This is about the future mage Jonathan Tanner Thomas who is caught up in the merging of the two realms – magic and science. The two, a long time ago, had been separated for being the same thing in different forms. They were never meant to be together and the rejoining of them nearly destroys the earth realm as well as all the others. The merge is made to occur so the demon king can take control of the realms. Jon Tom, who never wants to be a hero, is the only one who can stop it.

Jonathan Thomas stared off, into the heavily falling snow, over the calm waters Of Cayuga Lake. He was sitting at the end of the swimming dock at the tip of Myers Park in Myers New York. A small town that was a part of the Lansing School District. This was always his favorite place to go when he had a lot on his mind. Like tonight. For the, he had lost count, time he had been berated by a woman for nothing more than being nice to her. It had gotten so bad he had almost lost his temper. Something which had been occurring a lot lately. Sure he had always been easy to anger but not as much, or as quickly, as now. Now he

couldn't even understand where the anger was coming from. So the best solution, like so many times in the past, was to come late at night and sit at the end of the dock. Staring out over the lake he loved so much. In effect it was his idea of anger management. For here, after a couple of hours, he would always leave in calm and peace of mind. No matter how bad it was when he had gotten there. And, so far tonight, this was proving to be no exception at all.

As the blanket of tranquility settled over his soul Jon Tom began to hear the quiet sizzling of the snow flakes as they touched the warmer lake waters. Off in the distance he could hear the sounds of cars traveling over the busy road of Route 34b at the top of the hill. Closer he could feel, more than see, the air stirring affect a sail boat had, on the night, as it passed silently by the dock

on its way to the boat marina just on the other side of Myers Point. A beautiful twin master with a solid hull and sweet lines for which any native of the water could appreciate. A very good boat by the way it was being sailed with an almost nonexistent wind. A tribute to the captain who steered it as well. Right then Jon Tom wished he was aboard for he would have definitely been steering for the other end of the lake and the locks which would take him far away from here.

Slowly the boat disappeared from view and he realized it was time to go. His only problem, right then, was go where? Home? A 24 hour restaurant like Mano's in Ithaca? Or maybe just a drive and where ever he ended up so be it. Jon Tom was a firm believer in the road less taken. Some of his friends, especially his cousin, would joke about how the poem had been written about him. Which was okay with him. So tonight he decided to head out of Myers by the way of Syrian Hill.

Slowly he drifted off the swim dock to his car. The snow was falling pretty hard but he had no problem with that. He always loved the snow. There was nothing he could not do in the snow. If he ever got the chance he would love to see how well he could make love to a woman in the snow. So, as he got in the car, there came a nagging sensation be was being watched. Normally he would think nothing of it but this was the kind of sensation he would have when he was looking for ghosts. He knew there was something around, just at the edge if his senses, but no matter what he did he could never get close enough to see what was causing the feeling. In fact, a few years ago, he had gone to a friend of his who said she could see the aura's around people. Jon Tom had never made fun of her but, then again, never believed her either. Yet the problem now was the anger rising in him because he could not find any ghosts. Now he was going to have to talk with her again.
