Chapter 1

Buzzkyll

                                                                    Chapter I

Our story begins in a modern society of fast cars, movies, fleeting dreams and other distractions. The United Territories of America is the world's only superpower and the world is in a state of obtuseness. In the territory of the Great Lakes there was an upper class city named Violet Hills. It was said at sunrise and sunset the two monstrous hills at the edge of the city would turn violet in the prevailing sunlight, hence the name. This world began to be populated by strange unknown energies, energies that caused-odd things to occur.

Strange species began to emerge from seemingly nowhere and plants and animals were taking on unusual characteristics such as predatory tendencies in normal  house plants and rodents growing to astronomical size. Enter one Professor Johan Stroheim. Prof. Stroheim was well respected in the scientific fields for his development of clean biological energy that could be used in all appliances and for weapons manufacturing. Prof. Stroheim also was a foremost expert on all things paranormal and preternatural, his understanding of these things were the edge to him creating many cutting edge healing and functional devices.

Only his assistant Natalie Lee was as astute in those areas. In his research Stroheim discovered that all the aberrations worldwide were seemingly connected to the strange developments. Why was no one officially looking into this? He couldn't be the only one noticing the correlation and increase in paranormal and cryptozooloical episodes. He had made a living with science, and now it was his best bet to uncover the truth of what was happening.

Prof. Stroheim lived in Stroheim mansion on the outskirts of Violet Hills with his two children Allison his daughter, and Jonathin his adopted son. Though Jon resembled neither he was loved and accepted by his father and sister. He plied his trade while his children attended school and lived in peace and tranquility. Time passed as it always does and his children ceased to be children anymore they were coming up on their last days in high school at Tyrian High the more urban and working class school in Violet Hills, though they were well off his children were always taught to help the less fortunate and to appreciate what they had and each other.

Days before their graduation Prof. Stroheim noticed a spike in the abnormal energy readings...right in their backyard. The coordinates he mapped out placed the crux of the energy spike in the center of Campbell reserve. Campbell reserve was a section of Violet Hills owned exclusively by the wealthiest resident of Violet Hills Clayton Campbell. This would be getting messy indeed it seemed. He couldn't ignore the readings, especially when "things" started happening locally.

At first there were sparse reports of an anamoly here and there, in a matter of weeks as the energy signature grew, so did the strangeness of things. Something had to be done, first he would seek an audience with Mr. Campbell and get his take on things, on the contingency perhaps it was time for  him to bring his progeny into the fold, he prayed he never would, that they could be spared from such things in this life, one way or another they would be made to know the situation, better they hear it from him than on the internet he decided. Perhaps their summer of lounging and partying would have to be put on hold, at least till a more permanent solution could be achieved.

Stroheim sat at his desk rubbing his eyes behind his glasses, it was a shame really, but he also knew there was more to this than met the eye. That's what bothered him. It couldn't be this....no not this. "Daddy?" Stroheim turned to see his daughter Allison, Alli for short. "Allison, I didn't see you zere, vhat can I help you vith?" he asked studying her. Her long blonde hair and radiant blue eyes reminded him of his estranged wife Alli's mother. "Me, Jon and the others are gonna hang here tonight, is that cool?" she asked smiling sweetly

He could never say no to that smile, besides he was glad that they had such close friends he liked them all and thought of them as his own. It seemed since he could remember they were a tight knit group. "Of course." he said smiling at her. Allison studied him for a moment tilting her head. "You ok dad?" she questioned as he yawned. "Fine. Vhy do you ask?" "Because you look like something's on your mind, does it have anything to do with the research you have been doing? You've been at it tougher than I've ever seen." Stroheim sighed sliding back in his chair. "Zere are some sings ve need to discuss, but allow me to get a nap and ve'll talk later." "Ok dad we'll be out back in the pool if you need us." Alli said kissing him on the forehead. "Don't work too late." she said as she exited. Stroheim sighed again thinking of the youthful innocence in her eyes....if only he could shield them from what was to come.

Chapter 2

 Chapter 2

Allison, Jonathin, and their friends Marty a.k.a. Blak Mart, Napolean, and Deacon, sat around the pool enjoying the warm evening. Alli and the others talked while Jon meditated at poolside. Alli smirked looking at Marty and Napolean who were identical twins, Marty was her on again off again and Napolean was one of her best friends. Deacon...was another story ever since preschool he had been trying to get with Allison, the only reason she tolerated him at all was because he was Jon's bestie.

