this book represents an invitation to engage in unconventional thoughts with an open mind, to wrestle with perhaps previously unfamiliar concepts. Clinging to old concepts is likely to block the development of much-needed new perspectives.
This book is also intended to stimulate your own observations. Where this is not possible directly, the experiences described can nevertheless be grasped and penetrated with one’s own thinking and checked for their plausibility while paying attention to one’s own sense of truth.
The best way to understand what is meant here is to read the first part of the book from beginning to end. The chapters of the second and third part can be read in any order.

The corona crisis has confronted us in a unique way with a clinical picture, and with a general social situation on an unprecedented scale. The astonishing thing is that in this global pandemic there is an obvious discrepancy between the number of infections or deaths we can actually follow and the public narrative. Technically completely novel “vaccines” for the corona virus have been developed and four were approved within a very short time: Moderna, BioNTech/Pfizer, Johnson&Johnson and AstraZeneca.
What these vaccines have in common is that they are not “classic” vaccines, but gene transfer technologies such as those used in gene therapy studies. In an unprecedented way, all safety criteria, test criteria and study criteria, which are normally strict in vaccine research, have been severely diluted. These novel gene transfer technologies were approved almost worldwide in a fast-tracked and emergency approval procedure, although very effective treatment methods for covid19 are available; however, these have been suppressed by the authorities.
Given these circumstances, we have to grapple intensively with these “vaccines”, which are being administered for the first time in this form to billions of people. As an active theoretical and clinical molecular biologist, I would like to draw your attention to the essential principles of action, their complexity and potential dangers, especially since there are insufficient toxicological, genotoxic, mutagenotoxicological or long-term toxicological data on these vaccines.
1. This form of vaccine technology employs gene transfer technology. For the mRNA vaccines a sophisticated system of nanolipid structures was developed. These serve to protect the mRNA from the body’s own enzymes that want to render this RNA harmless, as well as the distribution throughout the body and insertion of the RNA into the target cells. The application of lipid nanoparticles as vaccines in humans is new and has not yet been adequately tested in broad-based, publicly accessible clinical studies.
2. The biodistribution of the lipid nanoparticles loaded with mRNA was investigated in a Pfizer approval study. This was requested by the Japanese government prior to approval. The study shows clearly that the lipid nanoparticles are distributed throughout the entire organism, i.e., in all organs and structures, including the central nervous system. They can also accumulate in various organs, especially in the female ovaries, in the spleen, liver and bone marrow.
3. The synthetically produced mRNA (BioNTech/Pfizer, Moderna) is an extremely sophisticated construct in which non-naturally occurring nucleotides and nucleotide sequences are used. These facilitate an enormous stabilization of the mRNA as well as an effective reading of the same (known as “translation”). This makes it possible to produce large numbers of spike proteins in the cells and to discharge them in large numbers into the blood and lymphatic system in order to flood the body with spike proteins.
4. It is known from several studies that these spike proteins can trigger toxic effects on the vascular endothelia (these are the cells of the innermost wall layer of lymph and blood vessels) and are responsible for – potentially dangerous to fatal – blood clotting disorders and inflammatory reactions in organs. In addition, the synthesis of the spike proteins is not subject to the cell’s own protein regulatory mechanisms, which can lead to incorrect protein folding and thus to the formation of prions.
5. Due to the increased stability of the synthetic mRNA, ensured by sophisticated design parameters, it is possible to use the cell’s own enzyme chains (reverse transcriptase). These can translate the information contained in the synthetic mRNA back into the body’s own DNA and then integrate this DNA into the cell’s own genome. This mechanism is known from HIV studies as well as from studies on the cell’s own DNA repair. For this purpose, single-strand RNA or mRNA is used to repair DNA damage. This means that the information from the synthetic mRNA can in principle be incorporated into the cell’s own genome. Due to the accumulation of the lipid nanoparticles loaded with mRNA, for example in the bone marrow or the ovaries, the mRNA information can also be integrated into the genome of blood-forming stem cells. This can trigger leukemia. It can also be integrated into the germ line, which is passed on to the next generation.
We are therefore dealing with a gene therapy technology that not only has the potential to manipulate the intrinsic immune response in a targeted manner, but also to permanently anchor the information of the synthetic mRNA in the genome. This harbors enormous risks and dangers, as gene therapy studies on humans can testify. It has been shown that manipulation of the highly dynamic human genome has led to serious secondary disorders, which unfortunately only became apparent after several years in the appearance of malignant tumors.
In the absence of long-term geno- and onco-toxicological studies, it is extremely irresponsible to administer these vaccines on the basis of the currently available data – especially to adolescents, children and pregnant women.
