What is Water Purification?

Water purification removes contaminants from raw water. This helps to make the water clean and pure enough for people to consume. Not only that, water purification is also made for other purposes, such as:

Chemical

Medical

Industrial

Pharmacology

There are different methods to purify water. Some of them include:

Filtration

Reverse Osmosis

Ultraviolet Light

Deionization

Ultrafiltration

Powdered Activated Carbon Treatment

Water Softening

The policies for the quality of drinking water are set by the individual governments. This will include set points on a minimum and maximum scale.

There are some countries that prefer to keep a certain amount of disinfectant (chlorine, for example) in the water after it is processed through the treatment plant. Leaving this in helps lower the risk of water getting contaminated again.

During the water purification process, different elements can be removed from the water to make it cleaner. Some of these elements include:

Parasites

Organic Material that is suspended

Algae

Bacteria

Fungi

Viruses

Calcium Magnesium

Copper

Lead

Chromium

Things like the smell, taste and appearance may or may not be totally removed during water purification.

Health Benefits of Drinking Clean Water

If you’re drinking water that is contaminated, it can affect you adversely. Water that is contaminated contains plenty of toxins. Toxins are not good to have in your body because they can actually stay in the linings or will go into your blood flow. You should drink clean water because it can cleanse your system, regulate your body and provide you with nourishment.

Drinking regular tap water is not necessarily the best solution. Often times, people that don’t purify their water experience a chlorinated or metallic taste. Tap water can also taste heavy when you drink it. In addition to that, pollution has also contributed to contaminating tap water.

Drinking contaminated water can cause you to experience any of the following ailments:

Urinary tract infections

Stomach cramps

Vomiting

Diarrhea

Dehydration

Headaches

Allergies
