Chapter 1

“Sometimes you have to lose a battle to learn a new way to win the war.” Donald Trump

Chapter 1

Erikka Sanz hadn’t been Erikka Sanz in a decade since taking the codename Miasma. She never thought she would have to go back. Some nights she would wake from her sleep and have to remind herself she was no longer in a camp, no more scientists pretending to care about anything more than the limits of her “ability.” In a way she was thankful for her unique ability to regenerate if not for it the Federal Union would never have come calling.

She was trained at twelve to be a killer, at fourteen she was carrying out hits for the feds. She never lost focus on her goal to be free. After an ambush she escaped on a barge headed for Sanguine and never looked back, that was fourteen years ago, now the past came walking out of the flames of her current conflict against ECHO. A tall ghoul faced revenant. A boy she once called her best friend, a man she now hardly recognized. He had been short and stout and daily bullied by guards and other Vicissians with more “direct” abilities. The power he displayed was unlike any she had seen. He had stopped an armored wheeled tank with one hand. No wonder he took over.

He blamed her, even now for leaving him. She felt guilty every day for being selected and taken away by the Skarlet Regime. Who knew she would end up coming full circle back to Ozz? “Erikka!” shouted Amethyst. She turned looking blankly. “Jesus woman, we are in the middle of a battle! Are you good?” Kommando said. “Yea…I’m good.” she lied. She really didn’t want to talk about it…hell she didn’t even want to think about it.

Around her ECHO troopers fell back towards the northern tier and the docks leading out to sea. Somehow her legs were moving as she and her teammates spilled into the concourse’s main front entrance. “What are we even doing?!” June shouted. “We have to find Adel and Michael, I have her com on GPS.” Tout’s voice answered through her wristcom. “Head north. Hurry, they’re there now!” June shouted leading the way. “He’s really going to kill the guy in the hoverchair?” Kommando asked puzzled. “Would you shut up?” Alik growled as they sprinted through the wide open lobby. Bodies and body parts covered the floor telling a tale no one wanted to hear. Some agents had been caught completely unaware at their desks their skulls blown open from behind. What a mess. Erikka thought. “Michael is down!!” Tout reported. “What?! No!” June shouted. “500 meters forward and then a left.” Tout directed them. With Amethyst and Erikka in the lead they sprinted through the aftermath of ECHO’s betrayal rounding the corner where they saw a door ahead of them. “Everyone ready?” Erikka asked as they reached the door one hand on her plasma rifle the other on the door handle.

“Right behind you lass.” Lorne said readying his war axe as the other prepared their arms. “When we step through fan out.” Erikka commanded. “Erikka stop! Don’t open the…” Tout’s voice was stifled by an explosion of energy. The door blew open knocking Amethyst and Erikka back into the others.

Adel cradled Michael in her arms. “No, please no.” she said sobbing into his chest that had two cauterized holes in it. He wasn’t breathing, ECHO had finished their mission. In an instant her anguish morphed into broiling rage. They would pay, ECHO, The Dimchevs, all of them would pay. Adel clenched her fists rocketing up through the shattered window. She hovered her body bathed in a crystalline aura. “How dare you!!!” Adel growled. Pickitt stepped forward. “Who knew he had a Dirian girlfriend?” Pickitt said looking around smirking. “Shut your mouth!!!” Adel

Shouted leveling Pickitt with a sharp right cross that sent her sprawling back through the president’s desk. Before she could react Haash’s fist was buried in her abdomen.

Next Pickitt flew into her driving her knee into Adel’s nose. Adel shot through the wall behind her crashing into the lawn below gouging a massive trench. Adel rose shaking her head, and as she went to stand the wind picked up around her and Michael floated to his feet.  Adel and The Dimchevs watched as his wounds healed his eyes blazing blue hot. “Michael?” Adel said eyes widening in disbelief. Haash and Pickitt exchanged a surprised look as Michael walked soundlessly towards them.