"Watch this." she said climbing in the pool and quietly swimming over by Jon's silent form. Alli looked back at the twins smirking, Napolean grimaced and Marty showed no expression merely shook his head, they both knew what was coming next. Alli drew back and splashed at Jon. Jon gasped as the coolish water drenched him. "Alli, what the hell?!" Jon growled glaring at her as his bangs stuck to his face. "Aww, what's wrong ninja boy? Feelin a little soggy? Ha ha ha." Alli laughed. Jon stood up and walked away slowly, he always took everything so seriously, even when they were kids.  "Yo Jon dude, wait up!" Deacon said running after him.

Alli swam back over to the twins leaning against the wall by Marty. "He really is taking those losses in the dojo to heart." Marty commented. "I whooped him and now he's been working on his "Taijutsu" more than ever now. I swear that old man has filled his head with such nonsense, I mean Ninjutsu, really?" Alli scoffed. Allison was an expert martial artist Graceful and skilled she was the top student in her class. Her power and strength were second to none. Marty and Napolean were also experts in hand to hand all four of them had been studying since they were 5. Jon's training was different Taki-Mora  Ninjutsu was his art and his sensei was an old man that lived in the junkyard.

One day Jon and Deacon had been climbing the fence and got caught, by him and from that day on the old man took Jon under his wing and trained him as a shinobi. He taught him Jutsu and trained him via the 18 core principals of Ninja. She could respect that, but his Taijutsu (Unarmed combat) was no match for her. She loved teasing him because he was always so serious about things, he would even cut class to go train. It wasn't that she wanted to hurt him, she just wanted him to act like he had a heartbeat once in awhile.

It made her sad to see him so restrained all the time, you could never tell what that boy was thinking. He showed no emotion or indication he had any. He was even worse than Marty with that shit. She knew it was hard for him being an orphan that was literally left on their doorstep when he was 1 year old with a note that read: "His name is Jonathin Krain" Very vague to say the least, and what circumstances would cause someone to abandon their own child? Daddy had brought him in and raised him like his own and for all intents and purposes that was her brother.

She loved him to death and only wanted a little happiness for him. "Man, I can't believe we graduate in two weeks." Napolean said combing through his pompadore. It was entirely unknown why but since he could walk and talk Napolean acted like the king himself. He was a gifted musician and often played the school proms with his band and had several groupies from both high schools. "I know right, this summer is gonna be awesome." Alli said smiling. "Yup, and maybe we can get your brother to actually enjoy himself this time." Marty commented putting a cigarette in his mouth and lighting it.  "In the pool really? It's bad enough you have that stupid skully on, but now this too?" Alli griped. "It's a package deal cupcake." Marty retorted. Alli's eyes narrowed. "You're lucky you're cute Marty." she said smirking.

Jon and Deacon sat on the roof Jon unbinding his ponytail and wringing out his shoulder length black hair. "Dude, don't let Alli get to you." "She's not,  it's just I've been thinking about this whole graduation thing, we will be full fledged adults in two weeks, what the hell are we gonna do with ourselves?" "Party hardy my dude. Summer on West Carmel sounds gnarly." Deacon said smiling. Jon looked at his friend his best friend since preschool they couldn't be more different Deacon a spiky blonde surfer and he a gothic shinobi who operated better in the shadows, but Deacon brought out a side of him he showed to few even his family.

"Deacon, does anything ever phase you?" "No way dude I have the endless summer in my heart." "Well that's ok with me." Jon said smiling. "Speaking of So cal, my connect sent me some Diamond Boy Kush, care to sample?" Deacon said pulling a joint from his pocket. Jon smirked. "This is why we're best friends, you always know how to make me feel better." Jon said. "Hey that makes up for all the bullies you've ko'ed in my honor bro."

Deacon said firing up. Jon shrugged. "You're my boy, I don't care what anyone says." "Amen to that." Deacon said passing to Jon. Jon took a silent drag and coughed loudly. "Damn that's stout." Jon managed between hacks.

"Here's to the future my dude." "To the future." Jon said passing back to him. "So now that that's settled, think Alli will be my date to The Senior Luau graduation night?" "Anything is possible my friend, anything. She's not with Marty, right now." Jon chuckled. Deacon nodded-those two. The night air was warm and comforting and everything was as it should be, life was good.

Prof. Stroheim sat in his office the phone to his ear. "Yes...but Mr. Camp.....I see. Sank you for your time." Stroheim slammed down the receiver, this was getting odder by the moment. Campbell had blatantly refused to even allow him access to the reserve and threatened legal action if he was within fifty feet of it. It was obvious now he was concealing something. Something had to be done. If this was what he thought it was then.....no. He wouldn't even entertain the thought, it was undeniable though the past was coming back in a haunting manner, a past he wanted to forget with all his heart. He rose from his chair walking downstairs into his laboratory slowly the motion lights activated and he walked through the many sections to his vault in the back where he kept special weapons and items out of the wrong hands.

