Introduction - Why This Information is Important to You

The main reason why there is such a high rate of death from breast cancer is that too many people continue to hold the misconception that if they do not possess certain risk factors, and if they are not in a specific category, that this means they are not at risk of developing this life-threatening disease.

This misconception accounts for the high death rate, even though major advancements have made both early diagnosis and life-saving treatment both possible and readily available.

While certain factors do increase a person's risk of developing breast cancer, the fact is that anyone anywhere can develop it. It is not “an older women's disease” for it can strike young women, children, and even men.

When you have these points in mind, it should be easy to see why gaining information about breast cancer is important for you, regardless of your age, sex, family history, diet, geographical location, or any other additional risk factors!

As the best chance of surviving breast cancer, and living a longer, more healthful life afterward, comes from early detection and early treatment, there is no reason to place your life and your health in danger by holding the misconception that it will not or cannot happen to you. The first key toward safeguarding your health is to learn the facts and the second key is to make your health your priority by applying “early detection means early cure” to your health principles.

It is important for you to take breast cancer seriously, and it is the most practical, sensible way of ensuring that your life will not be cut short by this disease! Learn the facts, and put them into practice, for the sake of your health and your life!

Chapter 1 - Let's Keep a Positive Outlook

The subject of breast cancer is scary! In fact, fear accounts for one of the main reasons for this disease being so deadly! Many people, especially those who have known someone who died of this disease, find the entire subject to be so worrisome and so distressing that they refuse to confront it. Unfortunately, when this fear leads them to refrain from getting checked for breast cancer on a regular basis, they are significantly lowering their chances for the early treatment which would greatly increase their chances for survival and better health.

The best way to combat this fear, and thus to improve your chances of breast cancer being arrested in its earliest stages, is to keep a positive outlook!

The most sensible and helpful way in which you can give yourself this positive outlook is to approach the subject of breast cancer with an accurate perspective on the amazing developments which have been made in both detection and treatment.

In the past, breast cancer was indeed something to be greatly feared. In the past, there were fewer options for early detection; and, as a result, most people who developed breast cancer did not know they had it until it had progressed far beyond the stage in which it could be arrested. In addition, in the past there were fewer options for treatment in general.
