INTRODUCTION
Our brains consist of hardware and software. Genetics form the hardware, while the rest of our brains are software, made up of what we are programmed to believe about ourselves and the world. Most of what we learn is benign or even positive, such as eating with utensils and being nice to others. However, unconscious software can also be harmful, such as believing that immigrants are "dirty" and that the powerful people with all the money are rigging the system.
The establishment media has played a role in programming these myths, such as the belief that the health care system is the best in the world. In 2020, 62% of Democratic primary voters in Mississippi voted for Bernie Sanders, who is champion of Medicare for All, because they were coded with another program from the mainstream media: don't elect progressives, they'll lose.
The media and politicians have put these myths there and repeated them enough times that they become an operating system running in the back of your head that you aren't even aware of. Big corporations, which basically own the media and both political parties, are often the ones writing the coding for these programs. The Democrats and Republicans are bought and represented by their donors, leading to taxation without representation, just as we did before the American Revolution.
For example, Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee stood up in Congress to comment on the Green New Deal (GND), a phrase popularized by the most establishment pundit in America: The New York Times’ Thomas L. Friedman. The GND is a plan to address the existential threat climate change poses to the world, but right-wing nutjobs act as if there is no danger and all the world's scientists are wrong.
The Green New Deal (GND) is a plan to combat climate change by investing in public infrastructure, electric cars, and high-speed rail systems. It aims to rebuild crumbling infrastructure, reduce pollution, and eliminate greenhouse gas emissions. However, the GND faces criticism from billionaires who profit from fossil fuels, who may lose some money in the short run.
There is no scientific debate about climate change, as over 99 percent of climate scientists assert that it is our reality. Additionally, more than 99 percent of all scientists believe in gravity, which is the same portion as those who acknowledge man-made climate change. If you believe corrupt politicians over scientists, you will be paying a heavy price soon.
The existence of climate change is publicly debated because the fossil fuel industry bought off the Republican and Democratic parties, not because the public is divided on the issue. In reality, 78% of Americans believe in climate change, including 64% of Republicans, and 65% believe that climate change is caused by human activity. In a functioning democracy, when two-thirds of the population agree on something, the government acts on the issue.
