They tagged it "the Great Commission", and in very religious regions of the world it has become a ticket to heaven or a display of righteousness that people go about with megaphones or bells to preach the "Gospel". To preach is not the Great Commission, and if it is, is that all that is contained in the "Great Commission"? And what really is the Gospel? The world is still what it is. What has happened to "the light of the world"? And what has gone wrong with the Great Commission? These are questions that Ayodele proferred answered to.
The Last Instruction is an exposition on Matthew 28:16-20 which contains some of Jesus Christ's farewell messages after His resurrection. You'd enjoy reading it in Ayodele's always simple language.

It is not unheard of for a leader or a father to call his followers or children together when he is about to depart from them and tell them what to do while he is gone. Jacob did that with his children in Genesis 49. He blessed them and told them what their lives will be like. Jesus also did the same in Matthew 28:16-20. He gathered His disciples at a location and instructed them on how to live their lives when He no longer stays with them physically. This gathering was so eventful, but people seldom understand the events that surround the Jesus’ last instruction to His disciples.
Things do not just happen, at least God does not just allow things to be recorded in His word just for the records – “All Scripture is given…for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” The events surrounding Jesus’ last instruction to His disciples send significant messages to us believers, but we seldom cross examine the bible to understand what they really mean.
This book seeks to uncover some of the mysteries embedded in the last five verses in the book Mathew. This book uncovers the importance of the location, the significance of the disciples’ worship, the potency of the authority of Jesus, the significance of discipleship and the greatest assurance that anybody can get from God.
Now, don’t just read this book, study it, meditate on the life in it, live it and pass it to someone as Jesus has instructed.
The eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. Matthew 28:16
How could someone, probably younger in age, give instruction to certain persons and they obey him to the later? This is because they are disciples. Disciples are trainees, students, or followers of someone who leads. Disciples are teachable people. And Jesus’ disciples were disciples in its true sense. They obeyed Him even when it seems inconvenient. They obeyed His instruction at a time when Jesus was just condemned and crucified few days back. They knew that they could be in trouble should the Jewish leaders find out that some people were meeting with the resurrected Jesus, yet they still met with Him at the appointed location.
There must be something about location – Jesus had specific reasons why He instructed His disciples to go to Galilee. True, God is Omnipresent and He can do what He wants to do anywhere He chooses. And yes, He chose Galilee to meet with His people – those who follow Him indeed. He orchestrates the affairs of the earth and He knew where He had chosen to do certain things.
Jesus instructed His disciples to meet Him in certain places (such as Galilee) so that they could get the next instruction. People who walk do so naturally and that is why almost everybody walks. Those that run do that on principles and that is why some who live by principles run. But those that fly do that on the strength of instruction and that is why only very few fly. The disciples did not cast restraints because they accepted instruction and the lived by it.
When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful. Proverbs 29:18
