Beschreibung

This the first book of the Darkness trilogy. The concept is pretty simple. It is based on the idea of the conspiracy theorist. Gabrielle is a retired special agent who is now working a simple job at a car wash. Mainly for the idea he grew up on a lake and loves playing in water all day. The conspiracy begins with two groups trying to kill him as well as bring total, and absolute, control of the world led by them. Gabrielle just wants a peaceful life with his wife. To safely grow old with her. Some things just have a way of never happening. In book one he sees the doorway opened by the group calling themselves the Darkness. He then teams up with an old enemy who is more hones, reliable, than a lot of his old teammates. Book one sets up the start of the fighting force to battle the monsters from the doorway. Even though this enemy is known Gabrielle knows he has to find the real enemy who is hidden and unknown. In reality the Darkness is a different form of the Illuminari. A centuries old cult who want to rule the world while remaining unseen. Thank you for reading my book and I hope you enjoyed it very much.

Part One - The Darkness

 By Joseph P Hradisky Jr

Sometimes the smallest ripple can turn into a tsunami.

I once had a dream of a rainbow floating across a clear sky

It was a dream to escape the reality of a future dressed in darkness

From the abyss came a force of unknown powers

Yet I was transcended by a distant rainbow floating across the sky

For, in the end, the darkness fell to the unbridled capacity of love

This book is dedicated to my best friend, lover, and the woman of my dreams.

Gabrielle Genson stood at five feet, seven inches, with short dark brown hair. Wrap around shades covered his ice green eyes. He wore a simple gray shirt with black shorts. White socks covered with cheap white sneakers. Sheen, of sweat, covered his forehead from the heat of the day. Even though the sun had vanished the night didn’t bring any relief from the heat. Gabrielle was almost to his car when he stopped to look around. His attention turned to the cloud covered sky. His thought was there might be a storm on the way. For a couple of seconds he smelled the air. This reinforced the idea a storm was brewing.

As he stood there, looking around, he looked normal in appearance with a body which looked slightly overweight as well as a bit out of shape. All of which were extremely deceptive. He had just closed up work when the first blast ripped the night apart. Flames shot high into the night sky as all the parking lights, street lights, went dark. The ground shook like nothing he had ever felt before. If it hadn‘t been for the noise, the light show, it could have been an earthquake.

Then the screams started as a second explosion followed the first one. This one he could see taking down the Pine Tree Road side of P N C Fresh. For a moment he lay there as he watched several feet, of P & C Fresh, crumble to the ground as gouts of flame spread through it. Quickly he got up, took his cell out, and dialed 911. He briefly told them what was happening, the severity of what he knew, and as well that he had to go. No sooner had he hung up he then called his wife, Terri.

“Are you on your way home? I’m here all alone waiting for your sweet warm body to get naked with.” Terri Genson, Gabrielle’s wife of 25 years, sounded happy yet Gabrielle knew it wouldn’t last for long.

“No...” He was about to say more when another explosion ripped the night apart.

“What the hell was that?” Terri sounded a little worried just from the sound of the explosion.

“No idea yet, was calling to let you know I am going to find out what is going on...”

“You can’t.”

“Sweetheart there are people dying here, I just can’t leave knowing I can help someone.”

“But you haven’t been in the military for several years now, what can you do?”

“I won’t know that until I find out what is happening.” Gabrielle paused for a moment. Despite the fact he had been out for a while he knew his training had not. In fact he kept himself in good shape despite age not wanting to show it. “I know this is going to worry you but I will be fine.”

“Just make sure you get your sweet ass home to me is all I’m asking.” Gabrielle could hear the pout in her voice.

“You can count on that. Love you.” Gabrielle told her.

“Love you, be careful.” Terri said sounding worried.

One of the many reasons why Gabrielle loved her was she understood when he had to do something, like now. Gabrielle looked around to see if there was any immediate danger. He could find none. As far as he could tell this area was clear, but for how long though, was the next question. After taking one last look he moved east in the direction of the Best Western University Inn.