Adel leaped to her feet standing beside him as he stopped looking up at the twins. There was a piercing cry like an eagle in a flash Michael flew up to face Haash Dimchev. “Well, this is unexpected.” Haash said plainly. “Grrragh!!!” Michael snarled spinning his swords. Haash raised an eyebrow. “Swords? Really? How pedestrian.” Haash scoffed raising a palm towards Michael. Before he could attack Michael was next to him slashing at him with his weapons. Haash caught one blade and blocked the other with his forearm. Biting pain met his defense. “Haash, you’re bleeding!” Pickitt exclaimed. Michael back flipped landing before them blood dripping from his weapons.

Haash Dimchev frowned. “Normally, any metal that comes into contact with my skin disintegrates.” he growled. “We don’t have time for-” Adel cut off Pickitt’s words with another savage blow to the jaw, this time Pickitt back flipped firing a bolt of blue lightning at her. Adel crossed her arms blocking it. “Fucking Dirians!” Pickitt roared spearing Adel through a wall behind her. The wall exploded and Adel planted her feet in Pickitt’s abdomen as they rolled throwing her off.

Both recovered landing on their feet. Pickitt was a head taller than Adel who took a fighting stance eyes glowing white hot. “It looks like I’m going to be responsible for the death of yet another “warrior” class of Diria.” “Shut up and fight!” Adel snarled uppercutting her fiercely. Daniel Konnor woke up on the floor blood running from his nose and eyes. He looked up just in time to see Haash kick Michael back and through a wall next to the destroyed window. He slowly crawled towards the back of his office gasping for air. “Say…where do you think you’re going?” Daniel Konnor froze turning and looking up into the smiling face of Haash Dimchev. He could see the savage glee in his liquid blue eyes, he was enjoying this, he was going to take him apart a piece at a time. Outside Micheal righted himself, rolling to his feet and flying back up into the President’s office.

“SEV-” Michael’s attack was halted by Haash who grabbed his wrists in one massive hand. “I’ll be with you in a moment.” he said looking over his shoulder at the president. He kicked him center mass, the president flew back, wrapping around a pillar and landing on his shoulder, unconscious. Michael struggled to free himself as his gloves began to dissolve. Michael headbutted him, Haash stepped back, blood running from his left nostril.

Michael freed himself slicing at Haash’s face, Haash backbent punching Michael in the liver then catching him by the face. His grip was like an iron vice holding him fast. “Aggh!” Michael groaned as his mask began to deform. Michael stabbed forward Haash released back handing him into a glass display case that erupted around him, showering him with glass and wood splinters. He could feel unfamiliar energy surging through him, keeping him focused, keeping him going. This was nothing like the battle with Seth. Dimchev, whatever he was-was more durable, faster, and stronger than either of them. But his swords…they were the difference maker. Haash pulled one of Michael’s swords from his chest studying the blade curiously. Whatever this metal was, he didn’t like it.

Chapter 2

Bioman raised his arms dusters as two dusters appeared on his fist surging with violet energy. He swung, connecting solidly with the android’s iron chin, a thunderous report resounded from the impact but the behemoth remained. “Surrender now! You are in violation!” The titanic metal titan ordered, eyes blazing angry red.

“Violate this!!” Bioman growled, swinging at the android again. In a flash the android vanished, appearing behind him. Bioman flew forward, crashing through the fountain, and rolling onto the grass. He recovered, standing as the android deployed it’s chain wrapping it around his neck. “Submit!” The android buzzed. Electricity surged from the android directly into Bioman, “Yaargh!!!” Bioman grunted as his muscles contracted and his armor seized. “Bioman, you have to get out of there!” Tout shouted, “Duely noted.” Bioman groaned, grabbing the chain and yanking downwards. The android fell forward, stopping the surge which allows Bioman to free himself, refocusing. Bioman leaped backwards, “LALI, analyze for weak points.” Bioman ordered. “Scanning…” LALI responded. Bioman saw three points highlighted in his visor, “Time to take this self righteous tin can down.” Purple Bioenergy surged around his armor as he drew back again, the android raised its shield, swinging with the chain for his neck again. Bioman raised his left arm catching the chain and yanking once more. This time the android kept its purchase. Learning CPU, great. Bioman’s fist smash through its left chestplate, sparks exploding from the blow. Bioman’s legs buckled as the android’s shield crashed into the side of his head.
