The Magical Tarot invites the reader to match the cards with the work of spells and magic spellcasting. It is the result of the passion and continuous study of the writer, who was lucky enough to have grown up in an open and esoteric home. It is a collection of insights into the Tarot and its magical properties.Aimed at a wide audience, it is literally an open book, welcoming everyone into its pages of wisdom, insight, and guidance, with a few laughs along the way. The words are accompanied by a full deck of 78 cards, beautifully illustrated by the extraordinarily talented Annie Meyburgh. Together, they create a perfect magical combination that will hopefully inspire and captivate any reader.
Samantha Guillaume for almost 30 years has read the Tarot Cards for her friends, family and her returning clients. She loves the magical world created when the Tarot and Wicca are combined. She uses the Tarot as a guiding tool as well as for magical work. She believes that the Universe has a plan for us all- the art of life is to find that path and try to live it fully. She has been blessed to have lived in the United Kingdom and South Africa, both have their diverse energies with which to work. She has met many teachers through her years in working with the Tarot, all of which have helped and guided her to this point. They are all students of these oracles and learn something new each and every day. Her hope is that this guide can bring Magic and Tarot into the lives of beginners as well as seasoned readers.

“Words are, in my not so humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of Magic” -Albus Dumbledoor (JK Rowling)
For Suzy, Janie and Issy
Ok, so I believe at least seven-in-ten people have been to a Tarot Reader, Clairvoyant, Medium or Palm Reader – to name but a few of the Spiritual mediums. I grew up in a very esoteric family, and so, fortunately, I was used to things going bump in the night or bumping into Ghosts at night.
These are the ideas, interpretations and influences of various people, teachers and even clients all come together in what I hope will give insight, inspiration, and lots and lots of Magical use for you and your cards.
Choosing your Deck is as important as getting the right fit in underwear! I heard (and follow the teaching) that one cannot buy a deck of cards. One may choose, and then someone else must purchase them for you. Another school of thought is that one must steel one’s deck – but I must admit, with the Karmic rule of 3x3x3 and Akasha always watching, I would be a little nervous of that method of getting my deck! Still, each to their own.
Ask your friends or group if you belong to one, if you may look at their cards. Really look at them, taking in the energy and pictures of each card. You will get insights and thoughts and see images that are not that obvious. Once you are drawn to the deck you will know. Rather like in J.K Rowlings ‘Harry Potter and the Philosophers’ Stone’ when Harry is told that “The Wand chooses the Wizard”, your deck will call to you. Listen carefully and you will hear its call.
First, let’s talk about the suits. Like any card deck, there are four suits: Cups, Wands, Swords and Pentacles. The four suits represent the four elements too.
Cups is Water, Wands are Air, Swords are Fire and Pentacles are Earth.
Chant: Water flowing, Nature Growing, I flow as one with Mother Earth
Emotions rule Cups. Cups are also opportunities and Love, as well as family and children. Harmony, bliss and safety are additional gifts bestowed by Cups. Cups are the Chalice and either hold the emotion (love, joy, happiness as well as the baddies of envy etc) or release it, depending on the number on the card, and what surrounds it.
Chant: Courage come surround me, that I may stand my ground.
Think of fire jugglers, Zulu warriors – from the tame to the flame, Wands are around us in everything we do. From the simple Pencil to the powerful Wand itself. Wands get their energy from Wood, which is gracefully lent from our majestical trees. Energy and power are therefore in all symbols of Wands.
Wands also represent the Skeleton, and therefore ability to move and fight. They are passion, energy, and speed. The Wand can also tremendous creativity (think Paint Brush… see where I am going with this? )
Wands can show victory over strife, awards and achievement as well as being overburdened and overworked times.
Chant: Ring of wealth in health, ring of health in wealth, ring of gold bestow your blessing please.
Yes. Pentacles are Money, Coin, Wealth. Fertility and abundance. Pentacles represent the Oracle, the circle, the start, and finish as one. They are the easiest of the suits to interpret.
Chant; Protection comes to be, protection goes from me under grace and in a perfect way.
The Intellect, Wisdom, the Mind. These are all represented by Swords. Though sometimes cruel, and sometimes wonderful, Swords are the most powerful Suit. Always pay special attention to what cards surround Sword cards.
Swords also represent the intellect.

The Magical Tarot Deck comprises of:
Magic (Cups)
Blessings (Pentacles)
Broomsticks (Wands) and
Strength (Swords)
The Court Cards are not always “male or female”. These cards may show a masculine energy or idea or feminine influence/ name. Always look to the surrounding cards to be guided.
Princes bring opportunities, thoughts, ideas, and energy to a situation, depending on the suit. Often the catalyst in a situation. Princesses
These ladies hold onto what they have – wary of losing what they have achieved. They often sacrifice their happiness in order to help others.
Queens
The Queens are the nurturers, advisors, and enablers.
In charge, stubborn and sometimes very set in their ways. Kings represent the management of situations, time and opportunity.
I must admit that I sometimes find court cards rather confusing at times. Sometimes, when I am busy with a Reading, I have to really concentrate on the supporting cards surrounding any court cards as I cannot make head nor tail of them. At other times, they and their meaning are so clear, it’s like looking into a reflection of clear, still, mirror-like water. I have concluded that these cards are not just a representation of “A Person” but also of a situation. For example, The King of Strength (Swords) is a very stubborn, immovable individual, but perhaps the person involved is not – therefore it is the situation itself that is immovable.
