This will lead Fedrick to understand that all areas of that world are governed by the Order of the Dark Gods and that what he wants will be part of an ever-bigger and more difficult plan to manage. The Secret of the Orchard
ersonally, the most ambitious and largest project that I have always kept in my heart, on which I have worked and continue to idealize every day, is called "The King of Light". After a period of time left "inactive" I decided to roll up my sleeves and fix many details, mostly a job that made me gather all my thoughts, to find a new image for my novels, as well as a definitive narrative, designed to be understood by everyone and no longer just for the "chosen ones".
A little while ago, I wanted to deliberately indicate the word "inactive" in quotation marks, mainly because I stayed a long time without making myself heard by those who followed me. This silence, however, gave me time to think about how to improve my greatest literary work.
After much work, I managed to fix many errors of my past, and by increasing my personal experience through different studies, I managed to put them in this context, in this new edition. The new distinctive features of my new work can be glimpsed in a new format. First of all, in the previous version, the protagonist Fedrick, was designed to look like Luffy in some ways, the protagonist of the manga called: “One Piece”. I don't want to hide the fact that I'm a true fan of that masterpiece just mentioned. I don't consider it a manga or an anime, but I consider it a true masterpiece! Therefore, I wanted to pay homage to the character and include it in Fedrick's characteristics, but the more I went on with the plots, the more I realized that Luffy's character in Fedrick didn't seem very close to the context.
Furthermore, Fedrick in the previous version also had some of the characteristics of Don Quixote from the famous novel by Cervantes. This made Fedrick a little clumsy, almost distracted, and awkward; in some ways, it seemed he wanted to give up, even if his distinctive personality of not giving in to adversity has remained imbued in the character, even in this edition.
This radical change was born in my mind in studying the aspects of the true knight in the best possible way.
The new Fedrick can be identified as if he had a more decisive and determined character, in the style of Aragorn from The Lord of the Rings.
However, this must not lead to a rash conclusion, that is, that he is a perfect character; on the contrary, he has insecurities as well as weaknesses; therefore, he must not represent a perfect character; he must identify the reader as if he were himself inside the novel, a stranger in an era, or rather in a world that does not belong to him.
Moreover, another modification of the new edition concerns certain dialogues and behaviors of the various characters, such as "Flemgard", who was called by Fedrick with the joking nickname of "Nag", typical of Luffy's personality of giving nicknames to certain characters, even to ridicule them and play on the irony and comedy of the moment. All this has led me to better define my diamond in the rough, trying to clean up several distracting errors in grammar and spelling, as well as small errors related to the plot and vocabulary in general. The plot has tended to be improved only on very small points; the final work was to add further curiosities but also to make the reader understand my universe through fresh words that do not lose interest, on the contrary, that want to be read in their entirety!
In this new edition, I have added: my personal biographical sketch; all my awards and recognitions related to my literary project; a precise and detailed glossary on each character encountered; all orders and tribes; the bestiary; and other interesting topics that I will insert from novel to novel.
I sincerely hope that all this will make the reader understand the difficulty of my decision to pick up my first novels and arrange them again in a single new edition. But this immense work will serve the reader to better comprehend the plot, the characters, and the adventures of Fedrick, as well as those who will help him through his odyssey in achieving his goal, because this is the link I want to give to the reader, a link between the author and the reader, a bond of mutual understanding, a bit as if we had been friends for a lifetime, where we understand each other at a glance.
Once this point has been reached, the reader will be able to understand my point of view and compare it with his, since this universe that I have created is so vast that it is easy to get lost among the various colorful images that I myself want to show the reader. So let's get lost together in this vast universe called "The King of Light"!
Frederick A. Chariot
ederico Carro, better known by his pen name Frederick A. Chariot, was born in La Spezia on June 15, 1991.
He grew up in Vernazza, surrounded by the radiant nature of those enchanted places, spending his time immersed in the panorama of the sea and hills, drawing and painting landscapes, taking inspiration for his subsequent works. At elementary school, he knows the one who will become her childhood friend, with whom he will share laughter and good moments. Later, he enrolled in the Artistic High School, where his artistic side emerged more and more, revealing his interest in the world of writing. From there, he soon writes his first draft of his book "Il Segreto del Verziere". At the beginning of his last year in high school, her childhood friend is victim of an accident, an event that changes the artist’s course, dedicated himself primarily to the world of music. On that incident he writes a poem dedicated to her, which will later become her first song. After finishing school, Federico began taking lessons in singing, arrangement, piano, and composition, from which he gradually began to outline the project of his first musical album.
