Selling? Everybody does it. Today we are witnessing a true explosion of impromptu sellers, with websites and online stores sprouting like mushrooms, and where it seems you only need to upload one of your products in order to make money.
But that's not the case. It isn't enough to simply be on the internet, even if your website is well thought out and beautifully designed, to guarantee you a monthly sum or a small income. When I started out on this internet adventure, I was also certain that I could make it happen overnight, but I was soon to be proven wrong.
What annoyed me was that other people, probably even less skilled than myself, uploaded the dumbest content from which they ended up making a huge profit.
Many of them had a huge number of followers who did nothing but sing their praises, while others seemed to possess the gift of King Midas: the ability to turn every stupid thing they spread over the internet into gold. Was it luck?
At the beginning, green with envy, I was sure of it. But then, when I looked further into the matter, I realized it came down to actual skills, and that more often than not it had nothing to do with the content of the products being sold.
In my case I was dealing with ebooks, but generalizing you could say that these "lucky guys" exist in every sales area and in every category. Their products didn't appear to be more appealing or more interesting than many others. And yet, they sold. These authors had a fair number of followers and, I can assure you, they were NOT paid ones. Tons of positive reviews. Hordes of satisfied customers who, by word of mouth, boosted sales.
Once I got over the envy I began to ask myself: Why? And so I knuckled down to find out their secrets.
At the end I realized that, despite an initial bit of hard work, it was possible to obtain great economical satisfactions by selling certain types of products, and by using real and proper selling secrets, seemingly banal but very, very lucrative.
Essentially, I realized that sellers like me who don't earn much, regardless of what we offer, all make the same mistakes. Little ones, at first glance. Amateur ones perhaps. Yet sufficient to undermine and render unproductive the efforts of the sale. Again: it is not enough to simply be present on the internet to sell. It is not enough to offer clients extraordinary products, and it's also no use lowering your prices. All you need is to incorporate some minor, unexpected steps to guarantee you a true passive income, which will increase with every new product you offer.
Endless hours instant messaging with your customers so as to ensure maximum assistance? That won't be necessary anymore.
A slave to social media trying to become friends with the right people, hoping they will help promote you? Enough of that.
