Acceptance

“The Father gives me the people who are mine.Every one of them will come to me,and I will always accept them.”

JOHN 6:37 NCV

“The LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at theoutward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

If God is for us, who can be against us?

ROMANS 8:31 ESV

In love he chose us before he laid the foundation ofthe universe! Because of his great love, he ordainedus, so that we would be seen as holy in his eyes with anunstained innocence.

EPHESIANS 1:4 TPT

God who includes all, thank you for not rejecting me. You have gone to great lengths to include everyone in your family. You didn’t just elect me as a servant, and you didn’t stop at making me a friend; you call me into the closest relationship with you. You have promised to not reject any who call on your name. If the children in my care are hurt from being rejected, whatever the reason was, I pray for restoration and healing for them. Please, communicate your love for them, and give them confidence that you will never abandon them.

How does God’s acceptance of youhelp you to be more accepting ofyour students?

Anger

Don’t get angry.Don’t be upset; it only leads to trouble.Evil people will be sent away, but those who trust the LORD will inherit the land.

PSALM 37:8-9 NCV

Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak andslow to become angry, because human anger does notproduce the righteousness that God desires.

JAMES 1:19-20 NIV

“Don’t sin by letting anger control you.”Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry.

EPHESIANS 4:26 NLT

Father, how I view you changes my whole worldview. I am transformed by who I think you are and what I know of your interactions with humanity. My students are like paintings. Their blank canvases about you fill with color and shape as they grow up. Let the soft comfort of your compassion be splashed across the stretched white. May your abounding love be the shape drawn and your slow anger be a prominent theme. This is who you are. Let all other lies fade away from their minds. Sometimes I don’t portray you accurately. May what they glean of you from me be true to who you are. As they discover who you are, let them fall deeply in love with you.

What does it mean to be quick to listen and slow to speak?

Anxiety

LORD, you are my shield,My wonderful God who gives me courage.I can lie down and go to sleep, and I will wake up again,Because the LORD gives me strength.Thousands of troops may surround me,but I am not afraid.

PSALM 3:3, 5-6 NCV

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled.Trust in God, and trust also in me.”

JOHN 14:1 NLT

Give all your worries to him, because he cares about you.

1 PETER 5:7 NCV

I was desperate for you to help me in my struggles, and you did!

PSALM 120:1 TPT

Prince of Peace, the very title of your name reassures me of who you are. You are the source of peace. Some of my students struggle with anxiety, and it breaks my heart. Show me how to lead them to your Word. I pray they will know that you will never leave them; they need not fear. May they understand that you take care of all their needs as their great provider. Let your presence comfort them and remove anxiety. May they learn to put their specific cares and worries into your loving hands. Let them be quick to turn to you in prayer. Give them the right words to say when something is bothering them. Cover them in your perfect peace and give them rest from what weighs on them. Thank you for all your promises.

What steps can you take to be lessanxious and more trusting?

Beauty

I praise you becauseyou made me in an amazingand wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful.I know this very well.

PSALM 139:14 NCV

Hold on to wisdom and good sense.Don’t let them out of your sight. They will give you lifeand beauty like a necklace around your neck. Then you will go your way in safety, and you will not get hurt.

PROVERBS 3:21-23 NCV

God of the eternal, you have placed me into this time and place in history. You have appointed me to teach these children. Where they are in life is not a shock or surprise to you. There is beauty to be found in the current season because you have designed it. Help me see it. For my students, you have placed eternity in their hearts. This means they feel the longing to be united with you. They know in their souls that they are made for something more. Give me the wisdom to encourage what is already inside of them. Reveal your will for their lives. Thank you for giving them purpose and meaning.

How can you see beauty in yourcurrent season of teaching?

Blessings

Lord, how wonderfully you bless the righteous.Your favor wraps around each one and covers themunder your canopy of kindness and joy.

PSALM 5:12 TPT

Surely you have granted him unending blessingsand made him glad with the joy of your presence.

PSALM 21:6 NIV

Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm has alreadybeen lavished upon us as a love gift from our wonderfulheavenly Father, the Father of our Lord Jesus—all becausehe sees us wrapped into Christ. This is why we celebratehim with all our hearts! And in love he chose us before helaid the foundation of the universe! Because of his greatlove, he ordained us, so that we would be seen as holy inhis eyes with an unstained innocence.

EPHESIANS 1:3-4 TPT

Perfect Father, you never ignore the poor and needy. Help me to be more like you in this way. Thank you for the conviction to share my blessings from you. Give me a generous heart and help me cultivate the discipline of giving to others. Help me teach my students to be kind and giving. As you continue to provide for them and bless them with what they need, show them how to share those blessings with others. When selfishness rises up in their hearts, remind them that everything they have comes from you. Give them opportunities to share food with the hungry, to encourage the downtrodden, and to give whatever resources they have to those with less. May each student I encounter today see a glimpse of who you are.

Which of God’s blessings come toyour mind today?

HEBREWS 4:16 NLT

The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

PROVERBS 28:1 NIV

God who hears, it is because of your Son and his sacrifice that I have boldness and confidence to approach your throne. Because of the blood of Jesus, I am clean. Thank you, Jesus, for interceding for me and knowing what I need. Even when I can’t find the words, you are there. In teaching, I am often left without words. I don’t even know what to pray for sometimes. Still, you know what is best for my students, and just coming before you and speaking your name is enough. In these situations, hear my intent and give me wisdom. I need your grace, patience, and perseverance. Give me boldness to face each day and speak of your love.

Why is it sometimes hard to be boldin your classroom?

Caring

Do not be interested only in your own life, but beinterested in the lives of others.

PHILIPPIANS 2:4 NCV

If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother orsister in need but has no pity on them, how can the loveof God be in that person? Dear children, let us not lovewith words or speech but with actions and in truth.

1 JOHN 3:17-18 NIV

“When you saw me hungry, you fed me. When you foundme thirsty, you gave me drink. When I had no place tostay, you invited me in, and when I was poorly clothed, you covered me. When I was sick, you tenderly cared forme, and when I was in prison you visited me.”“Don’t you know? When you cared for one of the least of
