According to the Office, for National Statistics (ONS), “The total number of unemployed people has increased by 81,000 in the past three months and now stands at 1.72 million. This the highest level since June 1999, when it reached 1.74 million” (Butterworth, 2008). Since 2008, the United States has experienced instability in unemployment status. According to the Labor Force Statistics (November, 2019), the status as per the end of year from 2009 to 2018: 2009 – 9.9%; 2010 – 9.3%; 2011 – 8.5%; 2012 – 7.9%; 2013 - 6.7%; 2014 – 5.6%; 2015 – 5.0%; 2016 – 4.7%; 2017 – 4.1%; 2018 - 3.9%. Good news! Unemployment continues to drop; it is now 3.6% as of November 2019 (Bureau of Labour Statistics, 2019).
