good to receive help and gifts, but you say it is better to serve others instead. That is a good reminder. I want to love and help people who have less than I do.

Dear God, help me to be gentle and loving in my approach to my family just as you are gentle and loving with me. I humble myself right now and ask you to show me any areas where I need correction. I seek to be more like you and replace anger with gentleness.

Dear God, I admire how gentle you are with me. I want to treat others with the same gentleness. It’s true that arguments go much more peacefully when answers are gentle instead of angry. Help me to remember that.

Dear God, as I discipline my children for disobedience let me be aware of how I am living my life. My desire is to please you in what I say and do, and to live in obedience to you. I want my actions to please you just as my children seek to please me.

FOR ME

Dear God, sometimes I know what I should do, but I don’t do it. And sometimes I know what I shouldn’t do and I do it anyway. That is disobedience, and I don’t want to act that way. Help me to obey my parents and you.

Why is it important to be obedient?

Dear God, thank you that you care about my day. You never grow tired of hearing from me. How wonderful it is to know that I can come to you at any time, with anything, and you are there with me. I bring you my praises as well as my requests, and I entrust it all into your care.

Dear God, sometimes I don’t talk to you as much as I should. You want to hear from me when good and bad things happen in my life. Help me to never stop praying. Thank you for hearing me whenever I speak.