In addition, recent data from Israel, Great Britain, Iceland and India show that these are so-called “leaky vaccines”. This means that vaccinated people will get less severely ill, yet can still become infected and transmit the virus. As a result, more dangerous and potentially even more deadly viral mutations may become dominant, similar to Marek’s disease in poultry. In addition, ADE (Antigen Dependent Enhancement) cannot be ruled out with these vaccines, which can lead to a significant worsening of symptoms on re-infection.
An intensive study of these “vaccines” is urgently needed.
This is done in an extended way in this book. I am pleased to be able to grapple with the spiritual dimensions of vaccines as a molecular biologist. I would like to add that I myself feel very connected to anthroposophic medicine and the anthroposophic understanding of the human being or, respectively, integrative medicine. I hope that this book, which has a workshop character, will be widely distributed.
This book deals with the question of how covid vaccinations can affect the supersensible members of the human beings and life after death.
These questions are examined on the basis of empirical supersensible perceptions.
In order to obtain the broadest possible basis for this, I contacted more than 50 people with supersensible perceptions and collected reports.
These are very subtle perceptions that can be easily overlooked. They are often hardly noticeable in everyday life. But the phenomena described were found again and again in concentrated supersensible research.
The expression “subtle” does not say anything about the content of the perceptions, but refers to the subtle nature of the perception process. In this enhancement of the capacity of perception one can then encounter “beautiful” or “ugly” beings and spiritual events that will be described in appropriate terms.
Finding words for supernatural perceptions is not easy, as the words actually necessary for this do not exist. That is why it is often necessary to make use of analogies to the physical world. When, for example, “holes in the aura” are spoken of, no sensually visible holes are being referred to, but regions of the soul that are not penetrated by the ‘I’ and into which alien feelings and beings can therefore enter and establish themselves. The reverse can also take place through the “hole”, in that soul-spiritual and etheric power is lost.
The information contained in this book differs from that in other publications on the subject. I write about the spiritual domains in which I specialize. I cite other research only selectively in order to shed light on the results.
I try to make my descriptions as vivid as possible using excerpts from the research protocols as well as numerous reports of actual experiences. I also looked for statements by other authors that had already been published. Important questions are discussed and the background is explored as thoroughly as possible.
It turns out that the four most significant covid vaccines in Western countries taken together represent a strong attack on the physical as well as the energy body. As a result, the human soul and spirit can be prevented from gaining access to these bodies. The angel and the body elemental can also be pushed away. This can lead to the person remaining bound to the earth after death and a very prolonged suffering for the deceased.
Of course, the effect varies from person to person. There are people out there who are able to transform these vaccine side effects to a large extent and get rid of them.
I am describing this conclusion of the book right at the beginning so that I can make it clear from the outset that unanswered questions remain:
–How many people experience such effects? That also seems to depend on the mental and spiritual capacities a person can bring to the vaccination.
–To what extent are the psychological and spiritual effects of vaccinations processed naturally over time?
–How severe are the consequences for future incarnations?
–By which therapeutic measures can such processing be supported?
It is important to me to emphasize that this is not about ideology, but about empirical perception and the search for truth. Science and spiritual research are always an open process of the search for truth. Personal preferences should not come into it. It should not be governed by personal preferences.
For reasons of confidentiality, all names in the client descriptions have been changed. That is normal. However, it is not normal for all authors to be named using pseudonyms. I know them personally, but they do not want to be the target of a defamation campaign. Many have regular professions and do not want to lose their jobs. Unfortunately, such fears are well founded today; we are familiar with many cases of sanctions and dismissals due to nonconformist views. Standards of democratic culture, information/disclosure and freedom of expression that were previously believed to be safe can no longer be relied upon. Large sections of politics and the media are campaigning against dissenting views in the style of a religious war. The mood in society has been severely poisoned by the advocates of lockdowns and vaccinations. Anthroposophy and naturopathy are preferred targets. Unfortunately, some professional associations and employers cave in to this pressure instead of standing up for a free cultural life. The smear campaigns also hit many respected scientists who dare to publish “inappropriate” research results.
This totalitarian social change is devastating for a free democracy. It was also demonstrated in a survey by the Allensbach Institute for Demoscopy:1 “In June 2021, just 45 percent said you could speak your mind freely. (...) From the 1960s to the last decade, more than two thirds of those questioned regularly took this view, but the answers have changed dramatically since then”, wrote Allensbach. Actually, with such an erosion of democracy there should be an outcry in politics, media, parties and associations – but this is not happening; the channeling of the social discourse is obviously intended.
I had to accept this bitter reality. Only an anonymization of the authors creates the necessary protection to enable publication. Which forces are at work here spiritually behind the scenes will become clearer in the course of this book.
