Nearing the end of autumn right after Thanksgiving, lies a day unlike any other.
It’s a day where monsters are unleashed, spooks arise, thrills and chills are allowed out to roam the streets and frightened the unsuspecting citizens.
It’s a day where children and adults can dress up as anything they like and roam the streets in the darkness, collecting candy from others.
It’s a day where pumpkins transform into ghoulish looking creatures with sharp teeth and evil glowing eyes capable of lighting up the night and casting fear into their victims.
It’s a day where thousands of years ago, people dressed in masks to scare away the darkness and the creatures within and danced around fires to keep warm in the cool air of autumn.
It’s a day of nothing but terror, candy, celebration and old traditions. It is called HALLOWEEN.
“Kitty! Kitty!” called the voice of a young child who was all dressed up in a pink fairy princess costume. She swung her head around in both the right and left directions as she tried to look for her pet cat who had gone missing a few hours ago.
She took a deep breath as she forwarded her head to look at the dark yet normal road ahead of her.
She hoped to find some kind of sign as to where her cat had gone, however the only thing she could find was the yellow lines resting on the road and no clues to her whereabouts.
Panic started to rise up in the poor child’s gut and she started to assume the worst had happened to her cat. Had she been stolen? Had someone found her and taken her away to somewhere she didn’t know? Was she…?
The young girl shook her head furiously, trying to shake off those awful thoughts away from her brain. “What are you thinking about, Taylor?” The girl thought to herself, bringing her hand to her head. “Kitty isn’t like those cats to go running up to anyone or off to nowhere, I’m sure she’s fine and just waiting for you...somehow.”
Taylor sighed heavily and brought her hands down and wrapped them around her body as she had begun to shiver from the fall cold wind that passed over her. “I hope she’s okay,” she muttered as she bowed her head. “But of course, she’ll be okay, I know she is.”
Those words of comfort she whispered to herself did little to calm her freaking out mind as it kept going back to assuming the worst or even worse if that was possible had happened to Kitty.
However Taylor wouldn’t stop searching for her until she found her, no matter how hopeless her situation seemed to be.