While his interest in various musical artists such as Michael Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, and Whitney Houston makes him grow more and more, thus characterizing him in the pop genre, Federico begins to imitate his idol Michael Jackson in dance, taking lessons in hip-hop and performing around his country as his imitator.
Expanding his interests from pop music to blues and jazz, to which he manages to create a small musical group, playing mostly pieces of jazz, blues, and bossa nova as an accompaniment to the piano, Federico, in continuing to work on the record, works in parallel to write his first novel "Il Segreto del Verziere". From there, soon ends his first song dedicated to her missing friend, titled "Come un Lampo".
Shortly after the band dissolved, Federico then decided to take on the project of recording his album through an independent recording studio in Carrara called Nautilus Rec Studio. Thanks to the help of his vocalist and other collaborators who support him, Federico manages to complete the album entitled "Come un Lampo”, and from the album he manages to create his first music video on the same song dedicated to her childhood friend. At the same time, he manages to finish his book "Il Segreto del Verziere" and other music videos such as "Lovely Storm" and "Replace my Soul". He also creates a promotional video of his first novel, using the scenes and mysterious places that frame up Vernazza. At the same time, by reading medieval stories and legends, he finds interesting insights into the city of Turin, from which, by studying its archaicity and the mystery that envelops it, he draws inspiration for his second novel, entitled "Il Re della Luce l’Ordine degli Dèi Oscuri".
Subsequently, Federico meets Marco Stanzani, promoter of artists of the caliber of Lunapop, Renato Zero, the Pooh, Paola and Chiara, Modà, Loredana Berté, and many other artists who launched him in the Italian charts with his debut single, "Brucerei il fuoco per te" extracted from his first album "Come un lampo".
The single is placed in 36th place in the rankings of independent Italian artists, in 5th place in the ranking of emerging artists, and in 2nd place for two weeks in Rockol’s Absolut Beginners ranking among the mostlistened-to new artists on radio throughout Italy.
Meanwhile, the single was broadcast on hundreds of radio stations scattered across Italy, Federico decides to shoot the book trailer of his second novel in Turin, where, during the shootings, he is contacted by an international recording house in New York “The Bentley Records”, which, collaborating with recording houses at the level of Sony, Universal Music, and Warner Music, decides to promote his second unreleased album abroad.
He then got the opportunity to present his first novel at the International Salon in Turin. Simultaneously with the release of the second novel, Federico collaborates with Gianluca Sciortino and Tony Esposito for live concerts. As he exhibits his second novel in various cities in Italy, Federico parallels his second album, in which Bentley Records gives him the opportunity to shoot a video clip in New York for his next single "Starlight".
After the end of the above-mentioned album, in the summer, the author releases the first single extract, "Starlight", that gives the name to his second musical CD and, subsequently, "Looking for Pain" on all the radios of Italy and many regional TV, managing to finish with the latter on Vuemme TV. The single "Starlight" manages to place itself on the Italian and European charts, finishing below two positions from Adele’s "Hello" and a position of "No Hero" by Elisa at 76th position, 51st on the Euro Indie Chart, among the most-listened singles across Europe.
Federico is invited to perform at the Teatro del Navile, founded by Lucio Dalla, winning a certificate of merit for the most original musical part. Subsequently, the third single "Rising Flame" comes out simultaneously with the second edition of his second book signed, "Sovera edizioni", presented at the national book fair "Più libri più liberi" in Rome.
Following ends on magazines: "Vip", "Visto" and "Classic Rock", in which the video of "Rising Flame", becomes the soundtrack of the program: "Now Music" and the video of the week on "Vuemme". Then he is invited to Sanremo Sol to present his latest recording work, "Starlight", for which the live TV music video of the piece "Starlight" is presented. Simultaneously with this event, Federico works in parallel with the sequel and English translation of his second novel, thus making his first book in English and translating his second book entitled "The King of Light the Order of the Dark Gods", to which he is invited to the International Salon in Turin, presenting both his second romance in Italian and that translated into English.
Following, he made his third album from his early compositions, titled "The King of Light", using it to promote his fantasy trilogy, which later came out as the sequel to his second novel; in fact, his third book was titled "Il Re della Luce l'Esercito Leviatano".
From there, he gradually creates an additional English version of his third novel, titled "The King of Light the Leviathan Army", where he also creates his first Italian script for his second novel, titled with the same name as the book: "Il Re della Luce l’Ordine degli Dèi Oscuri".
In anticipation of the completion of the other planned projects, Federico is contacted by a North Carolina publishing house "Wisdom House", which is interested in producing his second novel in the United States and Canada. They work together to create a new book in English intended to be promoted abroad.