He opened the vault via retinal and thumb identification and walked in slowly. It hadn't been since he left Elteria that he'd been down here. He had hoped it was all a bad dream, but this room reminded him it just wasn't so. It was happening here in this time, in this world, he couldn't even begin to explain everything to his children. He stopped looking at several glass cases with magical seals on them, he prayed he would never have to unseal these, but the more info he gathered the more it was apparent that he would have to. Before that though he needed to take this higher up the chain, he needed to bring this to the worlds attention. The United Nations was having a summit in Kellington D.C. the capital of the territories, that was his best bet. He had the evidence he just had to be careful to spare his family any involvement and hopefully the world government would take the reigns and act on this. Given the evidence, they would have no choice.

Chapter 3

"Ok Professor, so this is the deal, though we have this evidence we will need a second on the floor to get them to look into things, I suggest Prof. Darko seeing as how you guys have been friends for years. After that they will designate a committee blah blah blah and they'll probably give you a medal or something. Best case scenario." Natalie said smiling sheepishly. She could see the look on Stroheim's face, he didn't share her enthusiasm. There was a genuine effort to cover these things up for some reason.  He felt uneasy, he was about to go before the world and tell them that there were monsters and man eating plants, he even thought that was a bit much, even with hardcore evidence. What a world. "Sank you Natalie. I pray that your right." he said looking over his notes again, he really didn't need them he knew them like the back of his hand.

In his sport jacket pocket was a mini version of the Vimmeter that he used to scan the abnormal energy flows and ebbs. As he looked over his notes he felt it vibrate in his pocket. "Hmm." he said as he pulled it out looking it over. There was abnormal energies here as well. The source was directly through the door he was about to walk through. The hair on the back of his neck stood up and he swallowed hard his mouth dry as the Mojave. "You ok Boss? Natalie asked her green eyes alert with concern.  He looked at her and she could see his piercing blues even behind his glasses, something was decidedly fishy here. "Perhaps you should vait here my dear." "No way, I'm with you all the way I don't care, now what is it? What's wrong?"

As he started to answer the doors opened and the door attendant stood before them glaring at them like one would a mound of road apples in the street. Stroheim stuck the Vimmeter in his pocket and walked forward slowly Natalie holding his binders of notes and graphs. "They will see you now." the attendant said gruffly. Stroheim glared back perhaps in a different setting he'd jam his fist down this glorified doorman's throat, but now just wasn't the time. Prof. Stroheim walked onto the floor seeing several of his peers inn the scientific community, maybe things would go the way they needed them too. The head of the World Government Isel Chambers sat before them with the representatives from the other countries. Stroheim stood looking up at the podium as Isel and the others regarded him as they would a madman.

"Professor Johan Stroheim, we understand you have evidence of an anamoly?" Isel said raising an already skeptical eyebrow. "Yes, based upon my research ve have a growing energy pattern vorldwide zhat is affecting zhe flora and fauna in most abnormal vays." "Energy pattern? I suppose you have documentation of this?' "Yes, we do.." Natalie said walking forward with their data. Stroheim grabbed her arm shaking his head. "Not yet." he whispered. She nodded. "To be honest ve haven't time to debate, vherever Zhis energy pops up zese sings are occuring more and more frequently, zomething must be done or at ze very least looked into more in depth." "Interesting, so let me ask you something Professor, we've done some research of our own, and we have a few questions." Isel began shuffling some papers and adjusting his glasses. Natalie gave the Professor a worried glance.

"According to our research those energies you have cited as abnormal are being caused by your so called clean energy source. It's all here in detail in this report." "That's a lie!" Natalie shouted growing angry. "Natalie." Prof. Stroheim said patting her on the shoulder. His colleagues were here they'd seen his equipment and energy source at work, any moment now someone would speak up and quell this absurdity. "Zhese accuzations are unfounded and ze have no basis in ze truth vhatsoever. I sink my peers vould have zomething to zay about zis." Stroheim said turning to his longtime friend and compatriot Prof.Klaus Darko they had been college roommates and almost like family. "Johan." he said looking down. Stroheim's eyes widened he saw the look on Darko's face, he had no intention of speaking on his behalf. He scanned the crowd of his friends and peers, all wore pensive and confused expressions. They knew the truth, why weren't they speaking up?! Natalie looked around frantically it was getting very tight in here. "Professor Darko? Professor Owens you've seen the bio maps and the very source of our power! Why aren't you saying anything?!" Natalie demanded grabbing Professor Darko by his jacket.