One of the difficulties in writing this book was striking the right note. The subject is emotionally poisoned and permeated by fear. Our findings are surprising to many. The point is not to arouse negative emotions, but to present research results in a matter-of-fact and comprehensible manner and to indicate ways out of the impasse. However, ways out can only be found through understanding, therefore there is no getting around the need to look at the vaccines and their effects in detail, even if the descriptions are unpleasant.
We are not dealing here with a “harmless prick”, but rather with a powerful impulse to change the human body, so that it is hindered in its function as the vehicle for the soul-spiritual human being. This can also have a blocking effect on life after death. This means that the fundamental question concerning the future of humanity is at stake: Do we want to become a kind of “machine-man” or do we want to remain beings of soul and spirit?
So, it is clear to me that this book will present a challenge to some readers and that there is a risk that they will fall into a mood of doom and gloom. I therefore endeavored to penetrate every written line with an attitude of sober, loving serenity.
The situation is by no means hopeless. Time and again I have experienced that high spiritual beings looked upon the corona crisis and the vaccinations with calm and confidence. It is a test from which much good can come in the long run, even if it seems overwhelming for most people today. It is possible to grow spiritually through the covid vaccinations if you take on this challenge actively. This applies equally to the unvaccinated and to the vaccinated.
My booklet Overcoming Fear - Exercises for Spiritual Self-Defense serves as an aid to inner balance. In it, many aspects of the individual handling of the corona crisis are described and a spiritual-scientific classification is given. I recommend it as a supplement to this book.
Let us first look at the physical plane before we come to the supersensible planes. How does the covid19 disease manifest? And what are the medical side effects of the covid vaccinations?
The German Federal Ministry of Health addressed this question on an information poster of summer 2020:
“The infection is mild in most cases and is not life-threatening for most people. The virus can cause flu-like symptoms such as coughing, fatigue and fever. In severe cases, respiratory problems or pneumonia can also occur. Most sick people will benefit from rest, drinking plenty of fluids and, if necessary, antipyretic medication.”2
These sober statements stand in striking contrast to the emotional charge of the topic. Talking and writing about it is not easy. For many people, it is currently an important criterion whether the covid19 disease is taken seriously enough for them to engage in reading a text or a conversation. Even the slightest suspicion of failure to take it seriously acts like a trigger, and they turn away.
In fact, covid19 may indeed take a very severe course. The disease is also problematic from a supersensible point of view. This is described in more detail later in the book.
But let’s stay on the external level for now and look at the basic statistical data.
There are well-established data on mortality from covid19 worldwide. On average, 0.15% of all infected people die, that is, about 150 in 100,000 people die.3 This corresponds to the mortality rate for actual flu (influenza), which is between 0.1 and 0.2%. Conversely, this means that 99.85% of the sick survive the disease and are then immune.
The risk of death for the population below 65 years of age, even in infection hotspots, is no higher than the risk of death from a daily drive to work.4
Vulnerable groups are older people or people with co-morbidities. Here we find a statistically significant increase in more severe disease progression and deaths.
However, the corona virus is no more dangerous for these people than other potential diseases. The average age of death with covid19 worldwide is over 80 years and thus corresponds to normal life expectancy.
Almost half the people were protected from covid19 through “cross immunity” from the start, due to previous infections with one of the corona viruses associated with the common cold or other viruses. Ten studies from around the world examined cross-immunity in the population, which arrived at an average of 46%, even at the beginning of the pandemic.5
Given this disease profile, the question arises, why should one be vaccinated at all? For most people, there is little to be said in favor of it on the basis of a risk assessment. Therefore, under normal circumstances, the choice to be vaccinated would probably only be comparable to that of previous flu vaccinations.
Nevertheless, in order to promote mass vaccination, governments around the world have been building up strong vaccination pressure since spring 2020. This was only possible by systematically disregarding the alternatives to vaccination, such as strengthening the immune system, prophylaxis for risk groups and early treatment of the disease. Even in the poster of the Ministry of Health quoted above we find nothing about a targeted early medical treatment option.
In actual fact, natural, homeopathic and anthroposophic medicines are very well able to support a favorable disease outcome, as described by Dr. med. Frank Meyer and Dr. med. Johannes Wilkens in their book Treating Covid Naturally.