Meanwhile, new projects are revealed, in which a new review of the first novel, "Il Segreto del Verziere" is thus warmly welcomed by a poet and writer, as well as a Rai journalist and university professor of the caliber of Renato Minore, who agree to write the preface of the manuscript and, following the new volume, Federico will present it to the major publishers in Italy. From this project arises the English version, translated by the same author, of "The Secret of the Orchard", where in a short time he creates a new book trailer in the Italian version for later translation into English. In the meantime, he knows who will make the cover of his first English-language script, in which he, working craftfully on his projects, is no more than the same author as the covers of Tim Burton's script. From there, Federico finally made the script in English from his second novel, titled "The King of Light the Order of the Dark Gods".
He is then contacted by James Essinger, a literary agent, owner of an English publishing house, and graduate of Oxford, who proposes to publish under their publisher, "The Conrad Press". In the meantime, the author wins the second prize at an international literary contest: "Emily Dickinson" with his book, "Il Re della Luce l'Ordine degli Dèi Oscuri".
Federico subsequently decided to make his script participate in film festivals, winning several film competitions in Italy, India, Hollywood, and other countries around the world. At the same time, he was able to write and publish his first collection of poems, entitled "Scintille di Vita la Forza della Natura".
Following in England his third novel in English, "The King of Light the Leviathan Army", Federico manages to publish the new edition of his first novel, "Il Segreto del Verziere" with a new title: "Le Vestigia dell’Antico Splendore" under the publishing house: "Luigi Pellegrini". His second book, The Wisdom House, is titled "The King of Light the Order of the Dark Gods". Subsequently, he won several international literary awards both in the first place and as an honorary mention with his poems drawn from his collection; Federico Carro is chosen to contribute one of his poems to the anthology of Mogol, who after this event wins several official selections with the musical video "Rising Flame", managing to finish as a semi-finalist at a Los Angeles film festival.
During this period of time, the artist writes and manages to conclude his second script from his first novel, "Il Segreto del Verziere". At the same time, he is contacted by a Hollywood producer who has produced several films with great artists such as Martin Scorsese, where together they design a financial plan for the production of the script: "The King of Light the Order of the Dark Gods".
During the global pandemic Federico idealizes a new project to create a subworld in his universe, thus blending together all the works of Fantasy and pure imagination, called: Fedrick Fantasy Kingdom, a project displayed through his YouTube channel that will try to contain all the Fantasy works.
Simultaneously, the author takes his novels into his hands, thus arranging them in the new current versions, covering some holes in the plot, and thereby linking his works with his largest world, titled: "The King of Light".
he King of Light is a Fantasy written in a fairytale key, presented with a modern cut. It is an ambitious project that encompasses many intertwined stories that combine with other sub-plays. Initially titled "The Emperor of the Seas", the work later called "The King of Light" arises from the requirement to express certain values now overtaken or left in an era that can be considered classical.
The King of Light wants to express a unique conception of every collective rational and imaginary thought, thus breaking certain canons prepared over time. The title was elaborated after having personally studied several legends and myths related to the Middle Ages, especially stories related to Turin.
The most fascinating is the one that tells of the black magic triangle and the white magic triangle that circulate through positive and negative energy in some cities. This concept was used by me to compose the basis of the world where the protagonist is thrown, a parallel world to our planet Earth called "Dar Queen’s Planet" or more simply, "The Dark Planet".
Here, Turin is the capital of the world, a city that interacts through a dark bond between the various cities ruled by the Dark Gods, emperors, and kings who rule and manage the entire planet. This system led me to the title of the novel: "The King of Light the Order of the Dark Gods". At the beginning, the project was to end with a single book, but since it would be very long, I wanted to create a trilogy, widening the boundaries of a single novel into several books.
When counting the main/initial trilogy and the two spin-off trilogies, plus the three final novels (which will not result in another trilogy), there are exactly twelve complete novels. (In this counting, for example, my first novel, "Il Segreto del Verziere" is not included since these are books always linked to the world of The King of Light that I have decided to publish later because they could slow down the main plot of the entire work).
All this is a very articulated story that exalts the adventures of Fedrick while also telling the actions of the major antagonists of the plot and narrating the enterprises of the strongest allies who fight alongside Fedrick: Jehrais,
Radamantio, Feil, Fehlt, and Deoream. The latter are very powerful knights who will help the protagonist through his odyssey.