"That's quite enough of this three ring circus! I want them out of here now!" Isel demanded as two men with sunglasses and black suits entered one taking Natalie by the arm and the other reaching for Stroheim. Stroheim looked at Darko one last time glaring at him angrily. Darko turned away as did the others who fidgeted and looked down as they were lead out. Both got to the door Natalie struggled and the one holding her shoved her back into a wall. Before they knew what hit them Prof. Stroheim dropped them with two solid punches that connected upon their jaws. "Fick dich" he swore in German. He walked over to Natalie. "Are you alright?'" "Fine, what the hell just happened in there?' "It appears zhe conspiracy is in full effect." Prof. Stroheim growled helping her up. Quickly they gathered their notes and headed for the nearest exit.

They had to get home ASAP, for one thing the kids graduation was coming up and also he knew he hadn't seen the last of this situation it was just starting and it seemed they were on their own. He thought again of the kids and their friends, he really hated to bring them into this conflict but he had no choice now, they were the only ones he could trust. "It seems we'll be needing to go into the vault." "The vault? Really sir?" "Yes, and I think it's time for my children to learn a bit about the real world." Natalie nodded she remembered when her education began about how things really were, it seemed there was much more to learn about these days.

Alli, Marty, Deacon, and Napolean stood outside the front door to Tyrian high. School was out and they were waiting on Jonathin. The flood of students exited the school and Jon finally appeared bag slung over his shoulder. "The Jon dude!" Deacon said giving him dap as he walked up to them. "Took you long enough shinobi chan." Alli teased. "Eh." Jon replied. "So....I didn't see you in third period today, did you cut again?" Alli asked glowering at him. Marty and Napolean both looked opposite directions and Deacon froze along with Jon. "So what if I did? Sensei is teaching me a new jutsu." "He's always teaching you a new jutsu." Alli said. "What's your problem Alli? My work gets done and obviously I'm making it to the podium, get off my tip." Jon said walking ahead. "Daddy called from Kellington D.C. this morning." "What'd he say?' "He'll be back tonight instead of friday, and he wants to talk to you and me about "zomething important" Alli said making air quotes. "Sounds cool maybe he got me those Fujisan speakers." "I doubt it, something's been bugging him lately." "Like what?" "Not sure it has to do with all that research he's been doing recently." "Hmm." Jon said. "What? What is it?" Alli questioned seeing the look on his face.

"Right before he left I overheard him and Natalie talking about some strange happenings around the hills, I wonder if that's what he meant." "Well whatever it is he wants us home tonight to discuss it so it looks like no pool hall tonight." "Damn." Marty said shaking a cigarette from his pack and putting it in his mouth. It was amazing how he could even see with that damn hat pulled over his eyes all the time, he and his brother were unique to say the least. "Guess we will reschedule for tomorrow, you chumps don't stand a chance." Alli said smirking. "Wouldn't bet on it mama." Napolean said combing his hair and walking beside them. "Dude I totally own at pool." Deacon said dancing in place. "Sure." Jon commented as they came to their front gate. "You guys wanna hang for a bit?" Jon asked. "Actually Napolean and I have some chores to catch up on  Gran's gonna ring our necks." Marty said Napolean's face darkened "Blue Wednesday it is." Napolean sang. "D?" "I can hang a bit, as long as Alli's gonna be around." he said smiling at her. Alli rolled her eyes crossing her arms. "Need any help with those chores boys?" Alli asked in exasperation.

"No, I think we got this, you kids have fun." Marty said smirking as he and Napolean walked up the street and turned towards their home. Deacon still smiled at Allison as Jon opened the gate. "I'm starving." Jon said "If we have any rice left I'll steam us up some and put some pizza rolls in the oven." Alli offered. "Sounds like a plan, hope there's some soda left." Deacon said excitedly. "I do love pizza rolls. and steamed rice." Jon said licking his lips. "Good I'll get everything started." Alli said. "Need help?' Deacon asked. Jon shook his head smiling let it never be said that D wasn't persistent. "Sure you can start by sticking your head in the oven, while its preheating." she said walking up the path and inside Stroheim mansion. Deacon entered following her to the kitchen and Jon stood on the front porch looking out over the large lawn and grounds of his home. Besides the dojo this was the only place he felt like he was supposed to be. He took a deep breath and stepped inside-now about those pizza rolls.

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Alli and Jon sat studying their father as he sat shuffling his notes and arranging what he had to say. This would be hard to hear...all the way around. “First of all I am sorry zat you two had to cancel your plans for zis evening.” he began. “No sweat dad, Alli was just gonna show off all night anyways.” Jon chuckled as Alli shot him a glare. “So what were you gonna tell us daddy?” Alli asked anxiously fidgeting in her chair. Stroheim’s face darkened and and he set his notes down. “Ve are vading into an extreme situation, a scenario I prayed you kids vould never see. If ze vorst happens, contact my partner Professor Marcus Chaos. He vill know vat to do.” “The worst?” Jon said raising an eyebrow.