Conventional medical drugs that have been known for decades also show great effectiveness. An American group of scientists has conducted a very clear evaluation of the studies on drugs for covid19 treatment. Https://c19early.com shows over 1000 studies on 30 drugs at the time of writing. These studies show remarkable improvements in disease progression, for example: proxalutamide by 86%, povidone-iodine by 71%, ivermectin by 68%, zinc by 54%, vitamin D by 42%, aspirin by 37%, hydroxychloroquine by 27% and Vitamin C by 17%. According to the studies, a lot could be achieved with vitamins and zinc alone, also in prophylaxis. So, there are a surprising number of effective and very inexpensive medicines for covid19.
These were, however, not promoted or approved by governments -since April 2020 they have only been pushing and financing the covid vaccines. The population was given the impression that there were no treatments and that in this hopeless situation the only solution was vaccination.
The lockdowns, the restrictions on fundamental rights and the mask mandates were other important means to keep the pandemic in focus and to generate vaccination pressure: In order to end the torment of the lockdowns, people should get vaccinated.
In order to underpin the justification for the measures, a key role was assigned to the PCR tests. A “positive test” was labelled an “infection”, although it is at best a “contamination”, but not a disease. It has been proven repeatedly that the PCR test is far too sensitive to detect a disease.6 Viruses are everywhere, for example residues of the Epstein-Barr virus are found in 95% of all people, but very few develop glandular fever.7 Even months after surviving a covid19 infection, an immune and healthy person can still test positive. The rate of the technical margin of error of the tests has never been precisely determined and taken into account, while every other measurement device must by law be calibrated. The mass tests do not provide any meaningful figures, but it was possible to instrumentalize them in the media as a reason for lockdowns. And through the ever-increasing test mandates, politicians were able to influence the figures; if more tests are done, more “cases” are found. On the other hand, systematic data collection was obviously not politically desirable. This is borne out by the fact that this data collection was already demanded by scientists in spring 2020, but was rejected by politicians.8 In order to accurately assess the course of the infection, a stable representative group of tens of thousands of people would have to be continuously monitored for infections and immune reactions (antibodies and T cells).
At the same time as the lockdowns, there was a relentless vaccination drumbeat in the media, as well as a carrot and stick policy. In an advisory capacity, sociologists from Berlin’s Humboldt University researched methods for inducing hesitants to take the covid vaccination: through low-threshold enticements such as small gifts of money as well as through severe repressive measures against the unwilling and the withdrawal of fundamental rights.9 The categorization of fundamental rights into a first and a second class (vaccine apartheid) clearly violates the constitution, but our governments did not take any notice of this, and enforced it politically. As a result, many people got vaccinated because they wanted to “travel” again, “go to a concert” or “did not want to lose their job”.
A fundamental problem is that vaccinations don’t really protect against a constantly mutating virus.
It has been suggested that the virus could be eradicated through universal vaccination, although this lacks any scientific basis. New vaccinations against the flu virus are given every year, with debatable benefits.
Data from the United States, Great Britain and Singapore show that vaccinated people infected with the Delta variant of the corona virus can carry as much viral load in their nostrils as unvaccinated people. They are therefore just as “contagious” as unvaccinated people.10
A study in Massachusetts in July 2021 showed that unvaccinated people were less likely to contract covid19 than those who were vaccinated.11
In August 2021, in vaccine champion-state Israel the number of infections were rising again to such an extent that there was talk of a “fourth wave”; there was no difference in infections between vaccinated and unvaccinated people.12
Iceland also had one of the highest vaccination rates with 78%.13 Nevertheless, there was a wave of infections in the summer of 2021. The Icelandic chief epidemiologist said in a radio interview that it was disappointing that vaccination had failed to achieve herd immunity. He went on to say that there was only one other way to achieve herd immunity and that was to allow the virus to spread throughout the entire community.14
The gene-based vaccines from BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson&Johnson used in Western countries received emergency use authorization with a compressed and curtailed testing procedure. These gene-based vaccines use new, little-tested methods. Typically, it can take 15 to 20 years for a vaccine to be approved and brought to market.15
The mRNA vaccines represent a new technology, for which there is hardly any practical experience, and which has not been approved as a drug or vaccine.
Naturally, there have been no studies on long-term and delayed effects. These long-term investigations are now being “made up” for on billions of people all over the world in a global human experiment, a fact which is obvious if you think about it.
There are many ongoing debates about the dangers of vaccines. These vaccines are based on inducing the body’s own cells to produce spike proteins. However, these spike proteins are problematic. “We made a big mistake and haven’t realized it until now,” said Canadian vaccine researcher Byram Bridle16, “we didn’t know that the spike protein itself is a toxin and represents a pathogenic protein.” Bridle was vilified for it, but received prominent support from Robert Malone17, the inventor of the mRNA technology.18 Robert Malone certainly knows what he is talking about.