I have not used this word by chance since the route in the main trilogy, The King of Light, takes its origin from the journey of Odysseus (or Ulysses due to the Latin translation thanks to Livio Andronico), but also from the trip of
Aeneas, present in Virgil's Aeneid. As for the path the protagonist must face, The King of Light trilogy presents itself as a middle way between Homer's Odyssey and Virgil's Aeneid. There are many differences and similarities between the Odyssey and the Aeneid, but first among these, I want to highlight the aspect that I think is most important between the two works, namely their oppositions. Aeneas values his actions in such a way that he can give public and social value to what Rome will one day be because it will be he himself who founded Rome, while Odysseus adds value to himself because, through arguments and events centered on his intelligence, he manages to escape the anger of the gods and certain desperate situations.
Fedrick, the main character, can be said to be a mix between the two characters; a hero not entirely classic, however, always tries to defeat the opponent, seeks comparison to improve, but when he is in front of beings well above his potential, he seeks alternative solutions to save the people around him as well as himself. Here appears the intelligence of Odysseus but also the courage of Aeneas. This encounter, however, also occurs within the structure of a very long adventure full of intrigues and mysteries that are coming to light more and more and that will be solved in other novels.
But this will not be enough to make the reader understand the potential of The King of Light, since comparing such historical works to the trilogy in question will make the reader understand only one side of such works (with this one, one does not want to decrease two of the greatest works created by man!).
These examples only serve to compare the journeys of the characters, but the reality of the project is much wider. For example, Fedrick will start as a simple human until he becomes ever stronger, possessing powers that go beyond the human being.
Odysseus and Aeneas instead remain human beings;
Fedrick starts as a crusader, already becoming a semi-divine being from the first novel, but this will not be enough once again to make people understand the journey, the plot, and what follows in the future with the other novels. This is a structure made of puzzles, since every novel is nothing more than a small piece of a giant picture, an immense structure that, to be understood, will have to read every small fragment of the work to fully conceive its messages, its plot, and its very articulate and full of details structure. Some mysteries, as well as some places, characters, intrigues, etc., are inspired by many games that I have always admired a lot.
I cannot fail to mention the Playstation game "Medievil", as well as Diablo and Final Fantasy VIII and X. In addition, I have been very inspired by The Lost Paradise by John Milton, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Star Wars. Only the true fans of these recently cited works will be able to understand where certain points that I have inserted within my various novels are located; some are presented as obvious, while others are hidden by metaphors, by intertwined plots, or by simple elements that the reader will find among the various phrases of the story.
So to fully understand the importance of the work, we must first start from an order that I myself wanted to print (certainly there is always free will, like who wants to start from the main Star Wars trilogy or start directly with the prequel!). First, the reader will have to understand the world that surrounds him and what my work actually talks about, so the first novel of the trilogy is recommended: "The King of Light the Order of the Dark Gods" and then continue with the other two novels of the main trilogy.
Later, the reader will have to understand various subthrills and adventures that could not be implemented in the main trilogy, such as the story of Radamantio, Jehrais, and the elemental trio: Feil, Fehlt, and Deoream. After that, the reader will have to understand the mysteries that envelop the main antagonists of the series and other characters to understand other points, from which there will therefore be another spin-off trilogy (with a total of two spin-off trilogies!). Finally, there will be books that seem separate from the main content but have fundamental importance in understanding the last two final novels that complete the circle of this amazing literary work.
Once all this is expressed, the reader can understand that reading only one "incomplete" novel will not lead him to fully understand the path I wanted to develop in twelve novels.
To admire the work in its entirety, one will have to read all the works to understand and taste the complete picture of this fantastic world called "The King of Light".
Frederick A. Chariot
n August 11, 1099, the day before the last act of the First Crusade, the Battle of Ascalon, a messenger arrives to announce to Godfrey of Bouillon that the vizier al-Afdal is about to cross the Gaza Strip, and in a few days he will be in Jerusalem. Fedrick, a crusader present at such an event, turns out to be very thoughtful about the outcome of the war, and in wondering whether he can return to his beloved, he is attracted by a green light coming out of the Holy
Sepulchre.
In pursuit of the light, the Crusader finds a green stone above the tomb. As soon as he takes the mysterious object with him, it breaks into a thousand pieces, and a light comes out of the crack that makes the crusader faint. Once awakened, Fedrick realizes he is somewhere else altogether, outside of the war that was to be manifested.
Feeling within himself that the girl he loves is still alive, he decides to continue in a large desert with nothing around. Taken then by his desire to find his beloved Isabel, the Crusader ventures to countries and places with names existing in our world, like Bethlehem and Gaza, facing various challenges and obstacles that will put him to the test. When Fedrick realizes that he is in a much more special and dangerous world than he had expected, he must venture into uncharted and entirely new worlds. The closer the young man gets to his loved one and the more he feels her presence within him, the more he signals that she is healthy and that she patiently waits for her loved one to go to save him.
