I gasped as I reared awake, looking around the abandoned valley, finding nothing but these creatures that look like they were...crushed. But that wasn't my only problem however, giant rock walls sprung out of the ground and threating to crush me beneath their might.

The Cave and Valley

"Come on, it's perfectly safe Jason," my best friend, Derek, called to me and my other friend Robert as he walked over to the middle of the forest and dropped his stuff on the ground.

I didn’t reply as I took a deep breath and stormed over to him, snorting in frustration as Derek's cocky grin was the first thing to grin. "I heard you the first time," I said angrily, crossing my arms over my chest and glaring at my friend. “I don’t need you to remind me.”

Derek rolled his eyes and walked away from me, flashing me a shrug as he continued on. “Well, you didn’t answer me the first time, so I didn’t know if you heard me or not. Gees man, are you still bitter that I dragged you out here.” His tone of voice set something off in me and I felt my anger boil inside me and nothing could stop it inside, not even the calming sounds of the forest.

“Bitter?! Yes I am, you know how much I hate being in tight spaces and caves!” I shouted angrily, my rage exploding free from my gut like a violent volcano. Derek only snickered at my response and rolled his eyes, making me even more tense. Robert, being the most reasonable one of us, grabbed my left arm and pulled me back.

“Calm down man,” he exclaimed, pulling me backwards toward our brown leather bags and sitting me down. “I’m sure Derek didn’t mean that though I’m not too sure, but we came out here for a reason, maybe we should just try to enjoy this as much as possible.”

I gave a sigh and stood back up before approaching Derek who had pulled out a map from his backpack. “Okay man, what are you doing?” I asked, unsure of what he was doing. He turned back to me and grinned. “You know those caves we’re visiting?” he asked me and Robert, we both looked at each other and nodded.

“Well, according to this map, the primary way to get out of the cave is upwards, but I heard there’s a right tunnel to enter in safely. So if we find the right tunnel in the forest which is downwards here.” Derek pointed his finger toward the right forest path where a small valley could be seen in the distance. “Then I’d say we could make it to the caves safely.”

“I beg your pardon, but where is the first entrance to the cave?” Robert asked, staring at Derek. “Yeah man,” I started, walking over to him to grab his shoulder however if in slow motion, the ground opened up, causing me to drop into the caves below. “Jason!” both my friends yelled as they tried to grab my arms but only missed as I fell into the dark.