The list of possible side effects is long, often involving blood disorders (thrombosis, heart attacks, etc.), disorders of the nervous system and autoimmune disorders. It is also possible that the immune system is disturbed, so that the disease against which the vaccine is directed manifests even more severely later on, known as Antibody-Dependent Enhancement (ADE).
A group of researchers at Harvard University in Cambridge (USA) wrote an extensive article in June 2021, in which they addressed the potential and already observed side effects of mRNA vaccines: “Worse than the disease? Review of some of the possible unintended consequences of mRNA vaccines against covid19”.19 This reference is intended to demonstrate that the numerous medical problems are already widely known.
It is worth noting the European problem that these vaccines fall under the EU directives on the release of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). According to the terminology used hitherto it is therefore a question of genetic engineering. For this reason, the EU Parliament passed its own exception regulation on July 10, 2020.20
An important question therefore arises: Why did the Western governments approve only these four experimental vaccines and not the vaccines based on traditional technology, which have also been developed and are used in some regions of the world?
There are state registers for vaccine adverse reactions in every country. One problem is data collection. Obviously, a lot of vaccine injuries are not reported. Prof. Harald Walach found very large differences in the rates of reporting of vaccine damage among EU countries:21 While in Holland 701 adverse events were reported per 100,000 vaccinations, there were only 38 in Germany. The EU average is 127 cases per 100,000 vaccinations. Prof. Walach comments: “Is vaccination chauvinistic? We don’t think so. It is unlikely that people from different EU countries would react differently to the same vaccines. Rather, the reporting discipline and procedures are likely to differ.” This is merely by way of context, before we take a closer look at some of the figures from the registers.
VAERS is the US government funded system for reporting adverse vaccine reactions.22 VAERS has been collecting data on all vaccinations since 1990, 90 percent of them from the USA. As of August 6, 2021, VAERS had received 571,830 reports on side effects of covid vaccinations, including 70,666 visits to the emergency room (Urgent Care), 51,242 hospitalizations and 12,791 deaths. These are shocking figures.23
As VAERS has been collecting data since 1990, it is possible to make a comparison with other vaccinations. The graph overleaf shows the reported deaths for all types of vaccination.24 The red line following the horizontal axis, starting on the left in 1990, runs steadily along the bottom, and then shoots up rapidly in 2021 due to the deaths following covid vaccination.
In the USA vaccination against many diseases has been widely used for decades, the reported suspected cases of vaccination deaths remaining at a tolerable rate. Then the covid vaccinations begin and there are over 12,000 suspected cases of death within a few months. I rub my eyes in despair, where is the public outcry?
The reality seems to be even worse. The American medical organization “Americas Frontline Doctors (AFLDS)” published the affidavit of a whistleblower and computer programmer in a lawsuit against the covid vaccinations on July 19, 2021.25 This person has expertise in healthcare data analysis and in the past has developed more than 100 different algorithms able to detect healthcare fraud. She is certain that the number of deaths after vaccinations is significantly higher. She compared VAERS data with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) data on vaccines and deaths and stated: “The deaths that occur with CMS within three days of vaccination are higher by at least a factor of five than the data reported in VAERS. This suggests that the true number of vaccine-related deaths is at least 45,000.” She also referred to the 2009 swine flu, when the vaccine was withdrawn from the market after 53 deaths.26
The World Health Organization (WHO) operates the VigiAccess database in order to record adverse drug reactions worldwide. Reports from more than 100 countries are recorded, but the extent of reporting of individual countries is not known. As of August 18, 2021, 1,759,556 covid19 vaccine side effects and 11,263 deaths have been reported.27
EudraVigilance is a similar database of the European Union. It reported 13,055 deaths following covid19 vaccination as of August 15, 2021.28
We see the same picture in Germany: the national Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI) reported 1,254 deaths after vaccination and 131,671 suspected cases of vaccine side effects as of July 31, 2021. 14,027 of these were serious and required hospitalization or were classified as medically “significant”.29
So much for the official figures. The number of unreported cases is likely to be many times greater.
There are constantly new studies on the medical side effects of vaccinations. To make the topic even more concrete, here are two examples:
– Myocarditis in adolescents: The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is an agency of the US Department of Health. The CDC notes that the risk of developing myocarditis after the second dose could be 200 times the average in people under the age of 25. “Members of a CDC advisory committee confirmed a total of 1,200 cases of myocarditis in 16- to 24-year-olds and said that mRNA-COVID vaccines should carry a warning label.”30
– Miscarriages: “A new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that the Covid vaccines caused spontaneous abortions in 104 out of 127 pregnant women during the first trimester. A total of 827 pregnant women took part in the study, but 700 of them did not receive the experimental vaccination until the third trimester of pregnancy. This means that the vaccine disrupted critical stages of early prenatal development and killed four out of five babies during pregnancy.”31
In view of the figures listed above, this becomes an urgent question.