An access road took him past a large parking lot for the Cornell offices on his right. This long building housed the Cornell University Recruitment and Employment Center. Two thirds, of the way down the road, was a small area of bushes. This was the leading edge of the northern T of the Best Western University Inn. At this point the road bent, to the right, around the offices, heading south to a stop sign. A left took you to the Best Western University Inn, while going right took you in the direction of the main Cornell parking lot. This was a very large parking area which flowed west the length of the plaza, passing again the Recruitment offices, Sedgwick Interiors, East Hill Antiques, Ling Ling Garden Restaurant, Collegetown Bagels, Subway, The Gym, Judd Falls Laundromat, Judd Falls Wines and Liquor, and P & C Fresh, to reconnect with Pine Tree road.

The main reason he went this way was there was less noise in that direction. A nagging thought saying it was too quiet. Carefully, when he reached the end of the plaza, he looked around the corner. Bingo, he thought, there was a person standing there, masked, with what looked like an Ingram Mac-11 gun. A small, versatile, weapon great for close range fighting with lots of fire power.

His first thought was this person was a terrorist. Leaving him to wonder if they were foreign or domestic born. A question which had little meaning until Gabrielle had more information. Information like what was so important here for such a grand attack? Looking around he didn’t see any backup for this person. Apparently whoever they, were, didn’t think any threat would come from the north side of the Cornell offices. This was a very big mistake for any unit.

This was reinforced by another series of explosions, except these sounded farther away as well in several different directions. Gabrielle could envision these explosions catching local response forces heading to East Hill Plaza. Then a thought, which had been a lost particle aimlessly wandering in his mind, formed into a plan. When the next explosion on the plaza occurred Gabrielle made his move.

By the time the masked person, had a clue, they were dead as Gabrielle snapped their neck. He lowered the body slowly, quietly, to the ground. A quick search netted about 20 clips, half dozen grenades, as well as a radio with an ear bud. It was the reason why he couldn’t hear what the attackers were saying. A quick check showed the soldier was using a throat mic.

Another thing he found was body armor, very weird body armor. This not only protected the chest area but also all the way down to cover the thighs like cut off long johns. In addition the armor expanded over the shoulders all the way down to the wrists. Somewhat like a wet, dry, suit but less bendable.

Gabrielle had once heard about this new armor but had never seen it before. Quickly he stripped it off the body, discovering two things - first the masked person was female, second she had an explosive under vest with a pull cord to trigger the detonation. This too was slightly weird. Instead of being bulky he saw it was formed c-4 to a thickness of an ordinary bullet resistant vest. With how quickly he had killed her she didn’t have any chance to reach the pull cord. If he had not there was enough bang, in the vest, to put a very large hole in the ground as well as take out anything thirty feet out.

As Gabrielle got dressed he could see this vest could come in quite handy at some point. Heaving this over one shoulder he looked around the southeastern corner discovering how lucky he had been in his timing. Just around the corner were a half dozen more terrorists. All dressed the same as the one he had just killed. As he was looking he came in eye to eye contact with the armed enemy closest to him. This soldier quickly brought his mac up to fire at Gabrielle. He never had a chance as Gabrielle reacted faster. A short burst took the terrorist out.

Not one, of the other five, had any chance to return fire either. One short burst, after another, took them out quickly. Looking around, carefully, he saw no one close so he moved in on the dead. His next bit of luck came when he found one to be carrying an ammo belt. This he strapped around his waist before filling it with every clip he could. Gabrielle also grabbed two more Mac pistols. It would weigh him down a bit but the more fire power he could get the better, and more effective, he would be.

His attention was brought sharply back to the plaza parking area as he heard screams cut short following single shots of a small caliber gun being fired. He was about to head west down the building, along the Cornell offices, when a large group, of civilians, ran past him. The last, in line, dropped as two rounds hit the back of the right leg. This sent him hard to the ground as two others turned to help him. The two had to find shelter as a constant barrage, of semi auto rounds, sought them out. These two, for the moment, were lucky. Not so for the one hit as he tried to get to cover himself. The result only made him a better target than the other two.