But despite the sign of love, the Crusader will have to collide with the harsh reality of the facts; the truth is very difficult to reach since Isabel is located in Turin, the capital of the Forbidden Empire, the most terrifying, oppressed, and dark place in the world, where the ruler reigns as the head of the Order of the Dark Gods.
The road that separates the couple turns out to be very long and tough, and through a multitude of obstacles, allies who will join his ideal of love, and fierce enemies,
Fedrick will face various tests of audacity, challenging battles, and obstacles at the limit of the human being, trying to destroy and overthrow the Order of the Dark
Gods, who rule the world under their unheard of evil.
Will Fedrick be able to reach out to his beloved and return to his world? What is the real threat hidden within the Order of the Dark Gods? What are their real intentions? What mysteries are hidden in some remote places of this unknown world?
he map of the Dark Planet/Dar Queen’s Planet is presented in some aspects similar to the planet Earth; such a choice by the author is articulated by the fact that the Dark World is the planet parallel to Earth.
This system will be widely developed and articulated in the sequel to the novel, giving the best understanding of the world and the concept of parallel.
The choice of keeping certain names of certain cities, such as Turin, Lyon, Prague, and Bethlehem, is a choice of the author to mix the real cities with those of fantasy, a concept that the author inserts and stipulates on the world map under a different aspect though very similar to the planet Earth.
Some areas present and hidden in the map will be presented in subsequent novels and will be added alongside the release of the author's subsequent works so that the reader will be directed exclusively to the places where the main character adventures.
ver a bright horizon sprinkled with the whispers of a long-running war, the sun was about to come down to the west with its intended color of ruby red. A light breeze danced among thousands of spirals filled with tender lamentations. In a moment of silence, the rush of a messenger was heard, who, with a very important announcement, reached its leader.
He took a breath from the desperate breathlessness of running, stepped forward before his king, and, with words full of agitation, said: “Soon, the vizier Afdal will be here in a few days; he was sighted crossing the strip of Gaza with its immense army!"
Despite the alarmism of the messenger, Godfrey of Bouillon felt calm and confident. With great decisiveness, he proclaimed the message to his loyal crusaders: “May all signal torches be lit and trumpets sounded in all quarters of the city!”
The crusaders flocked to orders through the streets of
Jerusalem. Godfrey got up from the throne with snappy vigor, placing himself in front of his faithful crowd, and declared loudly: “The vizier Afdal, the same one who took the holy city from the Turks, has crossed the Gaza strip and is heading for the gates of Jerusalem with his army, ready to conquer us.
All of us present here are certain of our victory; now let's get ready to detect the enemy of the Lord at the break of dawn tomorrow, all ready before the Holy Sepulcher to have their weapons blessed with prayer!”
All the men raised their voices and swords toward heaven, preparing for the coming battle.
In a short time came a cold and strangely quiet night, and some Crusaders began to retreat into their tents.
One of them, still hesitant to return to his dreams of ephemeral serenity, walked thoughtfully through the streets of Jerusalem.
The crusader stopped, taking in his hands a necklace hidden in his chain mail.
Enchanted by observing this object, another crusader friend of his approached him: “Fedrick, when you take your necklace in your hand, I'm sure of your uncertainty about tomorrow..."
He stood in front of the young man and, laying his hands on his back, continued: "Don’t fear the future, my friend; the double sword you bring will be faithful to you during the battle; don’t miss the gift of your parents for any war in the world!"
Fedrick looked at the Crusader in his eyes and calmly replied: "Humbert, my friend, I am sure of the future, but what will be the right outcome?
That necklace I secretly wear on my neck represents an iron sword, a symbol of courage and dedication... but will it be enough as a double blade for the war that awaits us?"
Humbert responded with a careful smile: "With the Lord on our side, we cannot lose! Now let’s go back and think to regain strength; the next day is waiting for us with our victory!"
As he returned to their tent, Fedrick’s mind was filled with questions about the battle that was about to arise, and within him he felt a dark presence. The young man observed his friend retreating into his tent, turning elsewhere, and walking a path in search of security under the stars, wrapped in the darkness of the night.
His uncertain steps led him to the entrance of the Holy Sepulchre, and with astonishment, he observed a green light that came inside.
As he made his way down until he reached the sacred tomb, he immediately realized that the strange glow came from an emerald-green stone resting on top of the tomb.
Surprised by that rarity, Fedrick acted with an inexplicable impulse, so he reached out his hand and greedily grabbed the stone.