When a virus kills, it kills as a virus. But humans kill as humans – and they must never do that: If we know an injection to be potentially fatal, we must not use it. Actually, this is rooted in our Western Christian image of the human being and our set of values.
Let us remember: We are not dealing here with risky operations or the medication of seriously ill people, but with vaccinating healthy people.
But there is no public outcry and no immediate ban of these injections by the authorities.
Why is the number of daily vaccine deaths not announced in the hourly news bulletins in the same way as it was usual for those who died from – or with – covid19?
All this follows the pattern of similar processes in which economic interests prevail at the expense of human beings and nature. For example: In July 2021, four American pharmaceutical companies approved the “opiate settlement” in court. A payment of $ 26 billion is expected to settle around 4,000 lawsuits. The pharmaceutical companies were accused of downplaying the risks associated with strong painkillers out of greed for profit and of aggressively marketing the drugs in full awareness of their addictive potential. Opioid-induced addictions have claimed more than half a million lives in the United States. A nexus of pharmaceutical companies and government agencies was responsible. Johnson&Johnson, a manufacturer of covid vaccines, was also involved.32
So much for the consideration on the physical level; let us now turn to the supersensible levels.
There have been supersensible experiences since the beginning of mankind. The experience of the world as only sensual-physical is an exception. Cultural history is full of testimonies to the experiences of forces and beings. The connection to the spiritual realm has to be won anew time and again.
How can the spiritual world be grasped with modern powers of consciousness and thinking? That was a question of the philosophers and writers of German idealism: Johann Gottlieb Fichte, Friedrich Schlegel, Novalis, Friedrich Schiller and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
In continuation of this cultural trend, the Goethe researcher Rudolf Steiner (1861–1925) became a pioneer of modern supersensible research. His 354 books of writings and lectures hold infinite treasures. He endeavored to create a broad foundation for the science of the spiritual worlds on which to build.
The term “anthroposophy” was coined by Rudolf Steiner with a meaning analogous to that of “natural science” or “social science”. It is about the fully conscious perception and exploration of the supersensible worlds in all their ramifications and beings. Natural science is subdivided into physics, chemistry, geology, biology, etc. – Anthroposophy is divided into studies of the etheric world, studies of the angelic world, the study of elementary beings, study of the dead, karma research, etc. Just as natural science is based on epistemology/theory of knowledge and scientific methodology, in anthroposophy the meditative path of spiritual training and the methodology of supersensible perception is elaborated in a variety of ways.
A special feature of Rudolf Steiner’s work is his ability to describe the spiritual world with a comprehensive breadth and precision rarely found elsewhere. Accordingly, he coined many new, exact spiritual-scientific terms. He described the processes and beings of the spiritual world in thought/conceptual form, so that anyone can understand it, even if they cannot yet experience it themselves.
In this way it was Rudolf Steiner’s impulse to build a bridge between the exploration of the earthly world and the spiritual world, so that these levels can mutually fertilize one another. He strove to develop a form of supersensible research that would meet scientific requirements, and for this he used the soul forces of clarity of thought and sensory alertness. By so doing, he brought spiritual experience down into earthly consciousness and clothed it in the form of thoughts and words.
Natural Science dismisses human feelings and sensations as “subjective” and unsuitable for “objective” knowledge/cognition. In so doing, it excludes an essential part of the human being and of the world. Anthro-posophy as spiritual science outlines a path for the human being to be able to re-direct his own “ego”-centered feelings into “world” – directed feelings and thereby become capable of perceiving the soul and spirit world.
The essential methods of perception in supersensible research – imagination, inspiration and intuition – were presented in detail by Rudolf Steiner, for example in the book The Stages of Higher Knowledge.33
Fully conscious spiritual perception takes place specifically in four stages, which I would like to briefly characterize:
–Increase in concentration, expansion of consciousness, a step-by-step encounter with the impure, earth-bound parts of one’s soul and, in both confronting and accepting the “lower self”, establishing the connection with the “higher self”.
–Imaginative knowledge: I receive or create images, ideas, thoughts or gestures that are independent of the sense world and pay attention to whether these are filled with forces or beings and take on a life of their own. An imagination is always imbued with inspiration and intuition. In this way the meaning of the imagination is revealed at the same time.
–Inspirational knowledge: I remove the created ideas through deliberate effort and maintain consciousness only in the inner feelings, impulses and activities that were necessary for them. With this inward jolt, a “conversation” with the beings can begin. It is a personal conversation, an I-you relationship.
