INTRODUCTION

[17] Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

There are two types of men in existence; the first is the man in Christ while the second is the man in the flesh.

[1] There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1 NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

There is no condemnation for the man who is in Christ, the man in Christ has passed from death to life, and the man in Christ does not walk according to the flesh but walks according to the Spirit of Christ. The difference between the man in Christ and the man in the flesh is dependent on the nature of power that is at work in them.

To be in Christ is to be found with and in Christ, see how Brother Paul put it;

[27] To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27 NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

The man in Christ has the hope of glory, he will not come into condemnation, he will not come into judgment but has passed from death to life. But the man in the flesh is in death, although he is alive but his spirit is dead while he lives, see how Brother Paul explained it;

[6] For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:6 NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

The man in the flesh is carnally minded, he does not care about Christ and His Spirit, this man lives outside Christ, he is on his own walking and living independent of God. This man dwelling place is in death, he has no single life in Him.

[10] The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10 NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Instead of partnering with God, the man in the flesh is in active partnership with the devil whose mission is in death and destruction.

[14] But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. [15] This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. [16] For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. James 3: 14-16 NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬

One of the attributes and nature of the man in the flesh is that he lives and finds comfort in bitterness, envy and self-seeking; these characteristics are carnal, earthly and devilish, this man lives in confusion and every evil work are easily found within his environment.

[13] unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. [14] But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. [15] But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. [16] Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. [17] Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. II Corinthians 3:13-17 NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

The man in the flesh is still under the whip and caprice of the law, and because his mind is blinded by the law, he cannot see Jesus Christ beyond the veil and even when the veil had been taken away he keeps looking at the veil and not that which is beyond the veil. This man has chosen bondage of the law over the Spirit of liberty in Christ, he abides in rituals and ceremonies, he prefer feet washing, anointing oil, holy communion, holy soap, holy water, holy salt, holy handkerchief, holy stickers, holy bangles, everything holy is found with him but the Holy Spirit is not in him.

The man in the flesh is not sure of his salvation; he always thinks God is angry with him and always looking for a way to teach him a lesson. The man in the flesh is looking forward to heaven at last because he is not sure and cannot bank on the more assured word of prophecy; he always abides in fear and in sin consciousness.

[1] The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion. Proverbs 28:1 NKJV‬

But there is no fear with the man in Christ, he is bold as a lion, he does not waver, he is always sure and confident that; He that is in him is greater than he that is in the world. He knows whom he has believed in and he is persuaded that He is able keep that which He promised which He has fulfilled, in that He raised Christ from the dead.

Which of these Men are you? Are you the man in Christ or the man in the flesh? Remember, by the deeds of the flesh shall no man prevail. The man in Christ prevailed by faith in Christ but the man in the flesh tries to prevail and be justified by the deeds of the law which is impossible. Which of these men are you?

CHAPTER ONE: Faith in Things or Faith in Christ?

[27] To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27 NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

There are these folks that believes that God can be anywhere except in them; to them God can be in a building called church, God can be in the holy communion, God can be in the holy water, God can be in Goya bottle (anointing oil), God can be in stickers and bangles, God can be in holy handkerchief but God cannot be in them.

But our Brother Paul is saying that a man can only be assured of glory only when Christ is found in and with him. Thus any man who gives you holy oil, holy soap or whatsoever substance in the name of God has succeeded in taking you far away from Christ which is our assurance of glory.

[16] And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.” II Corinthians 6:16 NKJV

Holy water is idol, holy communion is idol, anointing oil is idol, holy salt is idol etc. and there is no relationship between the temple of God (the believer) and idol. A believer has zero faith or confidence in these things. Our confidence and joy is in the Spirit, in Christ Jesus our Lord. Any man who perceives God in holy oil or holy whatsoever, is not in the faith but in the flesh.