–Intuitive knowledge: I also extinguish this inner activity, but retain wakeful consciousness and enter the other spiritual being concerned and experience its life, organization and connection with the spirit world. During this moment I “no longer” exist, only the contacted being that I am now exists. In intuitive knowledge the being I am encountering is now experienced as myself.
To those hearing about these four levels for the first time it may appear strange and unattainable. That feeling passes when one gets used to it. According to my perception, all those who perceive supersensibly in wakeful consciousness work with these four stages.
This takes decades of practice, meditation, working with one’s own inner shadows and studying anthroposophy and other sciences of the soul and spiritual worlds. It is important that the research be based on a broad background of experience.
Another very important component is teamwork, joint investigations, exchanges and discussions in order to validate methods and results.
Some basic spiritual-scientific terms/concepts
The reports in this book contain terms that I need to explain in order to make it comprehensible. These terms may not be common in general usage, but they are basic terms of differentiated spiritual-scientific research. These brief explanations can of course not do justice to their richness and complexity, but provide an overview.
Levels of the spiritual world: For the purpose of orientation, it is useful to distinguish between the following three levels:
–Etheric world (life- and formative forces)
–Astral world (soul world)
–Spirit world (creative sources for everything created)
In general, linguistic usage, “spiritual world” is often used as an umbrella term for all three levels. These are each divided into many other areas. And they are inhabited by beings.
Angelic hierarchies: These are inhabitants of the spiritual world. You can think of them as large, lofty spaces of consciousness. In practical work it is helpful to divide the angelic world into nine hierarchies, according to the Christian terminology given by Dionysius the Areopagite. The angelic world is oriented towards the Trinity above it: Father – Son – Holy Spirit.
Elemental beings: They are inhabitants of the etheric and astral world. They implement the impulses of the higher angelic hierarchies. Everything is ensouled by them, every place, every apartment, also every body. Without the work of the elementals nothing would exist in the external world.
The supersensible members of the human being
In addition to the sense world, humans also live in all areas of the supersensible world and consist of many supersensible bodies/members, which together constitute the human aura in all its complexity. In earlier times these supersensible members of the human being were always part of the sciences and spiritual traditions, with other names of course. The most familiar member of the human being today is the material body.
Material body: We perceive this with our senses, see and feel it because it consists of matter. Many people today identify very strongly with the material body, and it is the subject of conventional medicine. In actual fact, the material body is only a very small part of the whole human being. If someone were to just look at someone’s cut fingernails, we would say that from such a narrow perspective they could not understand that person. It is the same when one looks only at the material body. The material body is permeated by the other members of the human being, but this conflation is usually not differentiated. For example, we experience the material body as alive, but this life is already a perception of the etheric body.
Physical body, also called phantom body or form body: This is the spiritual, working archetype, the blueprint of the material body. Before an incarnation this is created out of the cosmic spirit man (see below) and holds the form of the material body. Since the term “physical body” is easily associated with “material body”, in what follows I will mainly use the term “phantom body” when describing this member of the human being. It can be perceived supersensibly some inches around the material body, but this perception requires long practice. The etheric body can be perceived more easily.
The etheric body, also called the Life body or the body of formative forces: the etheric body calls dead matter to life and creates a living organism out of many individual elements (e.g., organs or cells). The etheric body forms the basis of all life. The term ether is comparable to Prana in India, Qi in ancient China and Ki in Japan. All living beings, besides humans also animals and plants, have their own etheric body. If one meditatively pursues the question of what the difference between minerals and plants is, one can gain an understanding and experience of the etheric body. The etheric body forms the organs of the body according to the archetype of the phantom body. It is also the bearer of memories, temperaments and habits. We normally become aware of thoughts when they are given a form in the etheric body; ideas/conceptions are usually visible in the area of the etheric body in front of the head. The etheric body always mixes with the environment and so several etheric bodies can be permanently connected. A family or life community normally forms a common etheric body. The etheric body is the “densest” part of the human aura.
Astral body: The astral body is the body that constitutes our experience and our emotions. You could also call it the “body of experience”. If we meditatively pursue the question of the difference between plants and animals, we can come to an understanding and experience of the astral body. It is the basic carrier of consciousness, but not of the self-consciousness that only arises through the ‘I’. Feelings such as pleasure and displeasure, sympathy and antipathy are experienced through the astral body. It enables independent movement of the body and sense perception. Everything that we think as well as the conscious part of our will intentions are also experienced in the astral body. The various members of the human being are not separate, but are connected. When experiences of the astral body are impressed on the etheric body, the sentient body arises.
The ‘I’: Rudolf Steiner describes this very beautifully as the “veiled sanctuary of the soul”. The ‘I’ forms part of the eternal spiritual core of the human being and is at the same time individual and universal. In its depth, the ‘I’ is not easy to understand. The ‘I’ penetrates the other members of the human being and transforms them; this is also known as the ego/‘I’-organization. The ‘I’ is the “captain” on the “ship” of the other members of the human being. Through the work of the ‘I’ in the astral body, the sentient soul and the intellectual and mind soul arise.
Sentient soul: The sentient soul is part of the human soul and not only conveys all perceptions and sense impressions, but is also the seat of all instincts, desires, passions and will impulses with which the ‘I’ is connected. In the sentient soul, however, the ‘I’ only broods dully, self-consciousness within the ‘I’ has barely awakened. Instead, the ‘I’ identifies with feelings, thoughts and perceptual contents, which can lead to ‘I’-entanglements. The “ego” is the lower ‘I’ hardened in egoism, which manifests as a distorted echo of the authentic ‘I’.
Intellectual soul, also called mind soul or rational soul: This lives in the interplay of intellect and mind (the latter in the sense of “do you mind?”). Pure understanding makes the soul life sober, unfeeling and impotent. The intellectual soul is completely filled with what it thinks or perceives and is lost in it, as it were. The term “mental body” largely corresponds to the intellectual soul. On the other hand, the mind gives the soul warmth and energy. In the mind, emotions and will impulses are so linked together in a healthy unity that, unlike the exuberant, blind emotions of the sentient soul, they do not rob the ‘I’ of control over the life of the soul. The intellectual and mind soul is the currently prevailing state of consciousness of mankind. The ‘I’ is definitely working within it, but without it becoming clearly conscious of itself. This only happens in the consciousness soul.
Consciousness soul: Here the soul grasps itself in its own being, in its ‘I’. Rudolf Steiner says very beautifully: “Therefore this ‘I’ cannot be perceived by the consciousness soul in any other way than through a certain inner activity.”34 The consciousness soul does not live in thought and world contents, but in an intensification of the active soul forces. All contemporary meditation should first have the goal of developing the consciousness soul. This is the most autonomous member of the soul that has separated itself most from the rest of the world. The sovereignty of the individual, but also the sobriety and objectivity of the observation of nature, are fruits of the consciousness soul. It can open itself equally to the sense world and the spiritual world. It is the soul member that can influence human actions through impulses of the beautiful, the good and the true emanating from the spiritual world. The consciousness soul corresponds to the “integral consciousness” described by Jean Gebser and Ken Wilber.
Spirit self: Every supersensible experience takes place in the spirit self. It is sense-free consciousness, the “higher self”. It is also the angelic level of consciousness.
Life Spirit: The spiritual world and its beings are active weaving, life; we connect to this world with our life spirit. This can also be understood as an etheric body permeated by the ‘I’.
Spirit Human: This is for the present time, the “highest self”, the cosmic human being, who can become infinitely large, a star figure. The individual phantom body is formed from the eternal Spirit Human before each incarnation, which then forms the material body.
Many individual spiritual beings form part of the higher members of the human being, who constantly accompany and work on and with “their” human being. I am going to present three important categories of such beings here.
The angel: The angel accompanies the human being with angelic patience through the incarnations. Our angels always carry an overview of our karmic connections and necessities. They are more highly developed than we humans and affect us from the sphere of the spirit self. Every supersensible experience is conveyed through the angel. Every night we sleep as it were into the angel. After death, the angel guides us through the higher spiritual realms of the angelic hierarchies, also called planetary spheres. The spiritual light of Christ reaches us through the angel. The feeling of being within yourself, of being at one with yourself, of loving yourself and others, means being permeated by the angel. When the connection with the angel is disturbed, a person feels removed from himself. From the aspect of the aura, the angel is usually directly behind the person.
Body-elemental being: The body-elemental being is the angel’s co-worker on the level of the etheric body. It is the consciousness of our body and takes care of all organs and life processes, even across the incarnations. Viewed aurically, the body elemental is usually in front of or inside the human being.
Doppelganger/Double: In its unredeemed state, it comprises the totality of human spiritual shadows, unredeemed feelings and traumas of all human supersensible members, antisocial, egoistic behavior patterns and all old, not yet integrated karma. Aurically, the double usually walks beside the person; however, in uncontrolled situations the double takes the lead and suppresses the ‘I’. The person then behaves in a surprisingly aggressive or destructive manner. Everyone knows such situations, and then you yourself often don’t know “what got into you”. In problematic human relationships, the doppelgangers/doubles like to activate each other. The doppelganger/double is related to the inner layers of the earth and to the adversary spirits.
